Raffle Quilt

This is a Raffle quilt for a guild in Haxtun, CO.   It was such a fun one to work on. The group that make it made the house blocks to represent the houses they live in, or grew up in.  I loved that concept!

Isn't that a neat concept?  To quilt your own house??

and of course - it was plaid -
I was in Heaven!!!

Each house block was quilted differently!

And of course -
the BACK!!!

What texture!!

Memorial Day

While I know that Memorial Day is to Remember those who have served and passed on - we have an awful lot of Military that were never Remembered when they came home.  And so - Quilts of Valor gets to honor them - and Remember their service to our Great Country:

Ps - the Gentlemen on the far left is not running from the photo - he needed a chair

Quilts of Valor 2015

Good Wednesday Morning!!

It's the Weekly Quilts of Valor Show!  So.... I had some questions about what this is - so I thought I'd fill you in. I am the coordinator for QOV here in Colorado - along with my fabulous Western State coordinator Melody!  We have a grand ol' time with all these awesome quilters - Honoring our Service Veterans touched by War with a Quilt of Valor - and you all!!! These quilts are LOVED!

I know it is NOT about numbers - but this year alone Colorado has been able to honor over 200 Veterans.  And I love to show off the gorgeous quilts - so that is why I do a weekly Quilt show!!

Sit back, relax, and enjoy the beauty!!

(above)
This quilt was made from the block drive blocks that we did here on the blog
( a little note - we had enough of these blocks to make over 100 quilts)
It was quilted by Jimmie in Colorado

This one was made by the Columbine Quilters

the Trinity Quilters.  The man on the left is the Veteran
he got to present it too.

These two quilts will be going to a Warrior Retreat
I know they will be loved!

My son ( the middle tallest one) worked with his NHS

Chevron Design Wall

I might have gone "Radio Silent" for a few days - and I LOVED it!!! There was No Service.... No Cell, No Texts, very Very Very limited Wi fi....

Of course, I hit the cell zone on the way back and boy did the phone start dinging... that was hilarious... I wasn't sure what to answer first... Texts, Calls, or Email.....

So.... I got a lot done.... and here is one of the projects I started...

It is those Chevron Blocks - that are the Tutorial from MSQC .... Here

Colorado Monument part 2

We headed in to the canyons and oh my:

The rock formations - oh my!

and the colors. A couple of you have suggested using the photos as a basis for a landscape quilt.

I am interested ;-)

Photo bomb!!

it is so amazing to me the differences in this state !

Isn't that a beautiful snapshot of my son?
I have no idea why he decided to hide ....

Cuz this young boo boo.... is at it again!!

PS... I will have quilty stuff to show you Monday - I might have rebelled about the dinner thing
and stitched.... oh ya!!!

Colorado National Monument

We might have been off hiking again....

And since no one has told me that a quilt blog can't go hiking..... are you ready??

We went to Colorado National Monument.
It is West of Grand Junction - over on the western edge of our state.

The views are breathtaking

And my kids are nuts.  While that youngest one thought he was being funny - the dad was maybe 15 feet away ready to grab him!!

I just love black and white -
the colors change so much
( and I still pretend I am like Ansel Adams)

The terrain is crazy.
My oldest runs through this area
( like miles - and its all up hill - he is wierd that way)

My guys

Someday - when we look back at these photos - I am going to show them to his kids
And remind them that their dad was a HUGE goof, and to get a photo without goofy faces, bribery is always involved!!!

Scenery is always amazing - but the clouds.... so cool!

I then we headed into the canyons....
I have more photos.....
