Farm Quilt and !! Finished!! ( or not) Friday!

What a fast week this has been!! Do some of your weeks go like that? You have plans and ideas, and then the next thing you know - the week is coming to an end?

I have been invited to a baby shower for someone who I have watched grow up, and they are some of my most favorite people. I started thinking of all the things I knew about them - and had fun choosing fabrics that represented them.

Also - I finished it !! In a short amount of time - I was quite driven...

We have pigs and chicken fabric. They helped us raise pigs when Little Bit was learning. There are tractors - as they farm, and my husband drove for them for a while. There is an Antique truck - they had one at their wedding, and cows - cuz - well - we all raise cattle - and teal paisley - that is his favorite color.

I hope they will like it - and USE it!!

I have also been organizing my *quilting Space*  and I have come to realize - I need to focus.... (famous last words right?)

So I told myself to make a list, and then stick to that list for at least the month of August. Cross your fingers for me - that you see at LEAST 4 finishes for next month. Deal???

I need to make this FONF work for me - and inspire me to Get 'er DONE!

How did your week go?
Make any progress?

A Major Reorganization - fun times !!

There have been some pretty big changes in our family life here - and they are all good. One of them is that I get to take over my spaces back in my sewing room , studio, hole in the wall, whatever it should be called...

sometimes I call it my dungeon, cuz when I am down there - I forget the rest of the world exists.

So!! Because we moved a few things - everything looked - well - stuffed. I was talking with my friend Donna about it, about how I felt all discombobulated... and she had some very good questions for me.

What is your primary goal for this area? and How would it make your work easier?

On the drive home ( from hanging with Donna) I started envisioning my room.

And then! I enlisted my boys and we went to work!!!! And of course - while you are moving things you see other things that need to be organized, and then you find fabric - and you start dreaming.... and it was ( and still is) fun!!

Look what I have found!  I always think I have seen every fabric in the world - but apparently - I have not!

A sweet lady had given me a bag of Y2K fabrics - as I was not a quilter then.....
And I had *sigh* just put it on a table.... and forgot about it.... must be cuz I had to teach math that day.....
I think this little strip was my favorite - it showed then and now - Pyramids vs Big cities

Quilters vs Quilters ( nothing much really changed here but the ladies clothes)

This one - writing down vs Computers.... a constant battle in our house! I still think people should learn how to Write with a pencil.....

And this one - all these presidents. I just thought it was cool - and wished I had it when we were learning presidential history.... Recognize Anyone?

And this one!!!  The glory days right?   I think this one will be fun in a QOV....
I have decided it is time to move my longarm too - give myself a different view. That, of course, will take at least 3 of us.... those suckers are heavy!!

Enjoy your Sunday!!

PS.... I found more plaids.

PPS.... I have started cutting them....

Speaking at Quilt Guilds

You might know this - or maybe you don't.... but every once in a while I am scheduled to speak at a quilt guild. So far this year I have 3 bookings in Colorado.... It makes me feel loved....  ( and I get to use all my words!!!)

Our guild was scheduled to have a speaker in this last week, and a family member got sick. She needed to leave to take care of them, and I got to be the pinch hitter.

It was great!!  I explained to them right off the bat - that they had to pretend they didn't know me, laugh at my jokes - even if they had already heard them, and ohh and ahh appropriately.

They succeeded... I still Love them!

I talked about my journey through quilting and got to show them some of my favorite quilts - that are still in my possession. Want to see a few?

I still think this purple and green quilt is one of my all time favorites.
Every time I show it to a family member they try to borrow it - for ever....
I take that as a good sign!

I love this quilt - I just love the florals and the little guy laying next to it.
Those were the days when we had no furniture in the house.... it seemed so big...
Now we have huge backpacks, 14 pairs of shoes, coveralls and boots for all....
gloves, hats.... couches - oh boy!!

Well - I am off to quilt -
After my little breakdown last night - the kids are making sure I sit by a machine.
Even if it is just to feel the love of my machine......

Jeananne Wright

Oh. My. Goodness.

I. Am. In . Love!!

Jeananne Wright  came to speak at our guild about the history of quilts. She has a million quilts... okay maybe not that many - but enough, that I have decided we are long lost sisters, and she should be required to tolerate my presence as I wallow in her knowledge... and pet her quilts....

Oh - big sigh!!

She let me take pictures, I don't think she knew that I would take each and every quilt that she brought 's picture.... but I did!!!  (Oh don't correct my grammar .... I know its off!!)

Is that not GORGEOUS!!!??

I really think she meant for me to have this one?
If she looks hard enough I bet my name is on the label!!!

And then we had show and tell....
Check out this beauty!!!

I believe she made it for a gold star mom - but wouldn't that be a wonderful Quilt of Valor?

This black grey and yellow one was a winner at the fair - such a cool quilt!!!

And this one, I can't remember how many fabrics she said they used, but it was yummy!!  It made me want to come home and sew!!! So... I am sort of looking forward to this weekend... we have NOTHING ( okay maybe one or two things) but NOTHING that should get in the way of me.... bonding with my machine!!!
