Sunday evening Give Away

Part of my recuperating has involved hanging out on the couch. I have had a pile of books and magazines that I always wanted to go through - so I have been taking advantage of it!!!  Plus it keeps me from cleaning the house.... that is the Men/Boy job this week (yay!!)

So I found these three books - and they are quite cute - so I am going to offer them as a giveaway...  Its so easy to win - leave me a comment with which book you would prefer... then I will draw a winner for each book.

If you would like all three - let me know that too....

They are raggy quilt books, but I believe you could make them without the raggy edges too - so lots of opportunities!!

I'll draw a winner Wednesday evening - probably late - as we have company coming ... hopefully to bring me dinner LOL

Thank you's

First let me say thank you for the beautiful quilt.  It has to be one of the nicest gifts I have ever received.  I have returned from Afghanistan in very bad shape and this of all thing is what I needed the most.  The cold of any kind is extremely hard for me to handle and it causes extreme amounts of pain.  This warm quilt is a life saver form me.  I have told this to my mother who also makes quilts and she would like to know she can be involved.  Her mother also made quilts and when she passed she left my mom with a very large amount of quilt blocks and other such material.  if you could please let me know how she could get in touch and help that would be wonderful.  Also the quilt I have was made by an angel named Margaret and I would like to thank her for it.  Thanks again for all you do.

                                 Raymond M

Our family recieved one of your quilts. We thank all of you so very much. We are a military family stationed here at Fort Carson in Colorado springs co. We received the quilt from the SFAC while in the med board process. You guys did a wonderful job. We our going to be hanging this on our wall with all of our other military items. Thanks the M Family

Another QOV presentation

This Soldier came back to Denver to visit his mom and visit a school that had been writing him letters. He has been in Afghanistan for his latest tour, he was very close to the situation with the soldier that has been in the news....

My friend Sharon was able to present him a QOV - and he was so tickled. He could not say Thank you enough - I love Photos - they show it all!!

This quilt came from Canada and was quilted by Sharon ( to the far left) so it was fun for her to be able to present it!!

QOV Presentations

I was allowed to invite a few Quilters to go with me to Ft Carson  to present some QOV's. This is a big deal - they are very protective of the WTB - so I was excited.

We got to present quilts to a few different Soldiers - the pictures kind of tell the story....

Wrapped in LOVE!!

Hope you can see the smiles and the happiness. !!   They were thrilled to recieve such a gift!

Design Wall - QOV edition

My design wall / table is full!!! We had a Quilt of Valor sew day on Sunday. My family loaded me up, I got there, the ladies unloaded my car.  I got to sit and gossip and chit chat and goof off while they did all the work.

This is the big two piles of quilts we got bound.... there were a few more after I took the picture!

And Joan brought me pretty flowers!! I love flowers!!
I know - thats not a reall exciting design wall - but it is real exciting to me - the ladies loaded me back up and send me home. That was the least amount of work I have ever done at a sew day!! Yet I feel so much was accomplished!!!

Kind of Finished Friday

I started making this strippy quilt ( pattern can be found at MaryQuilts.com - called the Quick Strippie)    And it was quick - until the couch beckoned me!!  But - it finishes at 41 x 62 .  We have an Honor Flight that leaves Northern Colorado twice a year with 120 Veterans on it. It has been a goal to get a quilt to each vet for the last two years... so I believe that I will donated this one to them for their September flight.

I really like the way it looks! So I think I will kit up some Red White abd Blue ones and add borders for our Quilts of Valor - don't you think that would make a nice quilt?

I will be linking up with CrazyMomQuilts and Confessions of a Fabric addict  for Finished Friday...
