Design Wall Monday - the last of 2012

I have 15 cubbies under my ironing board, and they are full. Of What, I can not say - as it would scare both of us!! But I decided to start working on emptying each cubby - one at a time.... success - two are no empty waiting for a new project....

and one of them is up on my wall.....

See the little black face there over the fence.... that's my doggie... she thinks she would make and excellent quilter, and that when it is -15 she should be my friend.... she is smart that way!

Here is the full design wall - now I will get ti finished before the New Years Day Sit and Sew!!! I have all my strips pulled for

This quilt  !!! For more design walls head over to Patchworktimes.com

Monday!!! and a finish!!

I know it is supposed to be design wall Monday... but I have a Design Wall Monday FINISH!!!

Whoo hoo!  I looked at this pile that had been accumulating next to my machine, and I thought I had better do something about it.

This is the pile..... *sigh*

Finish # 1 - the yellow binding. If you knew how much I didn't like to bind, you would be giving me a standing ovation... seriously.....  because after binding the yellow one, I grabbed that one with the blue stars.... and  bound it too......

But I can't show you that one quite yet, because - it is a Christmas Present... yes, yes, it is, and yes, it was buried in a pile.  it could have worked for Christmas 2013 too.... no one would be the wiser  ....

And here - what are my men up to? Can you guess???

Design Wall Monday

My Connecting Threadz group had a sew in on Sunday... and I was so glad! I needed a big push to get some things done! And! It worked!!

I got the backing made for a gift quilt. And I would post it here, but I have a feeling this person checks my blog every once in a while. So you know that would probably be the day I post a picture!!

I finished a Quilt top, and the backing for this one:
I still need new light bulbs, so it's very shadowed in the picture. This is a quilt  for an auction coming up in January. Still need to quilt it!

I pulled my fabrics for a pillow project that I found in the premiere issue of Modern Quilting Unlimited. After playing with the fabrics I took the Red out. I think maybe hindsight, I should have left the red in, and taken a cream out. But I still like the results. Plus I have 4 more pillows to go, so I can vary the fabrics a little.

Here is everything all cut out. I was trying to stay organized. I am not sure that it really worked??

And... Here is my final pillow top. I just need to put the backing on it, and stuff the pillow in. That will be my today job.  ( after the pig meeting we have!)

And this little star? I Love it!!! Peggy B sent my some Quilts of Valor for our Soldiers, and tucked in the middle was this gorgeous little star. Her Husband made it!! So I immediately hung it over my ironing board. I LOVE it! It catches the light so nicely!!

A Modern QOV

Whoo Hoo - this is my 12th QOV top this year.   I decided to try a Modern Twist on it, and leave lots of Negative Space... I even have a quilting idea.... I am so excited.

It is really dark here tonite, and some of our lights burned out last night. I am too lazy to drive to town to get new bulbs, so it's sort of weird lighting tonite....

But I took 12 of the Scrappy Trip blocks and made this!!!  I even have a backing ready to go Thanks to Patty, from our Sew Day, she took a ton of fabric and made me 6 backings!!

I also want to tell you about the Quilters Christmas Party going on over at SewCalGal. So go check it out, and come back on Sunday.... for I have a story to tell ( but you knew that right?)

And If you.
WANT TO WIN A PRIZE?

Win a Door Prize by coming to the Quilter's Christmas Party on December 9th.  PR Angels are needed to help spread the word and greatly appreciated.  On December 9th SewCalGal will host the party, with a linky.  Bloggers and non-bloggers will be able to participate.  You can share insights on your favorite Christmas memory, what you are making for gifts and/or household decorations this year, tips, tutorials, just about anything you can think of that is fun and has a Christmas Party theme. And, posts that share insights about anyone in your family (or family history) that has served in the Military is also welcome! But your post needs to be dated December 9th, the party link will be open for 24 hours, and your post needs to show that you are participating in the Quilter's Christmas Party hosted by SewCalGal with a link back to the party.

Oh!!!  And I finished FINALLY the little blanket that I was working on.  I guess the delays weren't all that bad - but I really wanted it done quickly.

I tried to quilt in some things, like his football number, and words. Just some fun things

And this is the back - I think I fell in love with this fleece. I see more of it coming into my house in the future.

I will be linking up with CrazyMomQuilts.blogspot.com and Confessionsofafabricaddict.blogspot.com

Enjoy!! Hope to see you back on Sunday!!

Design wall Monday

Well - you know how they say the best laid plans?  ,...... This is one of them!!

Last week I showed you this:  and I said it would be done today... apparently ... I lied....

But I am close!! What it was (or is) is a blank sheet of fabric for kids to sign. And my son was to take it to high school and get it signed, and bring it back for me to quilt. But he locked his keys is his car the first day.... so that delayed us a day.... and then...

The backing I wanted to use ... I washed it  and I didn't like it... so I needed to go to town to get better backing.

So here it is: All signed. With a picture of the new backing... its warm yummy fleece.

And it is all pinned, ready to go on the longarm as soon as I finish the border of the quilt that is one there......
One of the kiddos, who I now look up to, but went to school with my son since kindergarten, suffered a concussion in a football game, and has had a Recovery. He is still in the hospital and will be for a few more weeks, so we thought that maybe we could offer a little more encouragement, and something snuggly for his room.....

and too show you how crazy our week has been - I just accidentally deleted a bunch of comments from the blog... I was trying to delete the spam ones.... ah bummer.... I still love you all!!!

Design Wall Monday

Hope you all had a Great Thanksgiving!! We had a good time! My job for T day dinner was the sweet potatoes!! I can do that!  My Sister in laws did all the hard work!

The morning of Thanksgiving though found us here:

The TURKEY TROT - there were like a million people there - it was crazy. I couldn't find one of my kids when it was over, I was worried!!! But he knew I had the car keys... and the way to his Aunts house!

And then the sunset... a beautiful ending to a wonderful day.

Alright - now on to the Design Wall ( floor this time- my wall has stuff on it too!!)

I can't tell you much about this - only that it will be finished next Monday!
Can you guess?

Design Wall Monday

First off  - the big giveaway can be found Here

Second - The winner of the the Scrappy Trips Block drive - and More pictures will be announced tomorrow!!

And NOW!!! On to the Design Wall......

I can't show you whats at the top of the wall - because... well.... it's a secret.... But I was getting weary of working on it - so a boy and I sorted thru some of the scrappy trip blocks and started pulling the ones with lots of red.... just to see what it would look like.

He played with them for a while and decided that he kinda liked the X look rather that the O look.... Creativity at work

Design Wall Monday

You know how I know my husband loves me?

The snow started falling, and it was blowing so hard outside, that he decided to start building me something special.......  to go on this beautifully empty wall ( that he even emptied)

Ta da!!! A brand new Design wall!!! It is 72 x 72 and I love it!!!   I am even working on a little somethin' to put up there... but I wanted to admire it first!!

And look - there is Little Bit in the snow! Part of helping dad clean the deck entailed making a little fort !!

Monday

I realize this is supposed to be design wall monday - but my poor design wall is empty..... so empty is it sad!!

Instead my last week consisted of Marching Band Regionals, Cross Country Regionals, and Robotics... I loved every minute of it - but I sure missed my sewing machine. OH! I did get to use it.... to sew on patches on my sons lettermans jacket.

I did get a few quilts quilted!!
This is a clients quilt.
She got a bag of fabric from a quiltshop - it was a mystery, and she was supposed to make something with it. I think she did a great job!

This is another one of hers - It was a fun little quilt!

Oh ya - we burned down what was left of the barn that the tornado destroyed. First we had to move everything - that took us a few weeks, and then the boys and their dad got to attack it.

There was also a beautiful sunset in there this last week - this was Saturday night I believe.

See - this proves I did go to Cross Country Regionals
My son is the far left.

Proof that I was at Marching Band Regionals - again my son - in the back - with the drum.

I am not sure this next week will be any better in terms of getting something up on the design wall - but I can guarantee - it won't be any less crazy!!

Design wall Monday

It's the Christmas Edition... did you know that Christmas is close? If you need a countdown - just ask Little Bit... I think he might even have it down to the hours....Since the advent of the camera on the phone thing, I have 14 photos of *the most important* thing to get him for Christmas....

But I am working on getting a few things ready for Christmas.... and that is what I worked on this weekend.....

I kind of like it..... it still needs borders... but I am getting there...

And just because I know you really really really wanted to see my boy again.... here he is... running... this was a hard course for all the kids and they didn't go as fast as they wanted - but I sure thought they did well. They went faster than I could have!!

Design Wall Monday

I sewed!! Yay!! I tell you - it has been so crazy around here lately, that about all I get to do is look at my fabrics.... but not Sunday!!

Sunday was our QOV sew day and boy did we get a lot done!!

A few of our Sew'ists dissappeared before I wrangled everyone in for a photo - but
we made ..... ( drum roll please)
52 Pillowcases
Bound 13 Quilts
and took 10 more home to be bound!!!

Woo Hoo

Oh - and Gisela stopped in with THIRTEEN quilt tops for us to work on
Kathy and Connie brought 5 tops!!

Oh boy!

I came home so inspired
that I worked on my string QOV - and here is the wall so far

I need a bigger wall!!

Please talk to Wrangler Man about that for me - would you?

Design Wall Monday

Thank goodness for the inspiration to have something to show, or I might have neglected my sewing table all together!!

I am participating in a row robin in our guild so I added a row to this one, and it will go to a new *sew'ist* tuesday!!

My Row is the bottom pumpkins made out of log cabins
I kind of like them!! Wouldn't that be a great table runner?

Can you handle more cowboy pictures?
The Kids had so much fun and they slept so well!!

This is middle bit. This horse is not a roping horse, he was a mountain horse, and really not so sure about those cow things.

Middle bit worked on him quite a bit and he ( the horse) is getting a lot better about ropes, calves, and noise!

This is my nephew again -
I think he was working on two different horses yesterday
One was 4 and the other 6

The little guy - who is really not so little, was working with this Grulla horse. He was doing such a great job. It's wonderful to watch the kids have such patience with animals.

Such determination!!

Design Wall Monday

Actually my design wall is a quilt off the quilting machine... Lucky for me, I have been very busy quilting for clients lately - and I really appreciate it.

This quilt was made by a quilter in Denver - she is also a quilt teacher - so if you are ever at Wooden Spools - check out her classes!!
I thought it was a pretty cool quilt - Kind of thought it would make a great pattern for a quilt of Valor.

I quilted stars in the star parts - and wavies in the stripes of the flag

This is the back - isn't it the coolest? I love how it incorporated one of the themes of the quilt.

Design Wall Monday

Yay - I am finally getting to sew a little bit!  It seems like when school starts all of our rhythms get thrown off, and I am the one who struggles the most!!

Oh well - I have been getting some time in to sew my string blocks, and I have started trimming them - and this is what I have up so far!!

I know - its not much - but it still counts right???

Design Wall Monday

It's official - we are back in school...,, *sigh*.

My design wall for today is actually my ironing board and my cutting table. This weekend the Rocky Mountain Quilt Festival was in session, so I decided to go check it out... and a project jumped in my arms, and followed me home....

Batiks - I have never sewn much with Batiks - but after finishing the Super Secret Summer Project Quilt of Valor All in Batiks - I think I am in Love!!!

Such Pretty Batiks

Now wish me luck that I get the mojo to sew!!!

At the Rocky Mtn Quilt Festival - Irena Bluhm brought her collection of quilts, and again, I fell in love!! Check out this hummingbird on one of her quilts!!

They also had a Route 66 display with a ton of quilts depicting the Route... I liked a lot of them - this one sort of reminded me of home, and I got a little homesick, then I remembered that it was 105 where I am from, and decided I liked where I am.....

Wish us luck this week, Big Bit is taking a college course this year as a senior in high school, so he started that. Middle Bit is a 9th grader and little bit is in 6th grade. We do on online virtual academy, and this is my first year teaching high school - geometry doesn't scare me as much as the digital technology class does...
