Memory Quilts and!!!! Finished ( or not) Friday!

 Welcome to this weeks edition of Finished ( or not) Friday... where we find ourselves with!!!

A Finish!!! 

Alright - a Little Bragging here.... TWO finishes!! Oh ya!!

I was so excited to finish these and get them back to their owner - and! I think she liked them!!

I put all the darker and more Winter type shirts in this one - with one in the center from the place he spent a lot of time!

Here I tried the Quilt swirl...

Yep -I suck at it!!

and then I took all the light Spring type ones for the second quilt - with one Denim section with his most favorite shirt 

Didn't even attempt the Quilt Swirl with this one... Just gave up gracefully! and draped it over the rocking chair!

These were really really fun to do, and of course - they hold such great memories for this family. The lady I made them for, her dad is an icon in the Horse Business around here, so I hope they bring a lot of good memories for her and her kids!

Finally Finished Twirling at the Disco - and Finished ( or not) Friday

 Happy Friday to you all!!

My Twirling at the Disco is at the Finished Finished stage for me!! It is going on to G in Co Springs to bind and award to a Veteran.  The block pattern was designed by Samelias Mum - and I love it!!

I arranged them a little different - just to see what would happen... I kinda like it!

But I really like Samelias layout better - so maybe for quilt number two - I will do it that way.

This is my 13th Quilt of Valor for the year...not keeping up with last year - but!! I am thinking this is a good number so far!!

My Finish to share this week is called

SWEET CAROLINE

It is a pattern written by Myra at Busy Hands Quilts - I got to be one of her pattern testers for this one - and what fun that is!!! I had a great time working on it - and! I think it turned out really cool. I can see doing this one in Patriotics as well!!

This pattern is very well written and comes in 4 sizes ( I think!)  You can use yardage or precuts - and it is really easy to follow her instructions!

Queen of Diamonds Progress.... and ! Finished ( or NOT!) Friday

I thought I had been making faster progress on this quilt top - but after looking back at my blog posts.... I have not... *sigh*   

Oh well!! at least I still like it right?

This is called Queen of Diamonds - and the pattern is by Atkinson designs. It is in her Dealers Choice Pattern book....  I add this because the few emails I get asking for measurements... the answer is... It is in her book ....- right?  

We have to support our awesome designers... and make them keep designing!

I actually have two rows sewn together now, so..... you know... I am getting there!!

and just for fun - One of my sons had to stay in Denver for a week and he was on the 30th floor. I went to visit him and this pencil caught my eye.... of course the tingling in my feet and the weakness in my knees did not like that height!

The 30th floor people.... oh my!!!

Mask making for college and!! Finished ( or Not) Friday!!

Happy Happy Friday!!

hope all of you are doing well! I have stayed away from saying to much about the whole * you know* going on... because.... well it makes me annoyed... and you know annoying a quilter, equipped with scissors, rotary cutters and all sorts of other things... Is just not good for the environment - hahaha!

But!!

Two of my Three Kids are headed back to college next month. Every day the information changes, as to online vs in person, and what the rules vs. the should happens change....and well!

We just decided that it is going to be in all of our best interests to be prepared one way of the other. and one of those things - each college states they will require Masks/Face protection in the classroom.  

So we decided to have some fun with it - Little Bit  chose his fabrics for his masks.... he already has two, but I figure.... Boys... laundry.... Better have an over abundance right??

Here are his choices:

Aren't those just fun?  I found these little dealies to put on the elastic so you can adjust the fit - and they are pretty cool!!  That way, I can just cut the elastic to the size I like , and they can make it fit!

So now... I am off to make masks for Middle Bit... he starts a week later, so you know... he came second... poor kid - always stuck in the middle!

String Stars.... and Finished ( or Not) Friday

Once upon a Time... about almost exactly Two years ago - I had a friend... and he came to our Quilt guild and did this most AWESOME presentation - and then the next day - He taught a class.... and I participated - and then.....

I did not follow through... cuz I am a bad quilter ( bwahh ha ha)

But today!! I fixed that - and I followed through!!

My original Post  about this quilt - and now!!!

The Reveal!!

So this one is outside and gives you the true colors, but the sun was so blinding - you can't see the quilting to prove that I Quilted it!!

I took one inside as well - so you can see the quilting... because - come on people - I am a Machine Quilter ( for hire, if your looking haha)  but the colors are a little darker...

I think that I shall bind it in Navy Blue.. but that is a post for a different day - like maybe October... ( I did not say which year tho!)

Client Quips ... and !! Finished Friday!!

This week - I have no finishes for myself.... But its all good!!

I have a few finishes to show you from some of my clients!

This is from my dear friend that can find THE BEST antique Quilts areound.. It was REALLY flimsy and fragile, so we tried to not do any stitch in the ditch - We wanted nothing to rip!!

And I loved the fabrics!!

Here is the next one, and!! she asked me to bind it - can you imagine ha haha!  But I did it for her - and it turned out so cute!

I am still working on processing wedding photos from my friends wedding - I think I went Camera Crazy - and you should just guess how many Raw photos I took... I don't think anyone can get close!!

Cowboy Quilt top.... and FINISHED Friday!!

Yippee Ki Yay!!!

I got my Cowboy Quilt to the TOP stage - yay me!!

I have been working a little each day, and all of a sudden - I knew that if I put dinner in the oven, and ignored everything until the buzzer went off... I could get it topped... .and then I grabbed a kid - Bam!!

There it is!!

And you know - this may be the one time my Brown grass looks good - It gives it a nice background right?  and a few cows are there grazing... just to make you think it is all quiet and Idyllic here ( bwah ha ha)

Gratuitous Dog photo.  he is my buddy and follows me everywhere. We have started walking every morning - and so far - he goes a mile before he thinks we should quit. Pretty good for a tiny dog!  But man does he get dirty!!

You made it through the week!! and Hopefully you had a little Quilty stuff happen!!


Last Saturday!! ( yes Last Saturday) I thought I had some time to sit down and plan out how my quilt was going to go with all the strips I had made.....

and then .. Our wind event happened, and I tell you what .. our week just got busy.

We had wind for a million days!! ( okay maybe 4 days... but really ... that was more than enough) Monday night the lightning came and started a fire east of us. Our friends had 8 fire crews out there, and they got it under control - right before a huge rain....

Like I said.. the week was busy - so here is My Finished ( Or Not) Friday Quilty Item:

Its a pile... just a pile... of all the things I stitched... and didn't iron yet... because to be honest... I wanted something I could do while resting my feet ...  I was a wimp!!

And this is my favorite photo that I took from our Lightning storm Monday night... ( spelling is not my first language - haha)  Isn't that cloud crazy???

Brick Cottage Lane Table Runner and.... Finished or Not Friday!

Time went really fast this week - well and really slow too!!

This was kinda a check in week for our whole family. I don't talk on the phone all that much ( but believe me, that doesn't mean I can't talk!!), this week was an exception - seems I got to check in with the whole family - it was great!!


A few Years ago I made the pattern Brick Cottage Lane 2 from Busy Hands Quilts and I and Loved it!!  Of course, I am kind of a scrappy quilter - so sometimes I have more fabric than what the pattern requires, so I kept playing around and now!!

I have a finished Table Runner made like her Brick Cottage Lane pattern!

I had a fun time quilting it - and used a funky crazy back!!  And of course, I am going to put it in my Etsy store - Since Craft shows are still iffy - I have been trying my luck there! ;-)

What a week it has been!

So!! I posted a rememberery photo of the Half Square Log Cabins quilts on Tuesday and I was inspired.... LOOK!! What my Finished Friday is.... Ha ha!!! I wanted to make another - so why not???

And then... I fizzled... Haha! I think this weekend I will need to sit down and make a to do list and get focused - That ever happen to you?  How do you get back on track?

Diamonds on the Rough... and Finished Friday

Sometimes I name my Quilts and it makes my headline so much easier, but other times... I can't think of a name... so I have to wing it!   And this one was winged...

But it is finished!  Pieced and Quilted - and in the stack for my awesome Fellow QOV'ers to bind!!

And Lucky me - we got the photo in before the snow storms came back! We have had 3 of the last 4 days bring snow - and cold  - and more snow.... Really wet snow.... I hope to have an awesome pasture this year!!! and Fat Cows!!

This is the back - Debbe made this cool back out of bandannas and I thought it looked good for this quilt.....

So that is my brag for the week - that and my family got fed every day this week.....

Twirling at the Disco Top ... and Finished (or not) Friday

Happy Almost Friday!!!

I am getting this in a little early this week as the computer is freed up at the moment - so I am claiming it - haha!!

I finished my Twirling at the Disco top this week - it is such a fun top, and a great way to use those 2 1/2 inch squares I have been cutting... I almost have ran out of them!  ( just the squares, not 2 1/2 inch strips)

With my little border it measures 70 x 70 - so will be perfect for a Quilt of Valor. Funny enough - I had another plan for the border, and then couldn't find what I was looking for. So now that the top is finished - I will probably find what I am looking for ... and then! Will have to make a whole nother quilt!  Such is the life of a quilter right?

I also made masks - I was surprised at how many people emailed me and said I needed to add a tutorial to my blog and promote the making of masks. Not to be snarky - but there are like a million tutorials out there - and I truly did not think another one was necessary - I knew that everyone is pretty internet savvy  - they could find one that worked for them. So I apologize for not linking to one... but.. they are out there ;-)

 These are some from the last batches - the firemen ones were specifically for my Dad - a Retired Fire Chief.






In spite of all the mask making - I hope you got some quilty time in too! or at least enjoyed your mask making moments! ha ha!!

Modern Churn Dash Finish... and Finished ( or not) Friday!

I expect that we will start seeing more Finished projects in the next couple of weeks... from those of us considered Non - essential ;-) I think you are all essential though - so you all stay healthy okay!

I think we are all adjusting well around here - we have added people, added groceries, and more cooking - but in good news - Little Bit... he never gained the freshman 15 - he lost it... and now... he's almost back up! I am going to say that it is because I am such a great cook - that no one can feed him the way I do - bwahh haa haa!

My finish for this week is a Modern Churn Dash!

Of course - I did it in plaids - and even the Navy Churn is a navy on Navy plaid!!

This is my backyard - that thing in the distance is an oil rig - they are fracking a set of 20 wells..
I assume that is still considered essential...

We were trying to take its photo out in the pasture - and the wind kept coming up - it was not listening to my direction!

and the quilting pattern !

And well - we all know what is going on in the news right? here is a little funny.

My husband travels quite a bit, so he literally has two sets of Undergarments - a set for traveling, and a set that I wash while he is traveling... and now that he has been grounded... I did the wash - and Lawsy Mercy you all... the amount of undergarments!!  He might need another drawer, or we will store some in his suitcase - Ha ha ha!!
