Client Quips ... and !! Finished Friday!!

Happy Friday!!

This week - I have no finishes for myself.... But its all good!!

I have a few finishes to show you from some of my clients!

This is from my dear friend that can find THE BEST antique Quilts areound.. It was REALLY flimsy and fragile, so we tried to not do any stitch in the ditch - We wanted nothing to rip!!

And I loved the fabrics!!

Here is the next one, and!! she asked me to bind it - can you imagine ha haha!  But I did it for her - and it turned out so cute!

I am still working on processing wedding photos from my friends wedding - I think I went Camera Crazy - and you should just guess how many Raw photos I took... I don't think anyone can get close!!

The rest of the story

If you have read my blog for a while - you might remember that  2 1/2 years ago we lost my cousin and her 3 daughters. You can always see the effect of this on your own family... but what you forget is all the other people who knew her from the rest of her life.

One of those other people has reached out and become my friend as well. And it has been wonderful to learn of the other side of my cousins life.  My cousin was a Quilter - and she inspired her friend Jen to make a quilt in their memory.

Jen worked very hard on this quilt, and not only did she do a fabulous job, she stitched symbolism into every part of it... and it was wonderful.

She asked me if I would quilt it - and of course the answer was yes! It was actually a bit therapeutic for me as well. It was fun to see how she viewed the girls, and what things she thought of when she was choosing her fabrics.

I will admit that I was a lot nervous. I wanted the quilting to be symbolic as well, and I wanted it to be perfect. I wanted all that Jen loved about the girls to be evident... and that's a lot of pressure. I think that she loved it - and with her input, I think that we got it right.

I think that the girls would be tickled, and would highly approve ;-)

Fixing the Burbles

I met a new Quilt! This quilt had been pieced by a few different people. Blocks were made by a group, it was sashed by another, and then my dear Client finished it up. Needless to say there were a few measuring discrepancies in it.

Not a problem. I took a lot of measurements before I started, and in the end - we had a fairly Square quilt.

Can you see the way the fabric was eased?  It made a few burbles. So in each block I stitched in the ditch to give it a frame.... and then quilted in the fullness.

It was so nice to see the finished result. Each block came out so nice.

I was in such a hurry to get it back to her in time for Christmas that I forgot to take a full photo....

But just so you are not sad - here are my boys - in serious mode... can you guess what they are sitting on?

A Circle Quilt

First Question.... have you ever made a Circle Quilt?
Second..............have you ever quilted a Circle Quilt?

My client pieced this AMAZING Circle Quilt, and allowed me to quilt it. I was so excited, and nervous. I wanted to do it justice..... and not get dizzy at the same time.

I learned a lot about circle on this one!

 Isn't that just cool? The swirly is just so..... swirly. I quilted different colors in each swirl... so the back had a texture all of its own ;-)

And just for Grins - this is a horse.... one of mine. She's a character! She follows you around until you give in and give her a horse cookie. She has me trained pretty well.... but I made her pose first!

Ready for Halloween

One of my customers has the Cutest grandchildren!!! And she makes quilts for them for lots of occasions. She is wonderful - AND - she plans ahead... not like some of us who might decided on the 30th of October that her son needs a Halloween quilt ( and who still might NOT have it bound) ... but I digress...

Check out this cute little Pumpkin quilt she made - ALL out of scraps!!

Isn't it just adorable?  I quilted spiderwebs in the string blocks. It was a lot of fun!

Many of you have emailed or texted ( thank you!!!) Yes - Colorado is flooding, but so far we are good. We live about 5 miles from the South Platte River, but seriously - we are up on the highest hill, and after we had a flood in our basement 11 years ago, we landscaped the heck out of this place, so water should ( fingers crossed) stay away from our house.

There are a lot of people that aren't okay though - so definitely be praying for them. We were in Lyons Saturday for a XC meet, and thought what a beautiful place it would be to live, apparently this flood stranded them. It makes my heart hurt for them.

Not Design Wall Monday

I tell you what ! I need a weekend to recover from my Weekend!!!  Some day I am going to look back and be impressed at all we get done in two days, but today.... I think I will catch up .... sort of!!

Let me show you what I finished Friday - and meant to blog about that day.... okay?

This is the coolest braid quilt! My Client thought that it would use up a ton of scraps... and you know what? She thinks she has enough for another quilt! I told her that's what happens when you leave them out of our site - they multiply!!

Isn't this neat - the dark side and the light side of the braids?  It is a really cool pattern!

It was fun to fill this border with feathers. It gave it such a neat look.

The best part? Delivering the Quilt to you client, getting ready to lay it out on the bed, and realizing the quilt that is ON the bed - is also one you quilted!! Love it!!

Back in the Groove

Apparently my children are not the only ones growing.... one of my dear Clients Granddaughters - is moving up to a big bed!!! So she made this adorable quilt for her.

 The appliques are so darn adorable - and!!!! There was a ladybug!!!  I loved it!

She wanted it really fluffy and cuddly, so we used Quilter's Dream Dream Puff Batting - and did a meander through the stripes.

And then, oh my, and then - I got to play in the applique section. I twirled, and whirled, and feathered, and had a grand ol' time.

and I listened to Josh Groban SO LOUD!!!! the UPS man heard it when he drove up.... but it wasn't bothering anyone!!!

Oh - the back...  I love love love the texture!!!  This was such a fun quilt!!

A Hand Dyed Beauty

This quilt was made by my friend Norece  and we fell in Love. When it first arrived, I stretched it out and Little Bit said - I want that!

I was the lucky one to quilt it.... and ohh and ahhh over it, until she demanded it back *sigh*

There are all these Yummy Hand Dyed fabrics from Vicki

There is a ton of open spaces - perfect to do swirly feathers in!!

In each of the color blocks we quilted a little something different - something to enhance the colors.

To be honest? I was tickled that I had that many different colors of threads!!!
