July Rainbow Scrap Challenge Blocks

I finally found the pile of Teal/Aqua I had been saving for this month. Some people ( Nancy!!! I'm looking at you) already have some Quilts finished!! haha - I just had to tease her.

I found my fabrics, I pressed and!

I got Six blocks done for this color.  Because I think I want my quilt to be more rainbowy - I am going to stick with six blocks only - so Go me!! I am done for the month.

Also in my little bin - I had these sweet scraps - so I made them into 10 inch crumb blocks - who knows what they will be, but I added them to the pile of crumb blocks ... I may have to decide something soon, that pile is precariously balanced!

Here is the last photo of my threesome for a while - My son was able to come back and take his puppy with him on his project. The joy, the happy of the little pound puppy! she saw him loading up and was kind of going nuts until she realized she was being included!! made her day. I will miss her, but don't tell my kid okay??

It has been a bit sweltering here for a little black dog, and she hasn't correlated that playing hard heats her up.. so she loved her little ice bath haha!

Rainbow scrap challenge update

The colors for June are the Lights Blue, Green and Pink....

So I decided it was time to take stock of what I had and what direction I needed to go.

I have a plan - but I don't know how that plan will work - so its *secret* as of now.... just in case I change my mind.   It HAS been know to happen 😜

There are a lot - and I kind of have a good mix of Light and Dark Greens and Pinks, but not so many lights in the Blue department. I may go in that direction... we will see.

There are A LOT of blocks!!!

Orange Chunkies for May

I did it!! You would not think this was a hard thing to do - but!! May is going WAYYYY to quickly for me, and I almost forgot my Orange Blocks!!!

Snuck them in in between the client projects!! Yay me!

This *Mode * of transport has been working pretty well, until we got rain, I WANT the rain - so its all good, but being pelted by rain and trying to see the dogs wasn't pretty....

So they had a day of just hanging out with me, Today... we may get back to it. Also since it rained - I didn't want to tear up the ground at all. I only go 2 mph - but!!

We are in pasture Preservation mode!

I am glad to have this 4 wheeler. I walk the dogs a lot - and I guess I didn't realize how much I needed it, until I was grounded. I love being outside, and apparently my brain does too...

I am not a huge fan of tomatoes - I am getting better, I do like them in salsa, chili, etc - so was pretty excited to see K's plants growing!!

5 years ago today we Lost my Mom. She and my Dad were quite involved in Ministry to Firefighters/ Fire Chaplains, and yesterday I was invited to a lunch by one of the groups they worked very closely with ( and I continue too, although not as much as they did) It was really nice to see how the things they helped start have continued to grow, and to talk with the folks that loved the,.

One Firefighter told me that having my dad come to his place was like seeing John Wayne walk in.. a total hero to him. Another told me about the behind the scenes work my Mom did, and how they were always amazed at how much she did for them.

That was nice. Nice to know they are both remembered so positively.

Going back to 2018!! and!! Finished ( or not) Friday

Remember the big waggy tails that are  my puppies... this was another project unearthed by them...

and it is taking us back to 2018!! 2018 people!!

Its a scrappy Irish chain - the pattern was in a book by Melissa Corry

and it was my RSC project for 2018 - but!! I forgot about 3 colors.. so I spent a morning finishing those blocks and now: ( linking to: Rainbow scrap Challenge)

It is a top!! I had to finish the Pink, Red and Yellow, not sure how I got that far behind, but! I was -

This is the book it was in:
I don't seem to find it for sale anywhere.

But!! My top is done!! and now it goes to the *be quilted* pile.
A freind of mine challenged me to make a list of the To Be quilteds, and the need to finishes - but I am such a visual person, I decided a list would not help.

I have been taking photos and saving them in an album on my phone.

It was kind of fun to move this one from the *need to work on* album to the *need to Quilt Album*

and just an FYI - in the *Need to Bind* album,..... there's only two... oh ya!!!

The Pink Chunkies

Whoot Whoot - it is PINK for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge - I have some pinks - and!!

I turned them into the Pink Chunkies!!!!

(Pattern is Chunky Churndash by Quiltville)

I love them - I used a weird wavy print fabric for those super bright ones - I hope they will still stand out when I decided how to put my quilt together... but that worry is for another day!

Today I am going to link up my little chunkies with

Jan/Feb RSC and !! Finished!! or not ! Friday

 Happy Friday!!!

My Jan/Feb RSC quilt got some attention this week!! I had all the blocks made, I had it all pinned and ready to row... I ... Just.... Needed.... Time...

and I found that time!

It is now a top - and one less thing that Doggy Tails can wag off the table 😝

The lighting is not the best - but that's okay - when I get it quilted it will get its time in the sun!
After I had all the blocks made I saw this quilt there the values went from light to dark and so I wanted to try that on this one - I think you have to plan it a little better to actually make that happen - but! It was fun to try.

How was your week?  I am still catching up with last weeks posts - we were a busy group - but I love seeing what all has been made ;
Did you see all the cute *99 charms* that Grace and Peace Quilting has made! love them!

Also - I am cleaning out File Cabinets - can you see any reason to keep a planning calendar from 2014?  Just curious - do you have calendars that old?

Link up your DIRECT Post - not just the blog ;-)

Go visit - be Inspired!!

and then I got started on the Reds!!! I don't have as many Red scraps hanging around, as I tend to use those up pretty fast ( you know for those QOV's)  But I found some!!

Yay!!!

Can you just picture them as movie stars?  ha ha!!

If you are following along with the Winter 2026 QOV QAL - I finally made a tab at the top of the blog that has all the weeks so far ;)

Green .... and Blue Chunkies ( Rainbow Scrap Challenge)

Weekends Fill up Fast around here, so I have had to tell myself its okay to stitch on my RSC projects during the week too. It's a rough job, but someone has to do it right?

I've been slowing plugging away at making the blocks and just plopping them up on the design wall as they are pressed.

After I had all of them made I decided to start playing with color placement. Funny enough - I was ONE QST short - and I make them 2 at a time, so now I have an extra for another project. This is why scraps never end.... just sayin"

I played around and hoped to move from Light in the center to dark at the edges... I sort of succeeded ..I think it will look okay. It is now in a box... I am going to a sew day, and I have it all pinned in row piles. I hope to put it together there....

Note to Self:

Slow Down and Enjoy the ride... its okay to not have the day completely full!!! ( right?)

us... At the Valentines Day Shoot. We had a GREAT day !  It was nice weather, the horses were happy, we shot well, and placed pretty high for both of us . Our friend came to watch and hung out all day with us, super nice.

it's not easy being Green....

 Said Kermit the Frog

But I am having no trouble finding green scraps and pieces in my stash!!!

For the month of February Green is the RSC color!!!

This ( above) was about mid organize of the Green Ziploc bag. I should have take one to begin with - but.. it wasn't pretty folks.... I spent a lot of time organizing and trimming and bam ⤵

I have sets of 4 pinned for my Chunky churndashes. someone called them chunky  monkeys and I like that!!! And I have strips ready to make the rails... and I even got a few made

Then!!! I had a GREEN epiphany.... because Blue and Green are friends, what happened if I made the alternat blocks green and white, with my Blue Chunkies - and Voila!!!

I love it.

My husband thinks this means that I am predicting the Seahawks to win the Superbowl.... What say you? Am I predicting, or just making a good color choice haha!

See you Friday for !!  Finished (or not) Friday!!

A Blue Wrap Up for January

So the challenge was to see how many Chunky Churndashes I could make with my little 2 1/2 inch scraps. I think! I could have made more.... but! This is what I turned up with!

63 Blocks!!! and Ms Cherie... Might have contributed haha!! These mysteriously appeared!!

But they added such fun to this little pile of blocks!!
We are also doing our Knit Hats for Operation Christmas Child this Year. M's goal is 1000 hats - oh boy!! So I pulled out some blue and knitted a few.

Remember - I don't know how to knit with needles - so I use the Loom? its kind of relaxing. But I also have a baby loom , so I had to try one of a small size  ↓
Isn't it SO cute!!!!

And now... to wait and see what the February Color will be!!!
I wonder what block I will choose for that month? or!!! Will I stick with my Chunky Churndashes???

Oh!!! and I read a book - this is a fiction book, but! It's about a lady who leaves England for France and then finds herself *Stuck* there because of WWII . Its a good read.

It's not super political or war ish - but its was an interesting perspective and a light read of WWII.

Just the Scraps Ma'am...

I might have hurt my back a little, and I might have decided the 75-90mph winds were just not what I wanted to play in, so!! I retreated to my Scrap bin.

I finished cutting up the big pieces into 2 1/2 inch squares for my Chunky Churndashes.... and then - I had bits left over - so!!

I started putting them together and this is what is became.

I am not sure what I will use it for, or if I will add some to make it more placemat size, or???

But!! now the Blue bin is pretty put together . Not empty... but pretty put together! that's progress right?

2026 Rainbow Scrap Challenge has begun

Whoo Hoo its a New Year!!!

I have finally chosen a Block for this Months Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!

Are you ready?

Ta Da!! Little Blue Chunky Churndashes!! ( Free pattern on Quiltville.com)

I spent a few moments looking thru my scraps hoping that a Block would come to me!

As I had used fabric this past two years - I cut the leftovers into 5 inch squares, 3 1/2 inch squares and 2 1/2 inch squares. Looking at the 2 1/2 inch square pan ( yes ! I used an old cookie tray to stack them on) I could see that one swift tail wag of a dog - and we would have a mess...

I remembered how much fun I had making these little blocks a million years ago - and thought it was time again! And when Bonnie allowed me to write it as a Mystery Stitch Along in 2009!!! Wowzers!!!

Wasn't that a blast from the past ...

now - here is the question? What is the Over/Under on how many of these blocks will be made in January? and!! Will it use up my 2 1/2 inch square pile????

Teal RSC Diamond Chain and !! finished ( or not) Friday

This was my February/August RSC quilt!  I got the color wrong the first time, but kept stitching, Then put it away, then pulled it back out again.... and now!!!

It is a finish!!!

I had a lot of fun using all the teals, and then Navy and white for the chain part. I was making it for  me, but then a friend said they were getting married, and these are her favorites colors.... but when it was all done, my son said - Oh I'd like that one... so we are all up in the air as to where it will go!

The backing:

Just a Funny . I was looking for some crazy prints to make Ice cream Bowl cozies with, I pulled out a box, and now!! I don't want to put it back until it is empty. So I pulled this yardage out of the box for backing   - and it works!!!

I looked back at all my RSC tops that I finished - I think I only have 2 to quilt... go me!!

It is now YOUR TURN!!!
What all did you get to this week?

Link up  your direct post and visit away!!!

Just a heads up - there will be NO Finished ( or not) Friday on November 28th - I will be too full from Thanksgiving!!

So save your posts for December 6th and we will allow 2 posts per person!! How's that?

PS - The Three Stooges are back in action... beware of the shenanigans.....
