A Modern QOV

Whoo Hoo - this is my 12th QOV top this year.   I decided to try a Modern Twist on it, and leave lots of Negative Space... I even have a quilting idea.... I am so excited. 

It is really dark here tonite, and some of our lights burned out last night. I am too lazy to drive to town to get new bulbs, so it's sort of weird lighting tonite....

But I took 12 of the Scrappy Trip blocks and made this!!!  I even have a backing ready to go Thanks to Patty, from our Sew Day, she took a ton of fabric and made me 6 backings!!

Oh!!!  And I finished FINALLY the little blanket that I was working on.  I guess the delays weren't all that bad - but I really wanted it done quickly.

I tried to quilt in some things, like his football number, and words. Just some fun things

Finished Friday

I know -..  I know -the day is drawing to a close.... but I still have 7 hours till midnight right....

But I am getting something finished just under the wire. I have been working on this Quilt of Valor for what seems like forever!! Every time I sit down to put it together, the phone rings, the horses get out, the boys come home with hay to unload... it has never seemed to end.

We had snow - two days in a row, and I think that settled down our *git it done before winter hits* frenzy.. so I *got er done* at the sewing machine!!!

See - it was a crime of snow!! Poor kid came up the stairs to a snow ambush by his older brothers.... they are now watching their backs!!

My goal was 12 - so I just might make it!!

Quilt Tops

I revisited my 2012 goals and found out I was a little short on the Quilt Top Making side.... so I got busy!!!  

Remember the signature blocks I had out at the Larimer County fair? There were enough to completely make one top.... so here it is..

Not only did we have string blocks out, we had some stars too... so I combined them all!

And here is the second top done this week. ( I get extra points for 2 right?)

The instructions for this block are pretty easy, and the top goes together rather fast!  It is a little crazy - but should catch someones eye!!

So now I have 3 more tops to make - wish me luck, I am not sure I have any started that I can work on!!!  Maybe have to start a new one ;-)

Finished Friday!!

I feel like I am back on a roll!!! I have started finishing things and getting caught up and oh boy!! It feels so good to be alive.... at least until 3pm when my energy flops!!


This is April's UFO ( from Patchworktimes UFO Challenge) In April - #10 was drawn... and yes, I do realize that this is May.... but May's isn't done yet!!


This quilt is the The Quilt that had to Grow  from 2010!!! Ackkk - oh well it is quilted now, and ready to bind!!

The pattern can be found at Mary Quilts  and it is a really fun one - or at least I remember having fun making it.....

 Back to the quilts... this is the back of it - I kind of like how it turned out!!

2012 QOV Challenge

So.... How are you all doing on our 2012 Quilt of Valor 12 for 12 Challenge?   I am plugging along and doing great making the tops.... somehow I have slowed down on the Quilting.... so I had better get busy!!!

2012 QOV Challenge update
