Finished Friday

I know -..  I know -the day is drawing to a close.... but I still have 7 hours till midnight right....

But I am getting something finished just under the wire. I have been working on this Quilt of Valor for what seems like forever!! Every time I sit down to put it together, the phone rings, the horses get out, the boys come home with hay to unload... it has never seemed to end.

We had snow - two days in a row, and I think that settled down our *git it done before winter hits* frenzy.. so I *got er done* at the sewing machine!!!

See - it was a crime of snow!! Poor kid came up the stairs to a snow ambush by his older brothers.... they are now watching their backs!!

This is my 11th Quilt of Valor top for the year!

My goal was 12 - so I just might make it!!

Design Wall Monday

It's looking pretty bleak today....

This is a part of my Row Robin challenge group. I turned in my last one, and got the next one. Now there are two rows, and I have to design the third. I think I FINALLY figured out what I want to do... I found the fabric... now TO DO!!

It was actually sent to me a while ago, but I was trying to get all the generic, and manly ones done. I thought it was time to finish this one, and get it out there!!

2012 Goals Revisited

While we were on the road - I tried to read blogs from my phone. I still have no clue how to comment off of the phone, but at least I didn't feel completely away from my Quilt world. I saw that Judy ( Patchworktimes.com) was reviewing her goals. So today - I sat down and looked at mine... oh boy... do I have a lot of work to di!!


On my UFO list - of the 12 I chose, only 4 are done... most need to be quilted... I had better get busy!!


On my QOV list - I need to make 5 more tops.... and Quilt 8 more Quilts of Valor - to make my 12 for the year.


I thought I was getting more done.. apparently I have been goofing off too much ;-)


I think that was a good exercise though, to go back a review what I thought I could do for the year. It helped me reset my focus.  Judy is hosting a Quilting maration for August 9th to the 12th ( I think) and I may just have to join in.... QOV colors of course!!

Plans!!!

Oh boy, am I having fun so far this weekend!!  We have a ton of stuff to do outside, and that's cool - but the weather man said there was going to be gusting winds of up to 70 mph.... and we don't like that!!  Usually we all come inside and grumble.... but NOT. THIS . TIME!!!


I was prepared!!


Way back in 2011 - my ironing board had an unfortunate incident with someone who leaned on it way to hard.... and they bent it. But being handy, they just took a metal rod, and re-bent the board, and duct taped it.... and it worked O.K. , until you needed to put pressure on it. But I survived.


Then in January or February I went to CQC and heard the organization lady!! And she said to get something else to put your big board on, and utilize all that space under it.... and SO!!! 


After shopping around for a long while - I found what I wanted.  And when the wind started blowing, I so secretly pulled it out, and said- "Hey Guy's - I'll make cookies if you put this together"   


Total Win Win situation!!

So - here is my new ironing table!!!I didn't know how many cubbies I really wanted filled with the colored buckets, but it looks like I guessed ok!!  And it is sturdy!!!

After I was all organized - I finished up my Sweet Treat Quilt top. I did the borders different - only because ... patience is not my friend.... and I wanted it DONE!!!  




And then... because deadlines make me work faster - I started a Carpenter Star quilt... what is the deadline you ask? June 1st!  Judy L is going to post some feather videos - and I want to follow along, and she is going to feather a quilt like this!!!

I figure I will follow along, and have a Quilt of Valor done and ready to go!!!


So.... how is your weekend going so far? Please hope the wind does die down for us, we still have some outdoor projects to get to!!

Friday Check In

I Succumbed to the temptation.... Judy has a little sew along going on - called Sweet Treats. I didn't think that I would join in, but then.... I started dreaming about the quilt... so I did!!  You can find the pattern start Here

So here is my Sweet Treats - And you know the kind of sad part? This is all made with 2 inch scraps.... and when I was sewing them, I couldn't figure out how they were going to be 8 inches...and then I realized I didn't add all the strips together.

Must have not had enough chocolate in the process!!

I was trying to get some good pictures, but I missed! Wrangler Man went out to the backside, and as he was coming in he was herding two coyotes - it was amazing,.. and I couldn't get in front of him and get pictures fast enough. Who ever heard of herding coyotes!! 

Then - before I get to the link up - I just had to share this sunset... there are some days the colors are just so amazing!!   


Well - lets check in again... I had fun checking out the pictures from last week. I have figured out how to browse things on my cell phone, but I haven't figured out how to comment yet.... must have a lesson with the boys!!

QOV Friday .

First off - please forgive me - I have been remiss in hosting our Quilt of Valor progress - either for just showing off or for the 12 in 12 in 2012  Challenge  So.... I am back with it - I know that I need some motivation - not that I don't want to make lots of quilts, just that sometimes life gets in the way and I get sidetracked..... so.... lets link up .. if you don't have a blog - email me a picture and I will add it in this post for all to see

Quilted

I committed to Quilting and Pieceing 12 Quilts of Valor this year, but I never promised they would be the same ones LOL --- I think I meant it that way, and it may still be that way - but I did not make this quilt. It was made by Jessica in Denver,... and I have fun quilting it. I wanted to try some new things, and I think they look pretty good!!  

Notice there is still some chalk marks on there, but I will wash it after it is bound and it will be gone....

It looks puffy - but its not, I think that is wierd! I quilted in each block, and when you carry it its not to fluffy.... I guess I like the effect tho!!

Pat showed me how to make a new star *deallie* and I wanted to try it - so this solid block gave me a great place to try it.

See the chalked star? I did that in the borders even with each block.

And another star - just cuz I was so tickled they worked!!! And looked equidistant from each other ( thats a math term, and I am just throwing that in there... it sounded good LOL)
