Sunday Stash Report

I had to get out of the house a little bit, and I needed to get some quilts to Ft Carson, so .... I did, and my friend Laura owns a quilt shop called Na-La's Quilt shoppe in Fountain - and I had to go there.....


It is a great shop!! They have wonderful fabrics - a lot that i had never seen before... and she has longarm supplies. 

I fell in love with these Fat Quarters... I have no idea what pattern they would look good in, but I seriously love  them. I think the dragonflies clinched it for me!!

Any ideas as to a pattern for them?

And these were end cuts - 2 yard's ish each - on sale!!!  I like dots!!

First off - the stash report - I had to take a little trip to town, and there is a little quilt shop, and I accidentally, on purpose,  stopped by  and They had some cute stuff!!

Stash Report Sunday

A while back I won a gift certificate at the Fat Quarter Shop.... and now - I spent it!!! YAY!!


I also made some backing this week - 5 to be exact out of my stash, 3 out of donated and uncounted fabrics - and 1 for a quilt for a friend.... so YAY - it looks pretty good!!

Sunday Stash 3/11/12

My stash report is just not very exciting!!  I am sewing up lots of string blocks because my string bins are overflowing, and that means I need to get busy.... but the strings - they are leftovers from all mu other cuttings .... and I can't count them twice..   


well... I could... and then maybe wrangler man would let me buy more.... nope! I must. be. honest. LOL


SO!! First - I purchased this black to go with my March color palette fabrics - I needed the black - truly I did....

And - I know this isn't the best picture ( I took it with my phone) these are the fabrics I plan to use for the March challenge... and I started my challenge sort of....

Stash report 2/25/12

Oh laa laa 
We went and did a little shopping this week - but I blame the wind.... tee hee


Little bit has finished his zoo quilt top and we needed a backing, but he has not found a suitable one in my stash. We had to be in town, and had to be near a Joanns - so we just decided to check.   He and Middle Bit decided on Fleece for backing.. I think that is what it is called.  And we got a yard with puppies on it to make a puppy bed...


They decided that with a batting and fleece for the backing it would be the warmest quilt ever!!!  


We had our State Guild Meeting yesterday and a quilt shop near it called Laughing Ladies was having a sale. So I picked up 2 yards of cheddar to finish my Jacobs Ladder Quilt a long, and 2 yards of a really odd blue --- I think it will be a border for the JL QAL


Oh - and I found out even more people were coming to the Quilt of Valor sew time this afternoon, so hurried up and cut another 150 10 Inch squares...

Stash Report 2/19/12

Yay - I finally started cutting into my Color Challenge Fabrics!!  And I am still cutting up my scraps into layer cakes... I thought I would show you the madness

here is how this is working... I am grabbing a pile of fabrics, ironing it, and then cutting. If it works to cut ten inch squares - I do that... if it needs to be stripped it goes into that pile on the right ( behind the orange box). If I can cut a 10 from it, I do, and then I strip the rest of the fabric into 5 inch strips, and 2 1/2 inch strips.... in the end I know that i will have enough for another couple sew days.... We will have Quilt of Valor tops galore!!!  


And since I count it out when I cut it, as I am not always the one sewing it, my number look good... so hows that for coming clean?  And knowing that in the next couple of months a lot of sewing will be taking place, but not a lot of stash moving out..... sigh

Stash Report 2/12/12

Back in Action...thats what I am calling this week!!! I spent a lot of time cutting up layer cake pieces for our QOV Sew day ( its the 26th of February in Greeley is you want to join us)


And  I made a few string blocks.... and I put borders on a quilt ( check out yesterdays post) AND the boys and I started their zoo quilts.... and ..... okay I can't remember the last and.,... but we sewed!!

There are 15 finished blocks, and I think 12 in process....

Andone care to guess how many pieces there are in here now????

Stash Report 1/29/12

Well.... for all my good intentions.... the quilt shop lured me in.... it enticed me.... but I have a good excuse..... we had to go to Cheyenne.... and it was cold... and windy... and we had to go inside someplace warm.... and the warmth just wore me down.... and so did these little goofs ( brother didn't want to be in the picture)!!

These animal prints were just adorable... little bit asked if we could get them, and middle bit said - oh we could make a strippy quilt, with cool blue borders, and I went - well  OF COURSE!! Lets get the entire line..... oh sheesh.....

And they are so adorable!! We want to start on it right away ( so maybe my stash report will look good NEXT week LOL)

And they had these eagle panels... you all know I adore Fred ( our eagle) so I was just tickled with these... I have no clue how or what I will set around them.... but it will come!

Oh - and all of the above fabrics came from The Quilted Corner in Cheyenne. I am pretty sure if you google them they have an online shop.

and then..... see I was bad.... I ordered a Jelly roll to match my Layer Cake Quilt  and they were having a sale on Layer cakes... can you believe it.... and its all outdoorsy fabrics. I am sure I can find a person who would LOVE these fabrics - at least in my house!!

Stash Report 1/21/12

Holy Buckets!!! I used a lot of fabrics!! I made forty two batrillion backings for Quilts of Valor... okay just kidding - I made 7 backings.  And I cut up pounds of scraps into 10 inch squares and 2 1/2 inch strips.  The 10 inch squares are for our QOV Layer Cake Quilt Class in February.... but I know me, if I procrastinate..... I will be up all night the night before.....

And I count my fabric used as it is cut, especially since the backs go with some cool tops, and go out to AWESOME local Longarmers - who ROCK,... and help get these Quilts of Valor into our Veterans hands much quicker than I alone could do!!!  

As far as backings go - I am about out of solid fabrics to make backings, and will have to start piecing them a lot more than before... I'll have to figure out a good way to do that..... ( suggestions are welcome!)

A little note about the out fabrics - I measured the backs - cuz that was easy. But all the scraps I cut up I wieghed. I used 3.5 yards per pound, altho I think it is really closer to 4 yards per pound, but all the scraps - if they were big enough went in my string bucket, and if they were too small went in my pound puppy bag..... there is a lady in our guild who makes pillows for adult dogs....

Stash Report 1/8/12

Oh boy!! I missed last weeks Stash Report - because I was calendarally challenged... you understand right? I was waiting for the Rose Parade to start, who knew they don't do the Rose Parade on Sundays?  Totally threw my day off!!.... maybe even the WHOLE week!!!

This week found me all over our state and all over Wyoming. I am just retrieved my emails -I am scared... so if I am slow responding, love me anyways. Wrangler Mans Grandpa passed away this week, and we headed up to Thermopolis WY for a family funeral. Bob was 98!! 

But... they have quilt shops in that neck of the woods... so we had to see at least one!  and I found a few goodies to go home with me.

We stopped at Sheep Camp Quilt Supply - and found these. It was such a nice break. It is 7 hours from our house to Thermopolis. My car is large, but not that large for that time period... you all understand I am sure ;-)
