 May the 4th be with you!!!

This was such a fun client quilt!! She used all sorts of awesome Star Wars prints!!

I was impressed by the variety of them, and my kids... didn't really want this quilt to go back to its owner !!

I could not resist sharing this quilt... I had SUCH FUN quilting it!!

Double Wedding Ring and ................... Finished!! (or not) Friday!!!

A client called and said I have a Quilt top, and I don't know what to do with it. I want it to be usable - can you help?   And I thought  - You know? I may be equipped to do this!! 😂🤣

So she brought me this double wedding ring top.

I had to repair a few seams first, and try to soak some stains out. A few stains wouldn't come out - but! at least it is clean!! 

And TA DA!!

The sun even cooperated to get a few well lighted photos!!!

This is not the whole thing - it is quite large, but I didn't want it to hang on the ground.  - Note - the right side was squared off - so I had 3 scalloped sides and one flat ... interesting.

I am glad that she chose an all over design - I think it helped to tame some of the burbles in this quilt. Which for a hand pieced quilt was rather well done!!!

Monday Checking in!!!

 I have been working on my Stars Unfurled Quilt ....

Got all the pieces cut out - and yay!!!  I started stitching....

This is going to be a fun one ! and I am having fun pattern testing it ... the pattern is called Stars Unfurled - and is designed by Katie Mae . Someone asked what pattern testing involves - and to tell you the truth - I think it depends on the requestor... I have done it for one other person and her requests were different that Katies - Both a lot of fun so far!!

I also finished Quilting this awesome Modern Quilt for a client. Now talk about fun - each diamond was the coolest fabrics - and I enjoyed checking them all out!

I used stencils and free hand -

And!! the best part - it made it back to my client and her daughter claimed it immediately!! I am sure that means she should make another one right??

Isn't this just fun!!  I have never made a diamond quilt before - but now this one make me want to try it!!

This one was fun too! the blocks had been pieced and stuck in a box, Deb found them and found the original plan for the quilt - and Voila! now it is finished!

THIS!!! Flew over my house the other day. And when I was downloading photos I actually captured it! I was standing on my deck shooting straight up!  It was so noisy it sounded like a 16wheeler was coming up the road... and my dog and I looked, but this is what we saw!!

ok - back to the finish!

My friends Mom loves Cats, and she thought it would be great to have a quilt made for her, that matched her decor, and was special.  This is what we came up with!

The pattern is from Missouri Star Quilt Co - Someone had asked me that earlier.... so there you go!
The quilting pattern is called Feathers A La mode and its from Dawnas Design Threads

Happy Friday you all.... our heaters have kicked on, and we have lakes in front of the house - our ground is quite saturated..... hello Green Grass in a few weeks!!

Modern Medallion Quilt

I love seeing what kind of quilts my Clients come up with, and when they are so unique - it is really fun to find ways to quilt them.

Now - this client has specific likes and dislikes as to quilting designs - sometimes that adds to the challenge, other times it helps you focus real quick!  

This one was fun, I had ideas, she had ideas, and this is the final quilt.

( PS - I had NO ideas as to the piecing of the quilt - that is all her, my ideas were on the quilting side)

Its a LARGE quilt - it didn't even fit in my living room. I have a large living room.....

Isn't that just a cool quilt?  I think she did an amazing job - she had an idea and just kept adding to it!

I don't know about you, but I always love looking at the back and checking out all that yummy texture!

Oh I had such fun working on this one! She loved it too- so that was win -win!! Right?

High Plains Heritage Quilters 2017 Quilt

Here is the story on the High Plains Heritage Quilters 2017 Quilt

The title of the quilt is "Les Fleurs du Jardin." This quilt was 
appliqued by Barbara Cochran (1941-2015), Denver/Fort Collins CO, and 
Darcy Garretson, Haxtun. 

Piecing, appliqued sashing and binding by HPHQ 
raffle committee in the spring of 2017.

The machine quilting on wool/cotton batting by Alycia Carmin of Quiltygirl.com, 
Kersey, Colorado.

Block of the Month pattern designed by Lisa Shiller of Village Classics in 1998.

Fabrics in the quilt top are from the 1998-2002 era from Barbara's fabric collection, the backing the only new fabric in the quilt. 

Barbara's blocks were among the fabric donated to HPHQ in 2016. 

The unidentified blocks were identified through pictures shared on the 
Facebook Applique group after which the pattern was located in Barbara's book collection. The finished quilt measures 63" X 75"

The quilt raffle will be held September 30, 2017 at 4:00 pm at the 
Haxtun Community Center, Haxtun, Colorado.

I LOOOOVED this quilt! It was so much fun and detail to check out! 

Here are a few close ups that I took of the quilting ;-)

That Piping ( sort of) the yellow between the two blues was just beautiful and I wanted it to pop

so on one side there are lines, and the other I feathered the heck out of!

Each block left great room to play and enhance the applique

This is truly a gorgoeus quilt and I was so lucky to be the one that quilted it

Cats Cats Cats... its now a complete top!!

My little cat quilt is coming right along!  This is a quilt that a client asked me to make, based on the colors of her front room. 

I had a lot of fun choosing fabrics with her, and imagining what the cats would look like.  We both loved the way the Batik fabrics made such a difference in each cat.

As a matter of fact, some of the colors in the batiks changed so much in just one piece of fabric, that I could get 2 different cats out of it, and you couldn’t tell it was the same piece!

Here is my "Cats Cats Cats" in progress:

AS I made them, they were fun to start placing on the wall - and envision where I was going with it!

















And all of my "Cats"  up on the wall. They place together pretty nicely. My cats in real life, try to trip me on a regular basis - they make me look clumsy!

I had some Batik Strips left over,

and so.... what any good quilter does... ( Okay you can laugh now, I am not always this disciplined)  I made them into a border!!

And now.... I will quilt it!!

So you will see it one more time before it goes to its own home!!

Antique Quilt - Continued:

Remember the quilt I showed you Monday? Well!

We decided to do an all over on it -

One - because she really wanted the fabrics to shine - not the quilting.  and
Two - to help ease in the fullness without having to pleat anything ....

and so - I proceeded ;-)

This is it on the machine - the centers were pretty taught - but the edges got a lot rippley.....

I basted lightly so that I had some guideline, and then got to praying

I'm thinking the praying worked 

In the whole quilt I only had to take one little pleat, 

and after basting it closed - you couldn't even tell 

Here it is all finished - 

She thinks it will work well!

We used Quilters Dream Cotton Select

In our opinion this is a perfect Batting for these antique quilts

There is No scrim - so it is just soft and drapey

and doesn't wear against the old fabrics

And here is the back

You can see the quilting a little bit better

Added some Whimsey to it ;-)

Anddddd

Look what I found...

I have no idea what I will do with it - and of course there is NO flat on this either

but it looked lonely and so it came home with me...

Oh I am bragging a little bit here -

LOOK at this quilt!!! My Client is an Antique Lady and oh man does she find the coolest quilts!!

This is up next in my Quilting line.....

Isn't that just amazing!!

it does not lie flat anywhere!!

But we are both okay with that - the beauty of it far far far outweighs it's flaws!!

Alright - I'm done bragging - ha ha!!

I started even another project this weekend - I am having WAY to much fun sorting my scraps now!

These are blocks from the Wonky Star Block drive - but they were boo boo's as they were too big.

But!

I never want a block to feel left out - so I am on a mission to make it into a

way cool QOV!!!

I think it will work

The Back

Sometimes I love the back of the quilts SO MUCH - I forget to take a photo of the front!!!

These are the backs of the last two client Quilts that I finished!!

Isn't that texture just so much fun???

I loved looking at it in the sun!!

This one was fun too!

The front is all Pinks and Light Blues .

I will be honest, I was a bit worried about a Navy Backing

But I really like how it turned out

And my Clients were both happy too

That's the best part!

Busy Hands Quilt

Finishing up another's quilt

There is a lovely gentleman at our church who's wife passed away.  One day he caught me to see if I could help him.   He had Two quilts that his wife had started and wanted them finished so he could put them out on the beds in the house.

He handed me a bag.... of which, I panicked - and then set down to business.

There were pictures in the bag, and hand cut pieces of fabric, and two distinct quilts worth of colors.

and ta da.... here they are!!

This one ( above) is going to go in a room with lots of raggedy ann and andy dolls that she had collected over the years, and patriotic memorabilia.   I thought the color choices she made were perfect!

This one is going in the grandsons room

It had planes and trains in it

It gave me a great feeling to be able to finish these for him

and to hand them back all ready to use.

I made him happy - it was a good day!
