Double Wedding Ring and ................... Finished!! (or not) Friday!!!

A client called and said I have a Quilt top, and I don't know what to do with it. I want it to be usable - can you help?   And I thought  - You know? I may be equipped to do this!! 😂🤣

So she brought me this double wedding ring top.

I had to repair a few seams first, and try to soak some stains out. A few stains wouldn't come out - but! at least it is clean!!

And TA DA!!

The sun even cooperated to get a few well lighted photos!!!

This is not the whole thing - it is quite large, but I didn't want it to hang on the ground.  - Note - the right side was squared off - so I had 3 scalloped sides and one flat ... interesting.

I am glad that she chose an all over design - I think it helped to tame some of the burbles in this quilt. Which for a hand pieced quilt was rather well done!!!

You definitely did a good job of making it usable. The quilting looks great and so does the piecing.

It was a difficult assignment and you did an awesome job, Alycia. Not only you saved an heirloom quilt you also made it usable. Win-Win. Have an awesome weekend!

Quite a collection of prints in this quilt. You sure did put a lot of energy to make it presentable. Great job! ;^)

I bet that squared off edge was meant to be the top, so you could pull it up and not be bothered by the scallops. Nice save! Happy Easter!

Nice that you could help her out by finishing it up. Did you bind it too? Perhaps the straight edge was meant for the top of the quilt?

And now it is a beauty for sure! A very nice job. The one side was flat so that it would be the pillow side on beds. Practical when you think of it.

Yup! I agree! The straight edge was usually the top. Over the pillows , if big enough. Or topped with pillows in matching pillow shams, maybe. It’s just lovely!
I am determined to find myself an outdoor place to display a quilt for a photo shoot. And I’ll be needing some “ quilt holders” like yours! A margarita? Yes, please!

Wow, imagine this was hand quilted! How wonderful it landed in your capable hands, Alycia. The quilting will certainly help its longevity and is pretty to boot.

That's fantastic. I suppose with the flat edge, there is no guessing which way is "up"?

Alycia, you did a great job on that quilt. I love a double wedding ring quilt, though I've never made one...yet!! And I didn't know you hosted, Finished or Not Friday. I'll add your logo to the side bar of my blog! Thanks for hosting another fun link up!

Wow, what a wonderful job you did on this quilt! Double wedding rings are not for the faint of heart, especially when there are popped seams and scalloped edges! Your client is very lucky to have found you. Now this top can be used and displayed and enjoyed.

Back when I inherited a vintage dbl wedding ring quilt, I really wish I had sent it to YOU instead of where I did send it. The quilt you did looks amazing!
