Monday Monday

I think this may be the last design wall Monday of 2015.... wow.....

I am working on my Bonnie Mystery slowly but surely.... For some reason I read the " clue won't be posted on Christmas" and I went - oh Yay! I'll have two weeks for the Clue 4.... and then Clue 5 came out of Saturday... and it was blizzarding - so I got a bit of stitching time in - and here is where I am:

ALL of Clue 4 is cut and patiently awaiting my sewing machine:

Some of the sets have been stitched and are awaiting their final seam:

And here are the ones I do have finished:

Along the way - I am always working on a leader Ender Project.   I found these pieces in a box, and stacked them up - and just kept working on them through 2015 - And here it is!

Oh first - I wanted to show you the in progress.... just to prove it didn't miraculously finish itself you know!

and ta- da!!!

Now to pick a new Leader Ender for 2016

Monday, December 21, 2015

Good Morning!!

It's the first day of Christmas break - and I had to get up early to take Little Bit to Basketball practice. It was a short enough practice that it made no sense to drive back home - so I read in the car.... with the heater on - its only 15 degrees out there...

Now I am back - and ready to show you all the progress on my Bonnie Mystery!

Clue 4:  This is where I stopped yesterday.  ( Saturday I got some time to work on it, Sunday - Star Wars beckoned)

So - it looks like I have a lot more cutting to do before I get to stitch.... But all my Wings are cut!

This was the result of my Clue 3  ( there are bars cut too - I just didn't get them in the photo)

And the results of my Clue 2  ( yay - I finally cut the right size cream. On a good note - the miscuts were great for the 4 patch clue - so I have no scraps left from my scraps YAY)

The Mysteries ...Continued

The Mysteries are in full swing and a LOT of fun!!

So first, The Bonnie Mystery.... I am a little slower that I wanted to be, and am still on Clue 2 ... I just about had it finished, and then the boys needed shirts ironed before we headed out to church and!!!

To the Nutcracker!!!!   My cousin ( in law, by marriage - but I am totally claiming her) was in the Nutcracker in Fort Collins and we all went to watch her - HOW FANTASTIC!!!  She played 3 different characters and so so amazing!!

So - My ironing went from Mystery pieces to shirts!!

I wanted to show you my oops first!! I read the directions, re-read the directions and proceeded to cut my pieces all 1/2 inch short!!

Good thing I have a stash -
I re-cut and got to stitching....

Today - I will finish Clue 2!!! That's my goal!

On to the Alycia Mystery!!
It is all done now!!
So - sadly I won't be accepting any new people into the Mystery group until January when we start prepping for the next one. So, mark your calendars to come join in then.
This is called
Stars a Waving!

And of course,
I had to do one in plaids as well
Ha ha!!

The pattern can be found in my Craftsy store
The link is in the side bar too

Hope you all had a great weekend too
and lots of Mystery Quilt progress!!

Design Wall Monday - The Mysteries Continue

I had a lot of quilty-ness going on this week and I LOVED IT!!!!

The Alycia Mystery progressed...... and I ironed fabrics for the Bonnie Mystery... AND!!! I ironed the right colors!

Ready.... Here is the progress on the Bonnie Mystery.  I did not finish the whole step - which sits just right with me - Sunday - was our Quilt of Valor sew day and Holy Moly!!!  Our group bound 25 quilts, I trimmed a lot of them for them to bind.  We played, we cut, we ate..... it's all good!!!

You might have guessed... I am doing my mystery in plaids.... yep - Plaid number a gazillion ( ha ha)

I have 1/3 of the clue done
The solid grey and the red plaid funky geese!
I'm ready to keep on moving this week

And now on to the Alycia Mystery..... This is Clue 4...
We are getting closer.

We also got  a little time outside...
Here is Ranch Kitty
Her real name is Two-Face

(Anon's -please leave me a way to respond )

and so.... it is what's on my design wall as well!!

As you can tell - this one is done  ( well - confession time : It's not bound )
Are you surprised that I used plaid??? Ha ha ha

And these are the fabrics for my next one!!

It is a fun quilt - AND!! It even has an original block designed by yours truly!

Oh - and before you wonder - what is the A1? Well it is the first mystery that I am hosting at this site - so that;s the 1 - and the A - well that is me!   If I tell you the real title - it reveals too much, But this quilt does have it's own name.

Wonky Star Design Wall

Sunday was a QOV Sew Day for us and we had the University of Northern Colorado Softball team show up!! yay!! it is always such fun to have them join us in our efforts. I believe this is the 3rd year in a row!

They spent the day working on Wonky Star Blocks - we had a literal Chain Gang going on!
One of the girls broke her tibia and had to have surgery, so we sat her at the ironing table - and she became a master. The rest worked in pairs and stitched, and ironed and trimmed - and we might have had a little talking going on (just a little though)

Here they are in process

and here is the whole group in front of their progress
They made a LOT of blocks!

There were 17 softball players
and 7 of them were new to our sew days
It was SEW much fun!!
Thanks girls for your support - see you at the Softball fields!

Still Working on the Plaids

As I worked on my Plaid Phase Quilts
I didn't throw one teeny tiny piece away
and
I kept looking at the scraps
and then I decided I had better get to stitching something up
SO.......

All the Flying Geese Look a Likes are the half square triangle Cut offs
from my Plaid Pineapple that I made
(photo at bottom, claimed by Son #1)

Because it was so nice outside
and Someone else was making dinner - I took another shot!

And then I tried to get all smart like and hang it up,
only the wind was blowing just a tad bit,
and it kept falling

That sis where I am so far - I will work on some bordery type pieces with the other scraps
I would like it to be bigger ( Its about 50 x 50 right now)

Here is the Original Plaid Pineapple
that the half square scraps came from.

I am off to Quilt  ----
I have a fabulous Client Quilt up for today - I am excited to get to work on it
(It is yours Maxine ;-)   )

I was impressed that Wrangler Man could do his the opposite way.
Now we need to hang them on our walls!

AND!!
There is a little progress on my Orca Bay
The Blocks are now together
and there is a little tiny border on it

Of course it was Labor Day Weekend
Two of my sons ran on Friday

Saturday we headed to go see my oldest run

On the way back we stopped at the Great Sand Dunes of Colorado

Those were SO COOL!
They are these huge sand dunes right at the base of the mountains
The 14 thousand foot mountains
SO beautiful!!

progress.....

Sort of.... After the Fires on Saturday, we thought we were in for a relaxing Sunday, when about 3 pm the tornado weather warnings started going off.... Of course we are rural enough - the news channel says - Tornado damages.... details at 5... ummm really?  We are people too!!

Some of the fire damage . No one was injured - all's good

So I go to Twitter. Matt Makens From the Channel 7 news - he is my total favoristst ( that's a word - I promise) Weather man - he has maps, radars, specific locations.. we decided from his info we better grab the dogs and go to the basement.

I asked if we could bring the pigs... I was vetoed. The tornados went to the north of us... and the temps dropped about 20 degrees.... NOW !! It was time to stitch!!
When they told us to take shelter I wanted to know why.... this was building

Oh ya - and all this time we are waiting in the basement.... I have a peach cobbler baking. Probably the first I have made in a gazillion years - and I am totally yelling at this tornado warning to NOT BURN my COBBLER.... it didn't.... it was good....

Okay - so Stitching... ready???

Blueberry Crumble is now a top!!!

This is so you can see it both ways - I don't know which it the top , bottom or sides, but I don't care - it spoke to me to stop right here - and that is what I did!!

And to impress you all some more!  I picked out the backing, prepped it, and pinned the whole shebang - so when my kids go back to school..... I will cry my eyes out while quilting this puppy!!

Okay - maybe not cry my eyes out, but I will miss them..... and their ability to do chores, and make me lunch, and talk with me, and make me laugh, and .... oh boy.... see why I cry???

Row by Row Design Wall (ish)

I have been collecting these license plates - and purchasing some of the rows of the Quilt shops.  I really Liked the row from Sew Downtown - our local quilt shop.... so I have been trying to find a little time to work on it.....

The pieced are coming together.
I will tell you -  I have made a few pattern corrections to this one -
Not enough of some squares cut... some not the right size...

Do you tell the shop?  Or just carry on?

And Look!!
My Mom and Dad are helping me out
They took a little trip
and I might have texted them some of the shops along their route......

This was Utah ;-)

A glimpse into my mind

or an organized look at chaos!!

I planned my FAL QAL list for the next three months. and I thought - well I had better pull out my blueberry crumble. It's the one I am struggling the most with. I had a clear vision as to how to start it - but the vision got VERY very muddy when it came time to calling it done.....

So!!!  My goal this weekend was to get it out, make a plan - and Oh! Look!!  There are projects on top of it!!

Well - I will just get those out, and see what needs to be done to get them finished.....

and........ Thus........ This is whats on the wall this morning:

Oh!!! And in the midst of this - The dear husband says - Hey I need to go to the sale barn.... want to go with me?  I said when are you leaving. He says oh about an hour.   I say - can we leave 15 minutes earlier and stop at Inspirations Quilt shop????

They are a part of the Row by Row Shop hop - I might have NEEDED their row and their plate!!

And when we got home we had a huge rain storm ( for all of 15 minutes)
but because our ground is completely saturated we had 3 lakes, immediately
And THIS!!

It said - your brain will be okay

And then I came back inside and my brain went - Ohh!!! You need to come up with a plan for your July sew day - and this popped into my mind and I went to work - and this morning........

This is the argument going on in my brain
( or brian - depending on how much caffiene you have had so far)

Design Wall Monday

You have to know what I have on my Design wall right?  I mean Step 2 has been posted.... can you take a guess??

Oh - and before I Show you the photo - many of you ask when I sleep.... well.... this photo is taken late at night - so its not so good in its coloring ;-) But you know how it is - the kids FINALLY all go to sleep and your going to quilt for just 15 minutes... and the next thing you know- it's midnight....

The colors look better - sort of..... but the light attracted miller moths...

Hope you all had a great weekend. It was Fathers Day - and I didn't get to spend it with my Dad . I was with my Dad in Law. On our way we stopped for a snack and we all laughed . I had to have this coke.... it's what my Dad calls me .....

Chevron Design Wall

We have ( okay I) have finished all the chevron blocks I am going to make..... and then I begged Little Bit ( who I now look up to)   to give me a crazy awesome design that was different than anything I had seen....

and he went nuts!  And then I fed him - and this is what he came up with!

Ta- da!!

The blocks are those Chevron Blocks from the Missouri Star Quilt Company Tutorial.
And surprisingly  - that was all scrap fabric
Who knew I had at least 10 inch squares in that pile???

Chevron Design Wall

I might have gone "Radio Silent" for a few days - and I LOVED it!!! There was No Service.... No Cell, No Texts, very Very Very limited Wi fi....

Of course, I hit the cell zone on the way back and boy did the phone start dinging... that was hilarious... I wasn't sure what to answer first... Texts, Calls, or Email.....

So.... I got a lot done.... and here is one of the projects I started...

It is those Chevron Blocks - that are the Tutorial from MSQC .... Here

Alphabet Monday

Today I have a DWM and ALYOF to show you..... lots of alphbets!!

When I go on Post or am with my Military buddies they always have acronyms and I feel lost.... It's a language unto its own.  as a Quilter - I now have my own language... yep - my own acronyms and letters and I'm going to talk like that and see if they can follow......

We live in a great Rural area - with a school that pretty much is the town. The FFA is a BIG part of that school. In May we have a Livestock show and fundraiser for FFA. I was asked to make a donation ( auction quilt) and in my head - I had LOADS of time.

Then I looked at the calendar - and , well, I was wrong....

So.... My DWM ( Design wall monday) and my April ALYOF ( A Lovely Year of Finishes) will be:

To make an FFA(Future Farmers of America) Quilt.....   Wish me luck....

( PS - this is on the floor, because I refuse to take my design wall stall project down)
