Another QOV Finish ... and!!! Finished ( or not) Friday!!!

 You might Recognize this one:

Under the Starry Sky - It was a Quiltygirl© ( hey that's me!!) Mystery (done in 2020)

And oh my - The tops were phenomenal!!! The colors, the stars, I loved seeing them all!!

Well, Laura made this awesomely Super scrappy one - and!! I got to quilt it!! -

I love seeing how scrappy they can be! Won't it be fun for a Veteran to be looking at all those different fabrics?

A close up of the quilting, I knew you all wanted to see that part right?
I am off to a good QOV start this year!!!  My goal is always 1 a month, sometimes I get there, sometimes I don't!  But I chose a word for 2023 - JOY - so I will find JOY in adding a little extra love to this quilt before it goes to it's binder.

and now it is your turn to spread some Joy - Show us what you are working on, what you finished, and be sure to link back to this post to spread even more joy!!

Mystery A11 - Now known as UNDER THE STARRY SKY

Thank you all so much for all of the AWESOME name selections for our Mystery A11 - I loved them all !

The one that stood out to us was *Under the Starry Sky*   . I think it spoke to me and my family as we all live pretty rurally and at night... the stars are so bright. We like the idea of a Veteran/Servicemember sleeping under a Quilt of Stars and seeing what we do.

Under the Starry Sky

it is!

A few of you shared photos with me!

Barbara N's!

Judy C's
umm!!! Dears.... Plaid!!
Be still my heart

Mary H

Kevin the Quilter ( just needs to add the outer border -but that scrappiness!)

and then a few of you shared your blog posts with me!

Sane and Crazy

I have truly loved seeing all of these - and even more on Facebook etc!! It makes me happy and I hope that a Lot of Veterans/Service Members will feel the love!  Don't forget - there is a Vet that needs to have a Quilt of Valor - email Nancy at CalltoAction@ QOVF.org and she can hook you up!!

Mystery A11 CLUE 6 - and!!! THE FINAL CLUE!!

Welcome to the END of the Mystery!!!

I will be excited to hear if you solved it ahead of time?  or if you had an idea?  or if you just made the clues and relaxed - knowing it would be solved at some time???

I told you it will be finished before Thanksgiving - its a week before... its all good right? and if you are a Bonnie Hunter fan ( I mean! who is not??) you are all finished and ready to start in on her mystery!!

First off, remember I told you that QOV had some backlogged requests in certain states? If you would like this quilt to go to that - email CalltoAction@ QOVF .org - and they will tell you where it should go.

Second off... THIS is NOT my original design!!

Years ago when I joined Mystery Quilts 4 Military , Nancy and Judy ( PatchworkTimes.com) were hosting the the mysteries ( before I took over) and one of the first mysteries I stitched with them - was one designed by Judy.

The size was a bit smaller - as the size requirements were smaller. So earlier this year I reached out to her - and said - Can I please steal your Quilt and re-size it to today's QOV requirements, and run it as a mystery?  and she didn't even hesitate - she said GO FOR IT!

And so! I did!!!

So this Mystery is with Thanks to Judy!!

So here it is....the finish... the reveal..... the FINAL CLUE!!

CLUE SIX - THE FINAL CLUE

See you tomorrow for Finished or Not Finished Friday!!

*the Clue is in the Google Drive - so if you can't get it the first time, close your browser and try again.

*if something doesn't make sense the first time - read through it again, and look at the pictures. I forget I am a very visual person - so I tend to look at photos first... so hopefully that will help you too.

* Have a ton of fun - quilts are meant to be fun and enjoyable!!

* Many of you have said that you are interested in making this quilt for the Backlog of Quilts of Valor in other states.... if you are - that is SO awesome - email Nancy at CALLTOACTION @ qovf.org

I have gotten some comments that I can't respond to - One - a person wanted to use this quilt for the Quilts of Valor Backlog - That is SO SO awesome!! But! you didn't give me a way to contact you - so! You can either email me, or email Nancy at CallToAction@qovf.org and she can tell you where to send your quilt.

Someone wanted to know if the two clues were all there is... well - no - I won't leave you without a finished quilt... that would be just plain mean, and even tho I can be devious ( just kidding) I really wouldn't do that to a quilter - I hate having UFO's!

Again - all the clues and the info (including when the last clue will be) is in the posts listed under the A11 Tab ;-)

All right quilters.... stitch away!!

Mystery A11 Fabric Requirements

Happy Thursday Morning!!

Today is the day!!! the Fabric requirements for Mystery A11 are here!!

The first clue will be October 15th - so you have plenty of time to finish all of those UFO's.... right?

Fabric  Requirements

Based on 40 inch wide fabric

Red   1 3/8 yards

Blue   2 1/8 yards

White 2 ¼ yards

This does NOT include backing or binding.

As you know I do all of these mysteries in Patriotics or Plaids… but

What you are really looking for it TWO contrasting Darks ( red/Blue) (Purple/red) (Black/red)  and one light – this light needs to make your darks pop.

If you decide to go scrappy – I think it will work, but remember I LOVE SCRAPS, therefore anything scrappy to me is pretty!.  You will just need to adjust the directions to give you the same number of pieces. Most pieced will be 3 ½ inches or larger…. Hope that helps a little.

This quilt will finish at approximately 60 x 80 inches

Here is a link to the PDF!!!

A11 fabric requirements pdf

As many of you know -I am a huge supporter of Quilts of Valor - have been for 16 years. As the organization has grown - so has the number of Quilts requested. And knowing, ( and witnessing ) first hand what a difference an award of a Quilt of Valor can make to a Veteran touched by war, I was surprised to learn that there is actually a back log.   As in there are more requests than there are quilts.

We have been SO blessed and SO supported here in Colorado, that we are not really behind. The little bit of behind we are is due to Covid - not a lack of quilts.... but those that are backlogged - it tears at my heart.... I want each Veteran to know that they are loved.. and sooner , rather than later.

So! Quilts of Valor is starting to roll out what they are naming * Call to Action 2018*  this is where the team is going to start working on all the backlogged requests... so here is where you can help!

1. Make a quilt

2. If you are a QOV member and you would like your completed quilt to be part of the CTA2018 program, please contact Nancy or Ginger and they will provide you with the name of a veteran to receive your quilt and where to send it.

3.  If you are not a QOV member and would like to donate your completed quilt to a requesting veteran, contact Nancy or Ginger and they will provide information for where to send your quilt top or complete quilt.

So see - you can help - as we are working through this mystery - maybe you will decide you would like it to go to a Veteran touched by war, that is a part of this back log.....  and we would LOVE that!

CTA2018 is just getting underway - so in the following clues I will be providing the ways to get a hold on Nancy and Ginger....

now!! as of today - message me - or leave me a comment with your email and I will get you in touch with Ginger or Nancy... they are setting up a direct email for this CTA2018  at the moment .
