The Ribbon Quilt!

Earlier this year we stitched on *The Ribbon*

That was a fun Quilt a long for me - I assumed I would have mine quilted by now... but I don't - so I have something to look forward too!!!

But I finally did get the pattern into one compiled single design.

I know most of you should have all the steps - but if you are showing your off and they want the pattern - you can now send them to my ETSY store - to get it!!

I have it 25% off right now - so super cheap - and that will end October 25 (cuz 25 /25 right??)

Here is the LINK TO THE PATTERN : The Ribbon  and now thru OCT 25 - you can get 25% off by using the code -RIBBON

Thanks for all who stitched along - and yes!! You know I will show it again when I finally finish!!!!

Playing with the panel

Remember the Panel I bought on Shop Hop too? It came from the Fig Leaf in Ft Collins - and... I just didn't want to put it away.

So - while my Jelly Roll 18 block pile is growing - I put the panel up and started studying....

And then I remembered the Flags for Sue Block, and then I got to looking - I still have a few blocks left - and so.....

I like this!! I have started adding some sashing between the blocks to grow the quilt to be 60 x 80. I did get two sashing's done, but then.. I had to babysit.  the Pound Puppy came home - and oh my gosh -

three dogs - too much fun and too much energy!

this girl is so cute and my kiddo is doing a great job of training her - but three!!! and on a hot day where they really couldn't be outside in the middle of the day...

Plus - look how cute she is!! they are headed back out to the field, so we will see what I can accomplish now haha!

Eagle and Hearts

I just loved the stripey of the hearts and the stripey of the panel and so...

I went for it!!

After taking its photo - I have decided to add a 3 inch white strip to the top and the bottom  - that will round it out to 62 x 80 ! Perfect QOV size!!

if you are looking for the hearts - head over to MMM quilts they are called glowing hearts and she has the pattern there.

We also did day two of our Shop Hop - K and I went east!!! to Julesburg to MDQ Designs. Julesburg is not really a destination town - its a part of the Pony express  - so historical - but I am not sure what else is there. Now I don't need to worry - MDQ Designs was worth the drive!

they had 5 different rooms of Fabric - and they are building on so you can have retreats there... and classes and it just looks so fun.

I found this layer cake and maybe a few more things??????

But who is counting right?

Julesburg was 2 hours from us, and then we headed south ( i think ) for bout 30 minutes to Holyoke!!

We stopped at Creative Traditions - another cute shop - and right on the main roads so easy to find. ( these are smallish towns)

All of their Quilt kits were on sale - so I might have come home with one - as well as this fabric.

K actually picked it out - I think it was his was of saying "stop buying live cows.... make a quilt!!"  that had to be it right/

we stopped there for lunch and let the girls play in the park a bit:

we also found a lemonade and cookie stand!! the little kids were quite cute. We were the only people in the park and one of the girls was hollering like the peanuts and popcorn guys at a ball game - cracked me up!!

I will tell you the rest of the day tomorrow - I don't want to bore you too much!!

Eagle Panel and hearts = and!! NO Co Shop hop

Happy Monday Morning!! I had a little accident over the weekend and broke my pinky nail - not like just a broken nail - like I broke it in the middle of the nail where its still attached ( I hit a saddle horn hard) and its making typing awkward!!!

I had fun tho - so its all good!

I found this Eagle Panel and I want to use it for a QOV - i had these blocks that our sew group made - so I thought about framing it . The more I look at it though - its not making my heart happy.

I had a thought!! I am making the hearts from MMMQuilts glowing Hearts QAL - what if????

and I like it - I think the stripes on the panel and the stripes in the hearts appeal to me - so this is the new direction I am going with the hearts!

NOCOShop hop is happening here: I had to go look at a horse Friday so K an I hit up Sew Downtown!

Got our passports and of course we found dinosaur fabric!! so you know that came home with me.
The quilt they are doing this year is a beauty - so we got our block pattern there too;

Saturday - I had a Quilt of Valor presentation south of us - so decided we would hit the southern stores;
The first was The Quilt Store in Broomfield - LOVE that place - a part vibe was going on....

and of course -some FQ"s a little yard and!!! the block pattern came home!!!

After that we headed to Sew Bo in boulder - that was a pretty drive and its a tiny shop. They also have a lot of garment patterns. ( been there, done that - not going back - owned a maternity clothing co for 15 years)

We decided that we must have been hungry - look what we found!!

and the last stop for the day was On Pins and Needles in Brighton. Another lovely shop , everyone was so friendly and helped my find some cool things - this was my favorite Strip package that followed me home!!

I think there are 9 more stores? so who knows what I will find!!

Starry Log Cabin QOV Finish!! and ... Finished ( or not) Friday

I got a finish!!! whoop Whoop!!! However when I went outside to get the photos - the storms and the wind started up. I have trained my dogs so well - that neither of them would sit on it to hold it down. ( it was WINDEEEEE)

This is the best one of the bunch - and even on concrete - I couldn't keep it from blowing away!

The log cabins were made by all of our Quilters - I put the top together and!! are you sitting down for this?? I quilted it ( well that you probably knew ) BUT!!!! I BOUND IT! oh yes I did!!!! I was so proud!!

And I am sure you are dying for a Baby Colt Update right?

Just look at that sweet baby face!!! We took them to their own corral and he was so cute running behind Mom and cavorting. Then he had to lay down - it was too much energy. We did get a halter on him and pet him all over... he is SOOOOO soft!!!

Alright - not to steal your thunder for much longer!! it is now time for !!!

My Not finishes - and FInished!! ( or not) Friday

This week got away from me, and as I was looking for what I finished? I realized I just started things this week... that was a LOT of fun and I will have future finishes right?

I did get this top done:

It was a little mystery that was ran on a Facebook page - and I thought - I need to get in on that - 2 weeks - start to finish - I'm impressed with my self - haha!!!

I also finished quilting this one for a client - She didn't applique it - just ironed the whole thing - and the quilting is what is going to keep it together.... I hope!!

it was a little hard to quilt - at some of the points there are A LOT of layers, and the needle starts to warp a bit. I had to SLOW way down...

Thursday Morning started like this - all sunny and happy......

I had beef deliveries, and Quilt deliveries - and the temps dropped from 75 to 40 by the time I got home. I will have to check in a bit - but they say SNOW!! is coming today ( Friday!) So since it felt fallish.... Potato Soup and.......

And now!!
Tell me about your week!!
What did you FInish? Or not?

And HAPPY EASTER!!!!
My favorite saying about Easter - its Friday!! But Sunday's coming....

Awarding a few Quilts of Valor

I had the privilege of awarding some Quilts of Valor to Combat Veterans - You all know this is the best part of making Quilts.

Usually, before a presentation I am given a little bio of each Vet - and I was this time as well, but!! I decided I wanted to hear more.

It was a small group of their peers, they were all excited to be here - I thought I had a chance to get a story or two out of them if I tried....

and Man did that pay off!!

Each one of them took the time to share about their service, and then of course , Civilian - ize it for me so I knew exactly what they were talking about. It was awesome.

The best part was hearing what they thought of their quilt. A lot of us say this - but I am always confirming it - there is a divine hand when we choose the Quilts for the Vets - the Vet on the far left, She got her quilt and her eyes welled up. After I wrapped her she told me she was Native American and we couldn't have made a better quilt for her ( Karen K made it!)

Third from the left is a Marine, and He received the Motorcycle Quilt I made - and wow  - did he ohh and ahh. And then I added my Son is a Marine - he told me we were family now. Love this so much!!

Now I want to go award more haha!

Patriotic Churn Dash and !!! Finished ( or not) Friday!!

Happy Friday!!!!

My Finish for this week is this Churn Dash Quilt!!! Laura and I made the Churn Dash blocks - Laura in California and me here in Colorado.... I think we picked colors that went well together!!!

I put the top together and Quilted it up!!! It will go to my sew group for Binding - and on as a Quilt of Valor. I swept the snow off of for this photo, and of course,,,, the snow came back !

I quilted it with Hearts - and got the label ready. it was another pile of blocks that was on my table... This is the second quilt (maybe the third!!) out of there this year - and I think there is probably a few more quilts to be made ( okay maybe 10!!)

Veterans and Fabric

I was invited back to on of my most favorite Veterans Groups - the Vietnam Vets of America. There are lots of those groups - but this particular group has stolen my heart.... they are just the sweetest nicest people!!

We awarded 15 Quilts - bringing us up to 113 Quilts awarded for this group over the past 4 years!

All men and One Woman! The Woman was a Naval Officer / Nurse on the floating Hospital Ship - she told me the name and I can NOT remember it. There were 400 officers and crew and over 1500 patients on the ship. She was so amazing.

There were a few tears and a lot of smiles - it was a great day!!!

There is also a Quilt Shop Hop going on here in Colorado -( maybe just the northern part?) I always want to participate - but for some reason in the summer, there are just not enough hours in the day... but I decided to do the shop hop my way!

I was in the Centennial area - so I stopped at Hollys Quilt Cabin. I made myself take a beat, take a breath and just wander thru  with no goal or time limit. That was really fun!!!

These are my favorite fabrics I found:

Oh yes - those are dinosaur and fossil fabrics!!! If you remember ( which I mean, don't you remember EVERYTHING I say 🤣🤣)   my youngest is an Archeologist - and of course, loves dinosaurs - so they had to come home with me!!!!

While I was browsing the fabrics a little girl came in with her mom and said *Mom - that lady is looking at dinosaurs* and the two of us had such a fun little conversation. She ended up with a fabric to make a pillowcase!! Love it!!!

Happy Wednesday!

The Design Wall.... aka - the new art is up

We always tease that My Design wall is actually a traveling art show - and you never know what will be on display... or if you will even like the artist!!!

But!!

That wall is getting a little use this week!!!

My Quilts of Valor 20 Stars for 20 years ( that is the official name of the quilt pattern I believe) is morphing into something else..... so It will have to get a new name - but at this time...

This is what I am auditioning:

I think those will go all around and then I will measure again - and see what I like next ;-)
The goal is to make it 60 x 80

You may have heard - there is a new mystery out from Quiltville - and since my RWBs were already out - I thought - Why not???  The quilt Is supposed to finished around 87 inches square - and I do need a new quilt for my bigger bed..... Maybe it will all work out?

and look at my puppy - she finally fell asleep next to me!!! This is a new thing for her, usually she bites my feet, and barks at the sewing machine!!

I am so excited!!!!

Saturday we had a Horse Competition - and it was ALL day!! I sort of expected it to end about 2pm - but at 6pm we were still there. Since it was REALLY cold outside, and she can not stay inside that long - she went with us.

She did pretty well for the first time around 80 horses , trailers, lots of people, and gunshots. We alternated between the cab of the pick up, and her travel kennel in the horse trailer. I am pretty sure she did not sleep the whole day.

I got very chilled, so the last 20 minutes she and I were in the cab with the heat blasting and she was watching everything and snuggling me... I think she was a little tired too - but!! maybe I tired her out enough - that she will nap a few times this week?

Back to work you all!!!  ( and that is not a bad thing - I LOVE my job !!)

Patriotic Design wall

I am starting to get into that End of Year Organizing thing...

Well... not really - but it made me sound all organized like - but I really shouldn't tell fibs like that!

In emptying my parents POD there was an antique table that I wanted. Its one of those that fold down to a rectangle and up to a circle. It was my Grandmas and I just liked it - so I added it to the end of my sewing table.  ( again ---- fib - my youngest son did it for me because he rocks!!)

In doing so, I can pile more stuff!! That I will just admit to! But in the *stuff* are a few projects not done... and now...

This one ( above) A whole bunch of us made blocks and we all shared them - and the others are already in quilts, and a few people actually finished theirs. I took some blocks and obviously Mine needed to marinate... but now... its on its way to being done!!  ( and yep!! a QOV)

Next Quilts of Valor hosted a Mystery - maybe it was called "20 stars for 20 years" ?  and I started and then life, and now.... I have ideas of how to finish it up - I am not sure I am going to follow the instructions...I think I see a different way I'd like to finish it and get it up to QOV size....

The little scary part of this is... I might be getting my Sewjo back full time... or I might have just jinxed it.

Oh and on the quilting front - I just started an Antique quilt for a client from 1880!!! Oh My Stars - I love it.. this is my favorite block....
