Starry Log Cabin QOV Finish!! and ... Finished ( or not) Friday

I got a finish!!! whoop Whoop!!! However when I went outside to get the photos - the storms and the wind started up. I have trained my dogs so well - that neither of them would sit on it to hold it down. ( it was WINDEEEEE)

This is the best one of the bunch - and even on concrete - I couldn't keep it from blowing away!

The log cabins were made by all of our Quilters - I put the top together and!! are you sitting down for this?? I quilted it ( well that you probably knew ) BUT!!!! I BOUND IT! oh yes I did!!!! I was so proud!!

And I am sure you are dying for a Baby Colt Update right?

Just look at that sweet baby face!!! We took them to their own corral and he was so cute running behind Mom and cavorting. Then he had to lay down - it was too much energy. We did get a halter on him and pet him all over... he is SOOOOO soft!!!

Alright - not to steal your thunder for much longer!! it is now time for !!!

Starry Log Cabin QOV and !! Finished!! ( or not) Friday!!!!

Happy Happy Friday!!

Hope you had a super Quilty Fun filled Week!!!

We had winter and spring all in the same days - so we made sure to go ride horses and fix fences during the spring part of the day, and try to be inside on the winter part of the day. We messed up Tuesday - and rode in the wind. Wind is not all that bad sometimes, its the sand that blow with it.

On the other hand - my face is very smooth after all that sand hit it haha!

last year at one of our QOV Sew Days and with our online group we made these Little Log Cabins... and this week - I got some of them put into a top!

I tried to use the ones with darker fabric to make the star in the middle, and fill in with the lighter ones. - I think it turned out pretty cool... We also tried to take the photos outside, but remember that wind?

Its not to nice to soft cloth!!!  But we tried haha

I also finished this book - it is on Amazon Kindle *Click here to see it*
I kind of liked it - the lady loses the ability to recognize faces and it changes the way she loves her life - its interesting. I think that would make quilting very interesting....

And I got to quilt some amazingly fun quilts from my clients - this one - Man I just loved the wild color play in it - and the stripes - brought it all together!!!

Alright - it that time in the post for YOU !!! SHOW off - what did you finish? Not Finish?  Show off and let us celebrate what you did!!!

Please remember to link up your direct post

Visit lots of others and leave a comment!!

Starry Log Cabin from the *Pile*

My Quilt of Valor Group did a Log Cabin Block drive this last year . This year the National QOV block is a log cabin.... I keep telling myself - I am psychic  or maybe I am just a trend setter and I don't know it??

Next trend - Flannel Jammies under the chore pants - its a REAL thing people!!

This is the one I am currently working on . and Yes, these blocks were in my Piles!!!

I have it all Stacked to start rowing it now... Below - that was me trying to figure out how I wanted the star to go, and then looking at it, and then looking again, and then wondering if I was close to right!

This last weekend we had a Polar Vortex come visit ( much like the rest of the country). We have horses, and mostly they stay outside - but when the winds blow so hard we put them in the barn. The barn is mostly a riding arena, so we have to put temporary corrals up . Which we did - 6 of them...

I rarely -and I do mean rarely - wear my glasses outside, but for some reason I did while moving horses in the barn. The weather was so cold, everything was frosting almost immediately. even my hair!!

My horse took a big breath and blew it out, right into my face - and Literally Blinded me!!!

It was frustrating and funny at the same time. She didn't know what she did, and why we stopped so abruptly.

Oh!!! and there is always some calamity when its miserable cold - We got a call from a neighbor - look west!   We looked out our window and saw this:

That is smoke from a fire, and the fire truck lights looking our way - it was still a mile away, and the wind was blowing from south to north ( see the Vortex caused that!)   But still not something you want to see when its dark. The guys all headed over to see if they could help - seems they had a fire in the cornfield....

no real details as to why?? but! It got put out and all was good.

Scrappy Log Cabin QOV top

My QOV group has ben doing a little block drive with these scrappy 8 1/2 inch Log Cabin blocks. I figured it might be fun to put tops together before the drive was over.

Ta da!!! The First Top!!!! So far I think we have enough blocks for 2 tops. I sorta forgot that they take 80 blocks to make a 64 x 80 quilt top.... sometimes Math eludes me.

But I really like how this one turned out. I will get the backing ready and get it quilted soon.

In the meantime, Thursday I sprained my ankle. I did it good.. because - if you are going to sprain something you might as well get some sympathy out of it right? I am supposed to be in a boot - but man those things could kill you. and they make your hips hurt....

I made my husband Vet Wrap it instead. I am so NOT good at sitting still!

Also - I can now use my sewing machine with my left foot haha

My Baby has sympathy ... but she REALLY wants to play and run and jump and attack me haha!!

We are working really hard on all our behaviors and being good, so we thought it was time to start training on some fun tricks to intersperse with the behavior.... she is learning to sit pretty ;-)

Its so cute!!

Right On Target

A while ago.... How long ago- one can never really tell....

I might have dragged myself to a Quilt show, the kind with all the booths selling fabric, and I might have really felt the need to buy fabric...

Now I might be having some fun with it!!

This quilt is called Right On Target - and It is all Kaffe Fasset prints.

( I KNOW!! TWO kaffe quilts in the same decade.... and nope - no plaid in them!!!)

I think... It will be bright and bold,

This is where I am this morning.
And more blocks are about done

This is a close up of the fabrics
it is much brighter than my normal

but it is good to step outside of the box right?

Enjoy Your Presidents Day ( to those who have it off)

Flannel Pastels

On that fateful day..... when I was organizing..... I found a bundle of Pastel Plaid Flannel - Given to me by my friend Lois and her quilters.... and I decided that that day was the day to try something with them....

a little bit ago I had received Dianne Knotts Book - Strip Quilt Secrets - and being one to love looking at pictures - I saw a ..... can you guess it..... a.....

Log Cabin Quilt in her book - and I thought - wow these would look great in a Log Cabin

So I proceeded to cut them all up!

and this is what is where I am as of last night

The Pastels actually turned out darker than I thought they would - thank goodness !!

and because I am sure you want to see the babies....

Momma Mares

And their mini Me's

So... I decided to organize......

Which is something I really shouldn't do!! We will call it inspiration and distraction and lets start a new project, and oh wait - should I work on that one too???

And ! Wow! I have a few piles and a lot of ideas, and I may have started some new things, and decided to finish some others - and its the BEST!!!

So let me walk you through the *projects* as they are......

This was  a HUGE box of strings strips and other pieces - I dumped it out

and now... It is this!!

Which Inspired me to have our QOV Sew group make some of....

These!!

and then!! Because we got a lot started
and a lot finished
I kept working on them -
and now
I have about 45 more in process
( you need 48 for a whole quilt)

( and don't look at that pile of log cabins behind the scrappy ones!! That's even another project!)

but!!
Before I can put them on my design wall
I need to finish this one!!
So they are all rowed now -
Just need to iron and sew the rows together

But then!!
In my stashbuster group - Liz is hosting a sew a long called Steppers
and you needed 3 1/2 x 6 1/2 inch bricks

and I had some plaid sitting in a bucket

and now I have a lot of bricks
ready for step 3

( I actually got step 2 - the bricks stitched - done!)

and then !
In my Quilt of Valor group
We are doing a  block for May-July
so I had to re draw the directions
( my other ones looked yuckky)
and of course!

I had to start sewing them too!

I don't even want to show you the projects I have planned under my sewing table,
cuz you will laugh and tease me
and then I just might have to start a nother project!!

Ha!!

I had better get to working on these so that they all don't have to be quilted at the same time!
