Aqua Spinning Goose for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge

Did you know that Aqua is not really a color I have much of in my stash?   I think because I buy it and use it right away - its one of my favorite colors....

But I had fun looking thru some fabrics that I thought could work!!

Here is what I came up with

(and  YES!! I did get Septembers done before the end of the month - go me!!)

Ta da!!!

Look Close - there are Parrots on that big star... Parrots!! I LOVE it!!!! okay - it really made me laugh - I was in a margarita mood.....

And now here are all of them on the wall so far!!! I have been playing around with ideas as to how to set them, we will have to see what colors come next - and If I want more blocks...

Life is getting back to normal-ish now!! I have still been quilting for Clients 🤠!!!!!, other things have slowed down ( no more house cleaning haha)... but now that my parents house is on the market and the BIG part of sorting is done ( oh yes!! I still have more but its in the barn!!) I feel like my routines are taking shape again.

For those of you who have still be allowing me to quilt for you - Thank you for continuing to do so - it has helped me keep my sanity... and now that I am getting back to normal - I feel like I can take on my normal load of Quilts!! so!! I am ready if you have quilts that need All Over Designs - Hit me Up!!

Yellow Spinning Goose RSC block plus Gingham

Whoosh - Yellow is ( was) the color of the month for our Rainbow Scrap Challenge ... and it almost got the best of me - but I won!!!!

I got my Yellow Spinning Goose block finished - right under the wire!!!

I had a hard time finding fabrics, as my sewing room has sort of been taken over with things I have moved out of my parents house.  We actually are listing the house for sale on Friday and I just piled things... so this was the Yellow I could get to - and!! I really like it!! - A little different vibe than some of my other plaids..

Now I need to get my sort/organize/ and donate mojo back!!!

Oh!! Also - I might have had a *squirrel*

Remember those Gingham/Buffalo plaid quilts that you can make real quick? I used the Pattern from Quilters Candy - it makes a 55 x 65 inch quilt.

I had this brilliant idea of using a Blue, a Yellow and A stripe. When they lay next to each other - I thought - oh those will be cool.... but when I put them together - I am not 100% sure that they worked the way I had planned it - but I like the way they came together haha!

Anyways - It made me happy because it is ONE thing that I could completely finish 😂🤣😂

This Yellow works for August RSC too - in my mind!  ( which proves I haven't lost my mind yet, but I might be close !)

I will be linking up with

Pink Lemonade, June Spinning Goose and!! Finished!! or not Friday!!!!

Happy Friday!!!!

Back in January - I dug into some happy bright prints and made Quilt tops and this week!! I got to quilt one of them - and you know what?? They are still bright and Happy!!! The colors just made my day and made me smile all day!!!

Remember Monday - when I told you we had picked up the hay ( well we got the last load Tuesday) and now it could rain again?  The weather took me literally - and so!!

We have indoor photos!!!

In my stash I have a bolt of this rosebud Flannel - I think... I bought it to make PJ's a while ago, and then I never made pjs... but!! I think it makes a great backing!!

The quilting is Feathers, butterflies and spinnies... I thought it was cute!

also - sliding in at the VERY LAST MINUTE.... My June RSC Spinning Goose block!!

Now... I read, and I write things down, but sometimes I Do Not comprehend my notes.... And I wrote down Bright blues /Bright Greens... I think when I wrote it down I knew I should so one color - but!

When I selected my fabrics - apparently I didn't remember my original thought - so I made a 2 colored block - and I LOVE IT!!

I even pulled fabrics for the July Block ( REDS) ! Maybe I will get it done before the last day of July???

Alright!!! it is your turn!!!

The Orange Spinning Goose

Well - I surprised even myself and found something close to it!!

Ta da!!!! My Orange RSC Spinning Goose!!!
This is a pattern I designed and you can find the block pattern here:

And look at that - I ( me!!) am Keeping up!!!

One of you asked how I get so much done in a day... and truthfully I do not think I do - but!
I do sleep well at night.... I started taking this:

Melatonin - Have you ever tried it?  I do one gummy... usually go lock the doors, brush my teeth... and in about 20 minutes I am dozing off.

Have you ever tired it?

Purple Rainbow Scrap Challenge progress - My Spinning Goose!!

I am so proud.... I am getting my Purple Spinning goose done BEFORE the end of the month!! Go me!! I'll take the win!!! Are you ready???

Ta da!!! I love the purple plaids in this one... I didn't know - but I think Purple might be one of my favorite colors... well, at least for today haha!

and now all of them so far!!

Knitting... I didn't report for March.. the color was Green - I had teal... so I made Teal hats...

But then - I had scraps... okay!! WHO KNEW that you could accumulate Knitting Scraps!!!
My Scrappy hat....

Of course, I ran out of scraps ( you can see where) so I grabbed a Teal Purple variegated yarn to finish it.
the jury is still out on if I like this hat or not...

NOW it is time to move to Purple - so I have this muted purple in my bags - I pulled it and and combining it with the rest of the Teal variegated which means... this hat MAY be finished by MAY!!!

Every time I post photos of the hats.. I get asked what pattern I use... and you all know I am a quilter ...not a knitter, so I never know how exactly to answer - but here is the what I do ;-)

We use these LOOMS:

and I followed this tutorial: Knit hat   and I made mine like this:

To make the ones with a brim - you stitch 20 rows and fold in half ( back up on the loom) them make 30 more rows

I use the pink one for the kids hats, and the purple one for my husbands hats.

Pink RSC Blocks - the Spinning Goose

 And a little tutorial!!!

I am still not quite organized - but you know - sometimes you just need to bite the bullet and get back to things. So - while I am not 100% happy with my fabric choices for this month - I am happy I got my block done, and probably - with all of them together - I won't remember this isn't my favorite....

Here is January and February Together....

Now - Quite a few of you asked about my block - about the sizes and how I made it. I love that - but it also panicked me, I didn't know - I just put it together.... so now!! I know!!

Here is what I Pulled - I needed
4 Colored 5 inch squares
4 Background 5 inch squares

2 1/2 inch strips of Background and
2 1/2 inch strips of the color

On the Background - I used my EZ Angle to cut the wings
( You need 16 pairs)

and on the Colors - I used the Companion Angle to cut the geese
(You Need 16 Geese)

Colors:  16 Geese
4   5 inch squares

Bacgkround 16 pairs of Wings
4   - 5 inch squares

Construct your 16 Flying Geese - and then sew then into pairs - Each goose should be 2 1/2 x 4 1/2 inches - each pair of geese should be 4 1/2 inches square

Use your 5 inch squares to make 8 half squares - trim them to 4 1/2 inches

Lay them out like sew - and start stitching the rows together

And Ta da!!! You have a spinning Goose Block!!!

The end ;-)

Blue RSC Blocks

I did it!! I finally made a choice for my Rainbow Scrap Challenge for 2023!!

Last year I had decided to make as many quilts as possible out of a color.... and that was fun! But!!

This year I already have 5 commissioned quilts to finish by the end of February ( you know... start to finish!!) and I just don't see whole RSC quilts happening for these two months...

So!! I designed a Block!!!

Churn Dashes are my absolute all time favorite block - but!!! I find myself drawn to flying geese.... and spinning stars and so!!!

That's where I went.... and Ta da!!

it does not go together as fast as my stepper and quick quilts of 2022.... and..

I had to think of which way to keep the geese to make sure they flew around the star.

Can't have one goose flying the wrong way you know... they have to stay in formation!!!

But with 12 of these - I may have a nice sized quilt... right?

Block size:  17 x 17 inches
