The 4th Hawaiian... and !! Finished ( or not!) Friday

Happy Friday!!

Todays quilt has a little Tropical vibe going on!!!  Maybe its because I like the idea of the sun, the beach, and the water???

I started this one in May of 2023 - back when I had decided it was time to clear out the Hawaiian prints in the bucket - and this is the 4th of the quilts I made from said fabrics!!

The pattern is called Wiggle Time - from Quilting is more fun that Housework - and it was fun!

I added a little Rip Curl Quilting to it - and BAM!!!

 It is a super fun pattern, and goes together rather quickly. I enjoyed making it. And then photographing it on a dreary day.

I added my Margarita Beach chair clips. I also tried to convince K that Margaritas at 10 am were acceptable....

He did not agree 😕

and for the other side I used my Flamingos - I mean - everyone needs a flamingo right? They are just the funniest birds...

Again - K declined to let me buy a bird!! I think Pink birds would be just fine with my horses???

And a close up of the Rip Curl quilting - I envisioned the waves hitting the shore line... Beachy dreaming right???

Enough about me and my Beach Dreaming!!! What have you all been up to???

The Purple Hawaiian and!! Finished ( or not) Friday

This is the quilt that made me think I had used up all of my 5 inch Hawaiian squares... I'll have you know.... it was ... until!   I made more!! Whaaatttt???

Anyways I made this one with the leftovers of my 5 Hawaiian themed Quilts back in June 0f 2023. ( thank goodness for blogs) and this week!!! I got it Quilted and bound!!

Its small - it was fast.

Isn't that back great? So Colorful!!!! ( I always get asked about my Quilt clips - they can be found here... and yep - I make a little commission that goes right to QOV purchases for my group_)

It was great to have a small quick finish!! Made me feel productive!

hawaiii.... iii...eeee and Finished (Or not ) Friday

Once upon a time I had so much fun playing with my Hawaiian themed fabrics that I made a lot of Quilt tops.... And they were so much fun!!

Fast forward to a little bit ago and my dear buddy said... My Wife is Pregnant.... and they were the people we stayed with when we went to Hawaii...

It seemed like fate...  I had finished a top, they are having a baby ! Kizmet right?

I don't think I have ever had a baby quilt finished before the baby came. Is this a turning point in my Quilting career?

Tada!!! here it is next to my Barn Block - because everyone needs a barn block!!

I had so much fun quilting it - lots of seashells and beachy things....

The Parents of the baby this is going to were stationed in Hawaii and now are stationed in California (Dad is a Marine... I love my Marine Family!!) - I sure hope they get a kick out of it!!  And Yay for another finish!!

Someone said a few weeks ago that I have a lot of finishes to show. That is true - but I also have a lot of starts - so that I can have a lot of finishes.  And I have a lot of fabric - so I have a lot of starts, so that I can have a lot of finishes.   You followed that right? 😂🤣😎😍

I have been blessed with a LOT of fabric. so I like to get a LOT of quilts out into the world. I have been involved with Quilts of Valor for 20 years!! And I donate a lot of quilts to Hospice, and to my church, and to anyone I feel needs an extra hug - its what I do ❣❤

Hawaiian Churn Dash Finish! and!!! Finished ( or not) Friday!!!

Happy Friday!!!

The Week of Me is over... my husband is back home, my archeologist is here for a few days... its back to noisy... just the way I love it!!!

But!! I got a finish in this week!!! so maybe it was worth it ( I also DID NOT COOK one meal!!!)

I quilted my Hawaiian Churn Dash!!!! and check it out - sea shells and starfish!!!

And other shells (I don't know their names!!)

Because I was pretty sure one of my sons would claim this one... I made sure the back matched the front. I used the same fabric as the borders.

And now!!! it is FINISHED!!!

The Purple Hawaiian aka Number 5

 I think this quilt has finally made me run out of my Hawaiian 5 inch squares....

I still have some yardage - but I was saving that for the backs.

Ta da!!! Kinda wish I had enough to make circles all the way down - but! I think it looks pretty good with the leftovers!!

We might have made a quick trip to Hawaii in all of this craziness. We have a Marine friend who was stationed on Oahu, and we got to stay with him and explore the island a bit before he got re-stationed.

I had already made Dash To Hawaii ( the quilt) but when we got to Oahu... we saw Shirts!!!! And I just knew that I would be making more things with my Hawaii Squares... I would NOT put them away!

On one of our hikes.... I do have to tell you... Humidity is not a friend of someone with really ( really) Curly hair.... I would straighten it in the morning ( easier to put it in a ponytail) and by the time I got to the car.... oh boy!!

The 4th Hawaiian....

 Progress on the Hawaiian front!!

Quilt top NUMBER FOUR is now together!!!     and up on the design wall - it is being my spring decorations right now!

The pattern is called Wiggle Time   and its a great and easy pattern!

I worked with the scraps I had threes of - and got it to this size... which is big enough. ( don't make me measure it - too many details haha!!)

I really liked the teal.. reminds me of waves on the water... and maybe there is a dolphin or a whale in there! Ohh... maybe that is what I should quilt on it when I get to this one... hmmmm

Number 5 has been started!! But! My husband took Friday off - and he has been making us work VERYVERY hard... I didn't make enough progress to show you what I have started on.

Also!! ELEVEN Quilts went to my Pathways Hospice.... its kind of nice that my hair cut place is not to far from there, so my goal has been to deliver quilts when I get my hair cut....Two birds and all that.  They loved this last batch ;-)  its fun to see them look at them all.

More Hawaiian Stuff ( okay the 9 patches!!)

 I started playing around with the Nine patches I had left over from my design attempts.... I also had

 one lone Churn dash left.... 

just one....

and inspiration hit!

I would surround my churn with the nines and frame it and it would be beautiful!!!

The churn was just a tad bit smaller than the nines... I could trim the nines ... but!!! I could also frame the churn!!

Trim 8???? or Frame 1.... you saw where I was going with that right??

and so!!! Ta!Da!!!  One more Hawaiian Top done... except... I still have more 5 inch squares in the Hawaiian bucket!! when I started cutting them up - I must have had a lot of time on my hands... and cut WAYYYYY to many... but I love them!!

Hawaiian Churn Dash and ... Finished!!! ( or not) Friday!!!

 I came to a decision... and I followed it, and now I have a Finished top.. and many others on the way!!!

I will start with the finish.. I always like that part better anyways!!

You may remember this photo ( below) ? From one of my Design wall posts?

I had already made a Quilt with all my Hawaiian 5 inch squares.... Dash to Hawaii

But I still had 5 inch squares left over - so I started making churns as leaders and enders until I got tired, and then I made 9 patches , until I got tired... then I tried to see what I had... and I got dizzy....

I stepped back for a minute and started playing with teal sashing... and now!!

I have a finished top!!! Whoop Whoop.... Oh! I will tell you.... I wasn't sure about the border since it was a different shade of teal that the sashing... but! 

It WORKS!!!  I tell you -- It does ;-)

now on to see what I can do with all of those Hawaiian Nine patches!! Well, don't laugh - I already know - I have a plan.... so stay tuned....

The making of a Churn Dash scrappy jumble of a mess..... and more!

 Aka - How a Quilt idea goes bad,.... and then maybe redeems itself!!

Maybe.

Remember Dash To Hawaii?  I had a bunch of 5 inch squares left over, so I thought... lets make Scrappy Churndashes.

And then I had to make some memory quilts and I thought - lets make some Hawaiian 9 patches as leader ender blocks...

and then.... I thought - lets make them into a quilt...

I put them up on the design wall , walked a little bit away - and wondered what I had been drinking at the time.. cuz man!! I sure felt dizzy now!!!!

Of course, I had to leave that up for an hour or two... wanted to see what the dog did, and what the husband did... they fell down too!!! 

Back to the Design wall... I decided to separate them out to see what I thought....

Nope still not working for me on the 9 patches.....

But hey!! Those churns are starting to look better.....

what if.. I used a solid to break them up????  *Breaking up is hard to dooooo*

I think I am on to something.... say tuned.... my goal is to make something of these before they make me fall down again!!!

Oh Scrap at Quilting is More Fun than Housework

The Dash to Hawaii .... and Finished ( or not) Friday!!!

Just in case you want to know.. there is snow... there is snow on top of snow. While it might not be  the dire straights that other parts of the country are in.... I might be dreaming of oceans... and sun, and ....

Those dreams inspired me to finish:

The Dash To Hawaii... for while I am stitching it - I can dream of water, waves, and sun....

And then Back to reality - haha!!!

These Blue skies have not been seen regularly - we got about a 20 minute break then back to fog and drizzle.  But don't the happy prints make you think sun.... 

Looks like I forgot an up close of the quilting - but I quilted Hibiscus Flowers all over it - and I even used a Hawaiian theme backing... its just florally all over!!

We had snow again yesterday - and I got lazy and didn't want to dig my 4 wheeler out to go feed, so I used the kids sled.... They are too small for my kids now - but it was perfect for my grain buckets. My calves were staring at that sled like it would come to life and attack them!!!

That is my finish this week, and now -I had better get working on something for next week!!!!
