QOV All around is DONE!!! and! Finished ( or not) Friday

I do NOT know what to name this quilt ! Or what I have called it - but today!!

I am calling it DONE!!!

It started as the 20 stars for 20 years quilt from QOV - and then it morphed into this...

and now!!! it is Quilted, ready to be bound by some other wonderful person - and I am calling it DONE!!!

I did come to remember that adding little small borders give you a lot of room for error -and one of them might have had to come off and get reattached so it didn't wave at everyone driving by.... oops

And I quilted it pretty densely - so it there were any waves.... they have been stilled haha!!

QuiltyDog - She was trying to help me cut binding and I told her to stop touching my fabric... this is her look... as in "Who me?" wasn't me!!!!

It is now your turn to show off!! What have you been up to? Did you get anything farther ahead in its quilting life?

Goal # 3 Friday Finish

So!!!! I did it.... just under the wire for today....

This is Goal #3 on my "A Lovely Year of Finishes"   AND Goal #3 on my Finish Along Quarter 4 Goals!!!!    This means I get...... to start a new list..... Bwahh haa haa

My Pineapple Plaid....aka Plaid #5 is now done.... the binding was finished.... oh about 10 minutes ago!! Yay mE!!

A close up on the quilting.... lots of fun..... that got lost in the busyness of the plaid - but I  like it anyways!

See.... proof!!! The binding is finished!  Now I am deciding if I will list it on Etsy or not. I always wonder if that's the best place to try and sell quilts.?  But - The second semester starts for my college kiddo, and the middle one just got his license.... so there are always bills to pay ;-)

And this is the Christmas Eagle. He came to visit before the snow storm came... He was quite direct and staring at me, sort of gave me a complex!

I am linking up to a million things - so if you get tired of seeing this quilt.
I apologize!!

Also - to TGIFriday at http://sewfreshquilts.blogspot.com.au/2014/12/wow-e-welcome-to-tgiff.html

Plaid #4 - Finished!!

Whoot Whoot - Doing a little happy dance around here!!

I joined in with the Finish A long over at the Littlest Thistle - and I tell you what - it has helped me stay focused this time!!  This quilt was one of them I wanted finished this month for the QAL4FAL and for A Lovely Year of Finishes at SewBitterSweet designs.

Ready....

This one will be going as a Quilt of Valor. It was designed by Judy at patchworktimes.com called Sunny Side up ( I think) it is under her free patterns.  I , of course, just had to try plaids ;-)

Because it is almost Christmas - you wanted a snowy bird right?  They land outside my sewing room window - constantly distracting me .... it's a rough life I tell ya!!

Log Cabin Challenges

Last week I told you about our Log Cabin Challenge at our guild. The cool part was I got to quilt a few of the quilts in the challenge.

So I thought I would Show you a few of them.  Now mind you - in all of my thinking and postulating about why I didn't care for mine so much, comes this theory.  I loved everyone else's and wish I had made that!!!  Too funny!

Isn't this one cool? With all the batiks and them running up and down?  I quilted feathers all over it in lines. It turned out pretty neat! And it softened the effect of the zig zag. Perfect for one of her Granddaughters!

Then there was this Wonky Log Cabin. This client pieced it SO beautifully!! She said it was out of her color and style range, but wanted to challenge herself - and I believe she rose to the challenge!
 Oh yes - the back....

This client did another amazing job!  She wanted a 3d Circly effect.  I had fun drawing up images to see what would look the best.

And of course - the back.
Those are my three finishes to show off this week. I didn't piece a one of them - but I sure enjoyed quilting them! And I was glad they liked them too!

A Log Cabin Challenge

At the beginning of this year I started in the RSC challenge, and as I was figuring out my block that I would make I started making lots of Log Cabin'ish blocks.   At the end of January - I went to my guild meeting and out president issued a Log Cabin Quilt Challenge for 2014.

The Catch - the Quilt had to be completed by December 2nd!  ( and completed meant bound too! ugh)

I was in Limbo - Do I do my Color challenges as a log cabin? Do I start something else?  What to do...... well..... I was indecisive for a while!

I remembered seeing a Log Cabin quilt in 30's Prints on Quilting is More Fun Than Housework - and I thought - I could do that, bust my stash of 30's, enter the challenge, and have a finished quilt at the end of the year....

So I grabbed my stash, and I started cutting 2 inch strips.... and I started sewing, and I realized that there was a LOT of stash in that bucket....  I persevered and On December 2nd I had a finished quilt , bound and all ready to hang at our Guild's show.....

Only one problem... I am not in love with it..... I am in like with it.... and it will probably grow on me, but I wonder.... usually my projects take a stall out phase.... this one couldn't.... so is that why I am kind of mad at it?

I couldn't get a great hanging photo, I had the longer lens on since I had just been at a basketball game.. So I came home and laid it on the floor.  All that stuff you read about how hard it is to take quilt photos at night?  Yep! They are right.... lighting is just rough.

I changed the design up a bit from the photos I saw.. I didn't want to copy exact - and I wanted it to be 72 x 90 at least.  I did a LOT of feather quilting, and I practiced scale of feathers on it.

I am truly thinking that I am going to put it back on the machine. I ran out of quilting time, knowing that it had to be bound. But I think I would like to go fill the unquilted border spots with lines - lots of echoing lines....

And that.... is the Finish that was my Anonymous Finish for November. But it was actually finished on December 2nd at 3pm....  because I had to leave for a basketball game at 3:15, and get this to the guild meeting that night at 6:30 ....

Oh.... and look at this:

I still have scraps!!!!  UGh!!!  I forgot about the amount of scraps I was going to generate!!

And This is what is left of my 30's Stash.... I see at least 3 more quilts in there???? Do you????

Plaid String Quilt - with a Twist!

I finished!! Finished!! Whoot Whoot - as in it is Quilted, Bound and ALL DONE!!

While I was waiting for kids somewhere I made a list - this is the 3rd of 6 plaid quilt projects I have started this year.  The very first one was a Quilt of Valor ....  And I actually know where each of the others are in their progress!!

I quilted it with spiral Squares -  I thought that would be fun do due it's geometry ish ness ( new word! I just invented it!)

And the back - it is a lot of plaid with little Looney Tune Characters dancing across the top!!

Here is a close up - they make me laugh!!
This quilt is for sale:

This is one of my alyof goals for November - so yay!

Starting to Finish Friday

I can't say Finished Friday.... because nothing is 100% finished.... but I am sure getting there!

I have the binding made for my string quilt!  For those of you who don't know me - this is huge!! The binding process is where I always stall out!!

I finished pieced EVERY! LAST! BLOCK! on my pineapple quilt!  I would be ironing them right smack now....except - wrangler man is ironing clothes... and I will NEVER stop him from ironing... nope - I am totally smart!

(there are 40 more finished - I promise.... )

But I may have started another something in the process....

I am so QDD!   I was ironing, and then I looked at a bin and I thought - oh - I should probably sew that down a bit... and now 12 ( yep really 12)  12 1/2 inch blocks later, The bin is still not empty!!

And the last thing that really is finished is this Quilt of Valor:

Brown Scrappy

I am getting this block done just under the wire!!!  Brown is the October Color for RSC Scrappy Challenge... yay me....

Here is my tutorial:

Brown was a little tougher - I didn't have many brown scraps - this is one of the only quilts I have made that had a lot of brown in it.... or at least that I can remember.

Since I had the Purple thread on my machine to bind Wrangler Mans quilt... I thought - Oh I could bind another purple quilt.... so I got to it!

This Purple and Lime Quilt is now ...... FINISHED!!

it measures 65 x 74 inches

I used Quilters Dream - Dream Puff for the batting.
I love the loft that it gave this quilt
Plus it is a real Light Weight warmth!

It is bound in light purple.

And!! The back.
I love this little purple print!

I have it listed in my Etsy Shop

I have entered it in the LargeQuilt Category at
Amy's Blog Festival

Cheering in the middle of the night

This has been such a great week - I have been making lists and checking them off..... and then I realized today is Finish Friday with COnfessions  and Crazy Mom and TGIFriday   and I wanted to be a part of it.

Oh! And Wrangler Man has been begging me to finish his quilt. You think that would be inspirations enough... but nope - I needed more!!

Last night after our Cross Country meet ( our team made State!! yay!!)  I pulled it out and got to it!

This is what it looks like when you finish and you throw it over your loved one, and hope your cell phone will make a flash...

Boy was my hubby surprised.  He is used to me stitching late in to the night.... but he is also used to it not being for him ;-)

I think it looks much better this morning!  And the best thing - it is finished ! Before Football season has gotten cold!

And yes  - that green thing is a rope. A real cowboy rope. Except that is it clean.
Sometimes a cowboy needs to practice inside.

When I started making this quilt it was just some purple and yellow scraps.

And I just wanted to see if I could make that Churn Dash block demo'd by the Missouri Star Quilt Company.  I had 4 blocks up on the wall - and Wrangler Man said - I want that!  *Surprise*

It was awfully flowery at the time. So I went to my scraps and pulled out some less flowery ones.

I added them in and it  sort of muted the floral tones.

Then when it came to quilting - I had a brilliant idea. What if I quilted his favorite team into it!
And Voila -  The Wyoming Cowboys came to be on a purple and yellow quilt.

I think that earned me at least a bag of Dove Dark Chocolates.... right?
Enjoy Checking out all the other finished this week. I like to look at them - its a virtual quilt show!
