Mystery A6 Fabric Choices and Kevin the Quilter Mystery Progress

That!! Is a long title.... but it makes me feel important!

If you read my blog ( or have read it in the past few days) you know.... there is a Mystery A Foot!!!

It is called A6 as it is the 6th mystery I have written for the MysteryQuilts4Military group - however - I have written MANY more ....

For the Fabric Requirements - I posted them Wednesday  - My Fabric choices were shown, but I have decided to make another one!!  ( cuz it is just that fun) and here are my Fabric Choices for this one:

The Creamy White is my Background, and the Navy is Dark #1, Lt Blue is Dark #2, and the Red is my Light #1 .

I show you this so that you know the values will work well together, and although my light is a dark - it will really refer to the placement in this quilt.

and!!

My Kevin the Quilter Mystery
Sapphire Stars

I have most of the first step done - just need a little more Iron time

I try to iron early in the morning,
When I think there is still a possibility it won't be hot

I am not a fan of Hot!

PS - A6 Step 2 ( Clue 2) Comes out Wednesday .... be prepared

Banana Pudding Parfait

The next mystery Clue will be posted Wednesday - it will take you right at one hour - so! You can make this, sew a little bit, and then when your clue is over - you can reward yourself with dessert!!

OR

Better yet - have your Spouse/Partner bring you dinner so that you can sew the day away - and reward them with dessert!!

Dessert always wins me more stitching time around here

Banana Pudding Parfait

Ingredients:

1 Vanilla Cook and Serve Pudding
( you can use instant but I prefer to make it look hard, and that I am REALLY REALLY working for my family)
1 tub of cool whip
2 bananas

This makes 4 pudding parfaits - I have boys that will eat 37 if I allow them to - so I double it!

I made the Cook and Serve pudding and let it cool for about an hour
(PS - that is enough time to actually do your clue!)

Then I set the cups up and start layering

I layer in this order:

Pudding
Banana Slices - about 4-5
Whip Cream
Pudding
Banana slices
and Whip Cream

Aren't they pretty?

I put them in the fridge and then when dinner is not quite ready
cuz I have been quilting
I pull them out and say

"Would you like to start with Dessert first"

and they quit whining,.... just like that!

and they are happy

Independence Day Parade

I think I told you about us learning to Decorate a float?

Our 4-H club teamed up with Erickson Floral in Greeley CO and designed a float for the Independence Day Parade in Greeley.

It was a lot of work - and I didn't do most of it !!  The kids had a great time, and our 4-H leader has these awesome ideas. So even though it is not the 4th of July - I am going to share our photos!!!

(ps - the hay is mine tho - ha ha)

This is our float in the planning progress -
see the cow at the front
That is mine
( The best kind to have, he is clean)

Adding more things
We tried to have a representation of all the projects that our 4-H kids do
And we even hung quilts!!

A casualty!!!

It took us a while to get moving
the parade started at 9am with flyovers - this is what went over me
as I was sitting on the float
There is us - in all of our glory
Little bit is facing the other way - so you can see his back if you search

We think we did good
All the kids had a great time and worked together so well
I think our leader may need a nap - but she was awesome too!

I tried to upload a video for you of the flyover -
I hope it works

Fabric Hints
·         This will be SO awesome in Patriotic Fabrics –
·         You want your two Dark Fabrics to contrast with each other, and be able to stand out on their own.

Other Fabric Combos:
For a Monochromatic sort of look:
Dark 1:  Cream
Dark 2: Medium Gray
Light #1 : Light Gray
Medium – Dark Gray
Make sure all the grays do have a contrast

EnProvence Progress and Kevin the Quilter Mystery

In case you didn't know.... Kevin the Quilter is hosting his very First Mystery Quilt!!! Yay!!!

And you all know  I love mysteries.... And I know! The timing is at the same time as mine... ( sort of) but what the heck!! What is just One! More! Project!   ??

Hubby says it's one more thing to keep me out of trouble... so get to stitchin'!!

This is my start of Clue #1!!
I still have the stitching to do - but the cutting was fun!
However!!
Kevin promised it would help me whittle down my scraps... I'm thinking he doesn't know the extent of my scraps!!

And My EnProvence!!
I have the insides all stitched together.
I wasn't sure I was going to add the outer border.... But After looking at it for a few minutes
I'll get to stitchin and put it on!

Check this out!
Our 4H Group is going to be in a parade!
So the Lovely people at Ericksons Floral in Greeley are sponsoring our float
and!! They taught us all about decorating it!!!

We do have some more to do - but we had so much fun so far
( the boy in the turquoise - he is mine)

Just so you know
I don't like HOT so much
So on days like this weekend where we hit 100
I dream of this!!

Alright
Back to work!!
Hope you have a Happy 4th of July
and I will see you Wednesday for the start of:

Chicken Cornbread Enchiladas

Quilters - I am first here to tell you that I am NOT a Commercial Cook, or a Professional Recipe Writer.... However..... I have 4 men who LOOOOVE to eat - and so.... I cook....

Today I am sharing with you an easy recipe, that takes all of 5 minutes to put together, and takes about 25 minutes to cook....

Which means... that while you are taking care of your family.... you can finish HALF of the First Mystery clue ... IF NOT MORE!!

So... the Fabric Requirements come out Wednesday - Part of the Fabric Requirements is
**Finding your fabrics ( duh)
***** And Ironing your Fabrics ..... cuz all responsible quilters LOVE to iron right?   Ha ha... Don't leave me now!!

Here is what you need:
3 Cups of Shredded Chicken  ( I used a Rotisserie Chicken)
1 Can of Pinto Beans : Drained
1 Can of Black Beans:  Drained
1 Can of Rotel
1 Can Of Olives : Drained  .... Unless you don't like olives like Little Bit, then you can use a can of corn : Drained
1 Cup of Sour Cream
2 Cups off Shredded cheese

and your favorite Corn Bread Mix  ( we use Pamelas Gluten Free - since one of us has celiacs)

Mix all of your ingredients (Except the Corn bread mix)
in a bowl   .... this was my attempt to make a pretty photo of the ingredients.....

Mix them all up

Pour them all in an 9 x 13 pan , I sort of smooshed them down so it filled every corner

Make your cornbread according to those direction
and pour it over the top

Cook on 375 for about 30-35 minutes

and Voila!!! Chicken Cornbread Enchiladas -
Oh ya - I topped them with Guacamole, and Sour Cream
Middle bit added more cheese
Husband added hot Sauce

we all think he is wierd

So there you go - One nights dinner that is easy, and has leftovers, and you can get some of the first step of the Mystery done!!

See you Wednesday for the Start!!!

EnProvence - its back on the design wall...

I'm not sure I should really post this - because my Follow Thru on this quilt has been so..... lazy!!!

Can you Imagine? Me!!! Lazy......  Alright... pick yourself up - get to reading!!

And the funny thing?? I LOOOOVE this quilt - this design of Bonnie Hunters is just amazing
( well, don't tell her, I like them all - but this current mystery!! The best by far!)

Ok - I can tell - the suspense is killing you.....

Ha ha!! Got you!!
That my friend is  Watermelon Art!

ps.... it's an elephant!

Alright  for real this time...

I made a few changes to her design - one by mistake and one on purpose..

The mistake.... I forgot to use the second shade of blues that she used in the 4 patches... oops
The intent .... I changed the center of the stars to a red, instead of leaving them the light as she does.

but! I like it

and on that note -- just because I made changes does not make this my original design. I sort of get bothered by that - when someone takes your pattern, adds a border, or removes a border, or changes a color,  and now calls it their "Original Design"  .  This is still, in no uncertain terms - a "Bonnie Hunter" design.   it is just my interpretation of it.

Wish me luck.... my vision.... to finish it before July is Over....  So.... It is my One Monthly Goal

T Shirt Quilts

I am a HUGE fan of T Shirt Quilts!!  My kids have so many shirts, that I can't wait to get them into quilts, and get the excess parts out of here......

One of my friends was a Big Marathoner!! He had bags of Marathon and 5K and running shirts... and so... we dug through - and about 50 shirts later.....

Ta Da!!

So this is the front of the quilt... we chose to just use the logos as they fit, versus using each T as the same Size

And this is the back!
Each shirt is a square on this side

I was able to make them the exact same width, but needed a little extra on the length
I think it turned out pretty cool!!

And then my other Friends Son was graduating from High School
Which is so weird - because I still see him as 2!!!!

And this is what we did with his shirts

and then we made a pillowcase out of the backs of the Ts
Too much fun!!
