So.... should I reamend my One Monthly Goal?? Maybe this was really supposed to be it - ha!

Anyways - we can't wait to snuggle under it.  I think this is my 3rd Patriotic quilt that I have kept - so each of my kids should have a Patriotic Quilt !   Yay me!!

EnProvence Progress and Kevin the Quilter Mystery

In case you didn't know.... Kevin the Quilter is hosting his very First Mystery Quilt!!! Yay!!!

And you all know  I love mysteries.... And I know! The timing is at the same time as mine... ( sort of) but what the heck!! What is just One! More! Project!   ??

Hubby says it's one more thing to keep me out of trouble... so get to stitchin'!!

This is my start of Clue #1!!
I still have the stitching to do - but the cutting was fun!
However!!
Kevin promised it would help me whittle down my scraps... I'm thinking he doesn't know the extent of my scraps!!

And My EnProvence!!
I have the insides all stitched together.
I wasn't sure I was going to add the outer border.... But After looking at it for a few minutes
I'll get to stitchin and put it on!

Check this out!
Our 4H Group is going to be in a parade!
So the Lovely people at Ericksons Floral in Greeley are sponsoring our float
and!! They taught us all about decorating it!!!

We do have some more to do - but we had so much fun so far
( the boy in the turquoise - he is mine)

Just so you know
I don't like HOT so much
So on days like this weekend where we hit 100
I dream of this!!

Alright
Back to work!!
Hope you have a Happy 4th of July
and I will see you Wednesday for the start of:

EnProvence - its back on the design wall...

I'm not sure I should really post this - because my Follow Thru on this quilt has been so..... lazy!!!

Can you Imagine? Me!!! Lazy......  Alright... pick yourself up - get to reading!!

And the funny thing?? I LOOOOVE this quilt - this design of Bonnie Hunters is just amazing
( well, don't tell her, I like them all - but this current mystery!! The best by far!)

Ok - I can tell - the suspense is killing you.....

Ha ha!! Got you!!
That my friend is  Watermelon Art!

ps.... it's an elephant!

Alright  for real this time...

I made a few changes to her design - one by mistake and one on purpose..

The mistake.... I forgot to use the second shade of blues that she used in the 4 patches... oops
The intent .... I changed the center of the stars to a red, instead of leaving them the light as she does.

but! I like it

and on that note -- just because I made changes does not make this my original design. I sort of get bothered by that - when someone takes your pattern, adds a border, or removes a border, or changes a color,  and now calls it their "Original Design"  .  This is still, in no uncertain terms - a "Bonnie Hunter" design.   it is just my interpretation of it.

Wish me luck.... my vision.... to finish it before July is Over....  So.... It is my One Monthly Goal

Plenty of Progress???

In December I got to go to a Quilt Retreat, and I LOVED it so much!  I came home and asked Wrangler Man - how do I make that happen here? At Home?

Then Judy said she was going to host a Monthly Blog Quilt a Thon.  We talked about it, and thought maybe I could just pretend that those were my new *at home retreat* days.... and then the day came....

and we had snow, and ice, and the water tank heater needed human help, and the horses hooves needed human help, and ... then there were sports.....  and well - you all know that the whole *retreat* thing did not happen.

However!!!   I still got a lot done ( well a lot in my world)

Tip #1 to myself - Prepare anyways.  Prep your 2-3 projects you are going to work on and hide the rest.

Tip #2 to myself - Plan meals, and prep them ahead of time.... and even if the ranch work falls in on you, you still have a nice warm dinner.

My First Project - my January UFO/OMG - got all 12 blocks made and then put these little borders on them.... I have a plan people - I have a plan now!!

Project #2
Quilted a little bit.   I might have a LOT of my own tops that need to be quilted. If they are QOV"s for some reason I am more dedicated in getting them quilted - here is to the Year of Quilting on my own!

Project #3
En Provence

I am changing the colors just a little - those 4 white squares around the star are supposed to be yellow, and I didn't like it... Didn't hate it - but didn't like it - so!  I now have 1 whole block made, and am ready to dig in to the other 15

( oh ya - Part A of Clue 7 is all done)

Project #4

Mystery #5 - This is one of those - I can;t show you but.......  parts.....

I host the MysteryQuilts4Military Yahoo Group - and our Next mystery starts next month - so I was finishing up the final details..... you should join in - it is going to be fun!!!

And when you are done- you will have a Quilt of Valor ready to go!
I know that lots of coordinators are needing quilts, and lots of groups would love to have you help out!!

Project #5 - ha ha - had you.... #5 was to take a nap.....

Someone posted - the Reveal is out.... and I panicked - cuz!!! I didn't have any planned sewing time till Friday...

What is a girl to do?

See - Look!!  Proof that I  waaaaaas caught up!!

What to do???? Last night - I pulled out a crockpot meal, got it defrosting in the fridge - and today!! When the Rose Parade Comes on.... I  AM STITCHING..... well at least a little bit!!

Can't wait to look at other's versions! I think Bonnie Outdid herself this time!!

Merry Day After Christmas!!

Oh I hop you all had a wonderful day yesterday - I know some were filled with family and others with quilting!  Ours had a little mini blizzard pass though, and leave us covered in ice!

Walking dogs this morning ( in the dark as well) was a crunchy slippery experience! Ha - but I survived.

Right before the Day - I even finished!! all of my Mystery Clues!

After the making of the Pumpkin Pies - I got them all cut out!!

After the making of the Strawberry Pretzel salad - I got them stitched
and PS
my Mom or Mother in law always makes this salad - and I did it this year
and it was EDIBLE!!! Ha!!

and because I am actually keeping up
here's an ALL clue shot!

Wednesday was the Winter Solstice
Last year we were jut beginning our RIcky Timms Photography class - and we were told to take a photo on the solstice

This year he gave us the same assignment and I headed out to the same place.

The reason - I wanted to see how far I had come
And although I LOVE my old solstice photo - I did edit it a bit
This one - Straight out of  the camera

To me - that is a great thing, I have learned so much on how to use my camera first to set things up - so it made me happy!!

Quitville Mystery Clue 4

Happy Monday!!!
Our weekend was Oh So Cold!!! and we headed out to watch my son play basketball.

Down in Denver they got way more snow than we did, but most of the roads were plowed well enough to drive - until you got to the one right by the school .  ( in the snow plow drivers defense - we were WAY early in the morning)

As we are turning onto the road - I scream (to my little car)  Don't get stuck - and Wrangler man yells at me to gun it.... and we made it - who knew you would need to go 4 wheelin' in town - ha ha!!!

On to the Mystery!!!

This is Clue #3 .... and I am going to be the first to tell you - I made a new Design Element with these - and my fingers are crossed they will be ok!!  I didn't read well - and I didn't read that you were supposed to use a light and a dark (Purple is my Navy)   and so!! They are all dark.....

We will see what happens????

and because it makes me happy - Clue 1-3

And then...... Clue 4

Remember the basketball thing?
Yep - it was ALL day

and when we got home - we had chores to do, and then it was bedtime

since I am sure you want to see my kid?

He is the one in White ;-)
( and I took that photo - I am just so happy!!!)

Alright!! The deets!!

The Quiltville Mystery can be found here:

Mystery Monday and Retreat!!!

Oh Boy!! We are on Clue #2 of the

EnProvence Mystery from Bonnie over at Quiltville!!!

After a couple of upside Down blocks - I am on a roll!!!

I am doing it in Patriotic along with

Which is really good - cuz when I ask him what color my magenta was supposed to be,
he doesn't even laugh at me!!!!!!

We need 100 - I have 10 perfectly done!

But I have a good excuse -
The Men kicked me out of the house for a while!!
And I got to go up to the mountains for a

QUILT RETREAT!!!

and I might have got a few things done!!

Here is one!

I was gifted these 9 patches
and sew - I put them into a quilt top

Here is a better image
( I didn't realize how dark that was!)

And - a little image from one of my latest photoshoots ;-)

This is my pasture - wierd right???

Mystery Monday and more!!

I hope you all had a Great Thanksgiving and week. My whole family was home, and man did I work them.... More about that tomorrow!!

In Between all the work - Bonnie EnProvence Mystery Clue #1 came out!! Yippee!!  The men went Black Friday Shopping... and I started in on Clue #1

( before you give them too much grief - Carhartt Jackets were on sale, and mine is 22 years old, and Smooth Wire was on sale, and Hay tarps.... so you know - it was all manly stuff!)

As you know - Bonnie patterns are pretty scrappy, but she gave some cool options for this first step - so mine feels a little boring - but I am sure it will work out great in the end!!

So! There it is in all of its Glory - Clue #1

(PS - I'm linking to Kevin's EnProvence too - he and I are both doing it in Patriotics!!!)

And since it didn't take me as long as I had scheduled for - I started working on this!

My goal is 12 blocks - I am now up to 9 blocks
(maybe 10 by the time you read this, but I hadn't squared it up yet
so it doesn't count)

and yes - I am double Designing Walling !!

These are Chimney Sweep blocks
Every pattern I read had them in 2 7/8 inch strips
but I had a huge box of pre cute 2 1/2 inch strips -
so I modified the pattern a bit

You can find it in my Craftsy store ( for free)
if your interested
