The Backs ( and maybe a front)

The backs of these quilts look so cool!!!

Don't they just give so much to these?  I really love the way they llook!!!

My friend rescued this retro panel - the cats are so cute. So she cut them all up and added the sashing. Its a great quilt . ( and the front as promised in the title)

I finally finished a book. This one was rather hard to put down tho - i don't want to give too much away - but there is a HUGE twist in the end. I got it on Amazon Kindle here: The Perfect Marriage

A book!!! I read a book!

It is called *Don't forget to write*  and I am pretty sure that I got it for free on my Kindle/Prime reading thingy ( technical terms are eluding me right now)

But!! I liked it!!

it is set in 1960 - and the main character is a little bit of a trouble maker - but! her mischief is because she is boy crazy and does not like to be told what to do... now you know why I liked it... the not being told what to do part!!!

Marilyn Gets sent to her Great aunts - who is a Matchmaker... and it is quite charming.

The Great Aunt in this novel reminds me of my Grandfathers sister... she was a Character!!

When I was 18 I drove a different Great Aunt (J) across the country ( California to Michigan) so she could hang out with her family... of course  Great Aunt A was there... My Grandfathers Sister.

Great Aunt A decided that she should take me into town to get ice cream, and so we did!! And we passed a construction crew - where she immediately wolf whistled at the crew... I am pretty sure that my face has not seen such a shade of red as it did that day....

She was Hilarious, nothing fazed her, she was stubborn, and bossy, and did everything her way!!

And Marilyns Great Aunt in the novel - very much reminded me of her...

its a fun read.....

A QOV, The Prairie and!! Finished ( or not) Friday!!!

Happy Happy Friday!!!

This week I got to Quilt on this AMAZING Quilt of Valor!!! I love bold ones - they just pop out at you!!

Isn't this on Gorgeous!!! Verna made it and sent it to me to Quilt for our Awards - and holee cow - I fell in love!!!

I think that a Veteran will fall in love with this one too!

And for my other finish... a BOOK!!!!

It is called Prairie - and it is AWESOME!!! So maybe you will recall - I LOVE history... and this book - oh my gosh - this book is full of AMAZING Western History -

Well - first it is a very inspiring story about a young lady heading west in a wagon train - her name is Frankie.  ( PS - my new mantra is Frankie could do it, you can do it!!!) and Frankie suffers some hardships on the trail - but she perseveres.

This story takes you through her adventures, but! It also gives you a real glimpse of what life back then could be like. It inspired me so much... I made the Trip to Ft Laramie - just to see what some of these things could be like....

This is what is said about the book "

"Frankie Harding finds herself alone on the vast prairie of the Nebraska Territory in 1863. With the loss of her family to fever along the trail West, ten-year-old Frankie is faced with the decisions and choices of an adult. With her only other options of turning back East, to a life and home that no longer exist, or waiting by the trail for some unknown person or family to take her in, Frankie chooses to make her own way West.

Fully aware that she has no idea of what to expect, Frankie learns that the journey across the prairie is the same for her as anyone else; it's about taking one step at a time on the prairie, learning one lesson at a time. She knows that, along with a team of horses and a wagon filled with all she has left in life, it's her own character and passion that will take her to the homestead that waits for her, somewhere out on the vast prairie.

This is Frankie's story about traveling home, about going the distance and finding something permanent, both inside herself and across the prairie. It's a story about loving life, about holding onto life, and about building a life. Ultimately, it is a hero's journey...a journey of the heart and the spirit."

I agree - and you will NOT be disappointed!!!  You can find it at Amazon ( click here : Prairie - the Book ) or Barnes and Noble

and now.... back to you!! Its time for you to brag!!!

Mays Book report

I only got a few books read this month - but! you know I picked up one about knitting ....

The Yarn Balls caught my attention:

Lydia owns a Yarn shop and she starts a group called Knit to Quit. This book follows their story, at the same time that Lydia is fostering a young girl.  I really liked it - it was an easy read, but it was a feel good one!

I also liked this one - Its the story of Three cousins who spent summers together at Grandma Lucys house. They have since gone their own ways - but when Grandma Lucy passes - part of the requirements of getting their inheritance is to come back and live in her house for the summer.

Grandma Lucy was a quilter - and it is the Quilting that draws these three cousins back together.

I liked this one too -
its a family that creates the Quilting circle - and it draws them all together. They work hard to fix past hurts and past regrets.

These were all easy reads, and easy to get in to.

Enjoy!

April Books

Airplanes make for long good reading periods.... I got 4 read in April!!!

Are you ready???

Oh ya, I told you no super serious ones this month - I had really LONG ones last month!!\

I had a like/don't like with this one....It started out so great, but in the middle there was a little bit of a lecture to the reader.  I notice a lot of her books take on a purpose in educating you, the reader, and thats all good.... but....

Anyways this is what the reviews say:

"Summer Valentine has returned to Moonlight, South Carolina, a very different woman from the naive wallflower who left years before. These days she’s straightforward and savvy, determined to do right by her son, David―even if that means cashing in her struggling music career in Nashville and returning to the town that drove her away. Sure, she took a fall. But at least she now knows where she stands…

Despite her anger over the past, Summer believes David deserves a relationship with his father, Hunter ‘Hunt’ McCroy. Though Hunt’s illustrious career has faded, privilege still protects him from his worst mistakes.

Someone else is back in Moonlight too: Rhett Bryan, the golden boy of Hollywood, who’s taking stock of his own life after a tragic accident. As his rekindled friendship with Summer quickly deepens, she must reconcile the painful history that ties her to both men―one she’s finally forgiven, one she’s afraid to love―to claim healing and happiness."

I really liked this next one. Libby gets really hit hard with some life changing things, and I like how she takes charge, her humor, and the way she made it all about her. ( I can relate!)  I think the change between having a perfect life, and a life that you want to live was a great take away!

"Libby Miller has always been an unwavering optimist—but when her husband drops a bomb on their marriage the same day a doctor delivers devastating news, she realizes her rose-colored glasses have actually been blinding her.

With nothing left to lose, she abandons her life in Chicago for the clear waters and bright beaches of the Caribbean for what might be her last hurrah. Despite her new sunny locale, her plans go awry when she finds that she can’t quite outrun the past or bring herself to face an unknowable future. Every day of tropical bliss may be an invitation to disaster, but with her twin brother on her trail and a new relationship on the horizon, Libby is determined to forget about fate. Will she risk it all to live—and love—a little longer?

From critically acclaimed author Camille Pagán comes a hilarious and hopeful story about a woman choosing between a “perfect” life and actually living."

Alright - this one took me a minute to get into - but once I realized that we were going to go thru life with three different characters - and then a group chapter - it totally made sense!!  sometimes I am not the most brilliant bulb in the box!!!

It was a great novel about three friends realizing that they needed each other, and that thier friendship helped them get thru a lot of things going on it their lives.

"Grown-up life in Dublin hasn't worked out quite as planned for school friends Melissa, Steph and Eilis.

Melissa has a successful career as a journalist, but inside she's a mess of insecurities.

Stay at home Mum, Steph is lonely and lost, walking on eggshells around her philandering husband and angry teenage daughter.

And Eilis, a hardworking A&E doctor, is just going through the motions with her long-term partner Rob.

A wonderfully warm debut, about friends you can’t live without and about choosing the life you really want."

This one might have been my favorite for the month:
"Carla Sullivan’s 50th birthday is fast approaching when her whole world is turned upside down. Discovering her feckless husband is having yet another affair and following her mother’s death, she is in need of an escape. Finding an envelope addressed to her mother’s estranged sister Josette in the South of France gives Carla the perfect plan.

Seizing the moment, she packs her bags and heads to Antibes to seek out the enigma known as Tante Josette. But as the two women begin to forge a tentative relationship, family secrets start to unravel, forcing Carla to question her life as she has always known it."

It is one that I took on the plane, and I was okay with the long flight - I was totally entertained.

There you go!! My Book reports.

Ps - When I was a kid I hated doing these - and now I get all happy that I can actually remember what I read!!!!

A Sad Happy Day... and books of March

Today is a Sad Happy day. It is Happy because a lot of offices in our area have decided to have actual return to the office hours... so yay... Covid numbers are declining enough...

It is Sad,.,.... My Man has to go back to the office a few days a week. After having him working from home for over 2 years - I kinda got used to him.   I mean - it was an adjustment - but!

I liked that on the lunch hour I could get him involved in my projects ( okay, really to do them, but don't tell him that!)  and on nice weather days we could go get a little riding in... and maybe check on a fence post or 6.....

I Actually went grocery shopping with the thought of having to make portable lunches for him again. SO STRANGE....

Anyways... on to the Books I read in March.

Not as many - but SUPER long.....

The first was

The Last Rose of Shanghai

Here's what they say

"In Japanese-occupied Shanghai, two people from different cultures are drawn together by fate and the freedom of music…

1940. Aiyi Shao is a young heiress and the owner of a formerly popular and glamorous Shanghai nightclub. Ernest Reismann is a penniless Jewish refugee driven out of Germany, an outsider searching for shelter in a city wary of strangers. He loses nearly all hope until he crosses paths with Aiyi. When she hires Ernest to play piano at her club, her defiance of custom causes a sensation. His instant fame makes Aiyi’s club once again the hottest spot in Shanghai. Soon they realize they share more than a passion for jazz―but their differences seem insurmountable, and Aiyi is engaged to another man.

As the war escalates, Aiyi and Ernest find themselves torn apart, and their choices between love and survival grow more desperate. In the face of overwhelming odds, a chain of events is set in motion that will change both their lives forever.

From the electrifying jazz clubs to the impoverished streets of a city under siege, The Last Rose of Shanghai is a timeless, sweeping story of love and redemption."

I thought it was amazing that in my history classes- I don't remember learning about the Jews fleeing to Shanghai - and what the life was there. That same disbelief that America had - that these atrocities could be happening.

And the next book

Carnegies Maid;

At first I thought it was true - but alas - it is not.
and it is long, and you wonder how money could make people so different , when in reality, they all started at the same place...

Here is what they say:

Clara Kelley is not who they think she is. She's not the experienced Irish maid who was hired to work in one of Pittsburgh's grandest households. She's a poor farmer's daughter with nowhere to go and nothing in her pockets. But the woman who shares her name has vanished, and assuming her identity just might get Clara some money to send back home.

Clara must rely on resolve as strong as the steel Pittsburgh is becoming famous for and an uncanny understanding of business, attributes that quickly gain her Carnegie's trust. But she still can't let her guard down, not even when Andrew becomes something more than an employer. Revealing her past might ruin her future—and her family's.

With captivating insight and heart, Carnegie's Maid is a book of fascinating 19th century historical fiction. Discover the story of one brilliant woman who may have spurred Andrew Carnegie's transformation from ruthless industrialist to the world's first true philanthropist."

After visiting Newport RI - I am somewhat intrigued by these people - and that is what drew me to this novel

You can bet - I am picking shorter books for April - haha!

The books I read in February

A friend Recommended The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah.

The two of us love to read historical fiction and she thought I would like it... and she was right! Funny thing tho... My hometown is mentioned... and she didn't tell me that until I had read it!! It actually explains a lot of the nicknames that are called in that town... hmm

Here is the description from Ms Hannah:

"Texas, 1934. Millions are out of work and a drought has broken the Great Plains. Farmers are fighting to keep their land and their livelihoods as the crops are failing, the water is drying up, and dust threatens to bury them all. One of the darkest periods of the Great Depression, the Dust Bowl era, has arrived with a vengeance.

In this uncertain and dangerous time, Elsa Martinelli—like so many of her neighbors—must make an agonizing choice: fight for the land she loves or go west, to California, in search of a better life. The Four Winds is an indelible portrait of America and the American Dream, as seen through the eyes of one indomitable woman whose courage and sacrifice will come to define a generation."

of course, to offset that book I had to go back to my True Crime guy!!!

This was an awesome book - and with Reacher coming to Amazon Prime - it was the perfect time to read it!  I got all my action and adventure knocked out haha!

Mr Goldbergs Description:

"When a passenger jet crashes onto the beaches of Waikiki, bestselling thriller writer Ian Ludlow knows the horrific tragedy wasn’t an accident.

Years before, the CIA enlisted Ian to dream up terrorism scenarios to prepare the government for nightmares they couldn’t imagine. Now one of those schemes has come true, and Ian is the only person alive who knows how it was done… and who is behind the plot. That makes him too dangerous to live.

Ian goes on the run, sweeping up an innocent bystander in his plight—Margo French, a dog walker and aspiring singer. They are pursued by assassins and an all-seeing global-intelligence network that won’t stop until Ian and Margo are dead. Ian has written thrillers like this before, but this time he doesn’t know how it’s going to end—or if he will be alive to find out."

And then... I read:

I loved it!!! I so felt both characters. it was one of those Two character perspectives from the then and now. The Now charachter is learning so much about the then charachter. it was heart warming.

her Description

"Margaret Van Buren was a young socialite growing up in post-war Alabama who married the man chosen for her. After enduring his unfaithfulness for years, she decided to flee to Sweet Bay, Ala. There she discovered the Hideaway, a B and B that became her refuge. Though Margaret longed for an “uncomplicated love,” instead she found a devastating love that changed her forever. Her life was a mystery to most, but her death opened up many secrets she had hidden. Margaret wills the Hideaway to her only granddaughter, Sara, with one request: that she refurbish the quaint B and B to its former glory. When Sara receives news of Margaret’s death and her ownership of the Hideaway, she is stunned. Leaving her New Orleans antique shop behind, she immediately begins work on the old house. During Sara’s extended visit to her childhood home, she longs to know the woman she had believed was eccentric, realizing that she had never bothered to look behind the protective wall that surrounded her grandmother. While cleaning out the attic, Sara discovers an old box that unveils many secrets of a Margaret she never truly knew. "

and the last book

Well... I am one now - so the title caught my eye... But! I hope that I am better than this one haha!

It is actually a very good book. One of the things that gets me tho, is that these kids expect their parents to still support them after the are married and have families.... Is that really expected? I am so independent, and so are my kids - that that threw me.....

Anyways - here is the description

"A twisty, compelling new novel about one woman's complicated relationship with her mother-in-law that ends in death...

From the moment Lucy met her husband’s mother, she knew she wasn’t the wife Diana had envisioned for her perfect son. Exquisitely polite, friendly, and always generous, Diana nonetheless kept Lucy at arm’s length despite her desperate attempts to win her over. And as a pillar in the community, an advocate for female refugees, and a woman happily married for decades, no one had a bad word to say about Diana…except Lucy.

That was five years ago.

Now, Diana is dead, a suicide note found near her body claiming that she longer wanted to live because of the cancer wreaking havoc inside her body.

But the autopsy finds no cancer.

It does find traces of poison, and evidence of suffocation.

Who could possibly want Diana dead? Why was her will changed at the eleventh hour to disinherit both of her children, and their spouses? "

There you have it.... that is my reading for the month.

January Books I've read.... and liked!

I found a book on my Kindle called Lost Hills....

I used to live in a state that had a place called Lost Hills... so it drew me in... and oh my gosh - It's a series and now I have read 3 of the 4 and am anxiously waiting the release of the 4th.

But! You don't have to read them consecutively.

Lee Goldberg is an amazing writer - and I will tell you - you start the book and you don't want to put it down - or at least I didn't. But it was cold outside - so that might have had something to do with it!

Eve Ronin is the main character - she is the detective and ( obviously ) she is out solving cases. But! A forensic Investigator is added to the mix. and .... this is something I have always been interested in - so it was cool.

Eve also has a knack for getting herself in a *little* bit of trouble - so you kinda just have to know what is going to happen next.

Bone Canyon is Number 2

and Gated Prey is the Third -
And yes

I read them all!!! and yes - I have saved more of Lee Goldbergs books to read.....

And then - I moved onto another book - about a seamstress during WWII and... her life in present day. I loved it. There was Drama, intrigue and fabric.... I mean - how could that be bad?

It is called the Keeper of Happy Endings.   It is about fate, second chances, and history.

Here is what Google Books says:

An enchanting novel about fate, second chances, and hope, lost and found, by the Amazon Charts bestselling author of The Last of the Moon Girls.

Soline Roussel is well schooled in the business of happy endings. For generations her family has kept an exclusive bridal salon in Paris, where magic is worked with needle and thread. It's said that the bride who wears a Roussel gown is guaranteed a lifetime of joy. But devastating losses during World War II leave Soline's world and heart in ruins and her faith in love shaken. She boxes up her memories, stowing them away, along with her broken dreams, determined to forget.

Decades later, while coping with her own tragic loss, aspiring gallery owner Rory Grant leases Soline's old property and discovers a box containing letters and a vintage wedding dress, never worn. When Rory returns the mementos, an unlikely friendship develops, and eerie parallels in Rory's and Soline's lives begin to surface. It's clear that they were destined to meet--and that Rory may hold the key to righting a forty-year wrong and opening the door to shared healing and, perhaps, a little magic.

and the last book I read - well it was a fluff one - but kinda fun -

Called Deconstructed

Definitely one I would not recommend to my husband... but it was a fun one - and again - A lady sewed things - so you know - that Always interests me. Here's what Amazon says

An exhilarating novel about fast friends and fashionable revenge by Liz Talley, the USA Today bestselling author of Adulting.

Antique-store owner Cricket Crosby's life is turned upside down when she discovers that the rumors of her husband's affair aren't just leisurely southern gossip. Her plan: hire an investigator; find an attorney; enlist the help of her new assistant, Ruby; and make her husband pay.

Ruby knows how quickly everything changes. After a dicey past, she's determined to forge a new future by working for Cricket and reinventing herself as a designer, deconstructing vintage haute couture. If anybody can help mend a few tears in Cricket's life, she can.

But turns out Cricket's life isn't just a little torn. It's wrinkled, stained, and falling apart at the seams. With Ruby and her ragtag relatives--a soused PI and a hunky tow truck driver--Cricket is sleuthing her way to the truth, no matter how dangerous it gets.

Sure, Cricket's life isn't what she imagined. But she's embracing change and figuring out what she really wants. And that's kind of fabulous.

*****

Enjoy!!!!

Book Reviews

January let me read a few books - and two I really liked, the other... ahh... well - I finished it - but... well...

I really really liked this one... It was a Historical Fiction one again... But what amazes me... We sure didn't know what was right and wrong in the olden days - but people are resilient and tough - and it is amazing the way people can survive things we think are un-survivable.

This book is inspired by a true story, about a boy whose life is transformed at Seattle's epic 1909 World's Fair, and how it effects hime through out his life. Its a history, a love story, and one designed to make you more compassionate

Here is another one that will make you examine your compassion, and your ability to judge people. In both the bad judgement ways, and the ways that you perceive things to be... it was GOOD!

"An emotionally raw and resonant story of love, loss, and the enduring power of friendship, following the lives of two young women connected by a home for “fallen girls,” and inspired by historical events."  This was the amazon description - and I concur!!

My friend works with homeless and abused mothers - and I always thought she was the most compassionate person around - reading this confirms my opinion of her!!

And of course - its a Historical Fiction book too!

and the last book -

This was my "meh" book - the description made me think I would love it - as it had espionage, royalty and war.... and it was really hard for me to get through - I felt lost a lot ... and the whole story didn't grip me - but I love Beatriz.... so I was determined to get through it.... maybe you would love it... but...

Enjoy!!!

Book Reports!! I may have read more than One!!!

I think I might have found a time period that I love to read about. This one is also about a WWII Veteran. AND! a Woman Pilot.

It is told as Three Stories - intertwining into one event.  Max - the WWII Veteran, Johanna, the German Test Pilot ( see WOMEN PILOTS)  and Beth, Max's Daughter - who brings them all together.

I highly recommend it.

True to me : I will be honest - I chose it for the book cover, but it turned out to be a very interesting fictional read.

A daughter learns upon her mothers death, that the man she thought was her father is not, and that her family is from Hawaii. And this story is of how she decides to find her family, and the family she found.

It is pretty cool - no women pilots though...

I am hooked on a time period - I do believe! This book is loosely based on a Model turned Photographer during WWII - Lee Miller - . The fictional character in this book is named Jessica May.

There is the main story - about Jessica May and her adventure as a War Photographer, and then the sub plot of how  two worlds collide - with a current day character - D'Arcy.

There is a lot that I think I know about WWII, but then, reading this novel, there were things brought to the forefront about that war that I didn't know. Issues that maybe don't get talked about as much, especially ones about how we thought the  concentration camps were rumors, and not a reality.

it is a long book, but I have to tell you - totally worth your time in reading it.

Book report: Postcards from a Stranger

This one was kind of interesting... It took  me a minute to get into it, but I think that is because there is some secrecy and it takes a bit to build those characters - but once you get reading... you kind of want to know what the family secret it.

Very interesting read, and very interesting way the family interacts with each other.

Book Report - The Last Correspondent

Oh My Stars!!! I have another MUST read book for you!!

It is called

The Last Correspondent

Written by Soraya M Lane

Surprisingly Amazon Recommended it for me, and they were dead on!! ( Unlike their movie recommendations for me haha)

This book is about a Female Photo Journalist and a Female reporter during WWII. Their claim to fame in the book , is that they beat the male reporters to the story on Omaha Beach - and it is cool!

This is Historical Fiction - but!! the main characters are based on Three real life women. ONE of them really did beat the men to shore and watched the drama unfold ( Normandy) before the male correspondents even made it to the event.....

Enjoy!!!!

I read.... my book report

I am not sure how I found this book.. but I am glad that I did.  It is Fiction - but it is just such a great perspective of the life and times of Jackie Kennedy and .. of course - President Kennedy.

I have read a few books about that time period -most seem to focus on President Kennedy, his family, or are from the perspective of the Secret Service Agents. All great perspectives - however this one is written from Jackie's Perspective, and the things that she went through ..

First Meeting Jack, marrying him, and through her life - I really liked it, and thought it was a very well written book.

What have you read lately? Leave me a comment - I am searching for a new book to read

Design Wall Monday

My design wall has not changed much... but I did get six more of my Greek Key blocks cut - and this is where I am in the stitching process.... I think if I had just had one more hour free in the day Sunday - I could have been there.... but!

I had places to go... and things to do... and well, you always need something to get you out of chores on the weekdays... right??

See... it stayed the same
just in case you thought I was joking

Now for the Book I just finished... Oh my.... you all... Beatriz is just one of the best writers in the world... or at least in my world. and this book DID NOT disappoint!!!

I am a huge fan of Flying, of women flying, and of stories of women flying.....
Oh this one....

I am sure it was a million pages, and that was still not long enough - I wanted the story to go on...it flips back and forth between two people and two different years and you all... one is a pilot and one is a photojournalist ( both women) and .. I swear this is just a book you all have to read!!

PS - I should add... there is swearing and some talk - but if you make it G rated in your head.... well - I am a G rated girl - so I just *bleep* it out

Oh and Check this out!!
My friend - who owns Summit View Designs  re designed my WebPAGE!!!

has a whole new look!!
we are still adding a few things - But I totally love where she has gone with it...

I kinda LOVE it!! she is so talented!!

Another *Books* post!!

I read some books again!!  I may have to make this a habit!!

Of course - with 4 people vying for the Wifi in the Middle of Nowhere.... Books are much easier to get my hands on than a show to binge watch....

So!!
The first one I read:
The Country Guesthouse.
I didn't think I liked it, and was ready to put it down, when there was a twist that kept me reading. But the start was a little Cliche for me... but then there was a little mystery and that made my mind go all over the place - and if I was a writer... Inow have about 15 plotlines this could follow haha!

This one I really liked - it is not a hard read, but the story starts from two different perspectives. and the decisions that the characters make come out as the book goes along, and you sympathize.... and look over your shoulder.... just in case ;-)

This book intrigues me, only because Cleo is a single mom who was pregnant in her senior year of college, she goes to Law school with a young child and is a Senator at 37.... well then her life comes into focus for us.

BUT!! I have a kid who just graduated law school, and he is in the middle of prepping for the Bar ( or maybe he will have taken it by now) and being a mom myself - I just wonder where in the heck she could do all this without boatloads of help ---

That aside - its actually a good book about Women and realizing we need our other women

Books.... as in I read one or two

At the end of every month a few of the bloggers I follow post the books that they have read - and I LOVE THIS!!!   But I don't read as much as I used to... when I hauled kids around to all the million of sporting events.... I always had a book....

and I like Books - I didn't think I would like a kindle or a reader... cuz I am old fashioned... Until!!

My son set me up on a Kindle I pad thing and now - I love it. It is even on my phone..... I feel so technological.... ( Or unlogical? depends on the day!)

Now I can share some of the books that I have read - and just so you know - I did read some hard cover books as well as kindle books... you can't make me change that fast!

My First hard Cover book was:

I am a huge Sandra Dallas Fan.. and this one did not dissappoint!  It is set in 1852 - in Chicago - and there is a wagon train looking to take Women ( and women only ) west to help tame the west.... as in marry these women off to men already living there.

A side note - My husbands Great Great GrandFather Arranged a very similar trip to sail women around the horn from the east coast to the west coast in 1864 - ( google the Mercer Girls)  so this book held a lot of interest to me.

I Told you about this one - I had seen it on another blog. At the time the libraries were closed and I had no patience - so I just bought it.... Hard Cover - which is good, because  I passed it to my mom, and my dad, and as soon as I get it back it is going to a friend!

This is about the Red Cross girls During World War II - It is historical Fiction - but there is a list in the back of the stories she used to compile this book. And Being able to be around Veterans from this era - wow - this book really was one I couldn't put tdown

~~

I also read this one... I give it 2 1/2 stars of 5.... It was not my favorite - but it was a good look at the lives of Immigrant Women in America in the early 1900's - 1908 I think.  I am a fan of having a goal to get to, and this was more like a meandering conversation... ( to me)

Now this one... it is not my usual type of book! But I really liked it - Bea is sort of homeless after some unfortunate events ( and she is elder) ... she starts in on some crazy capers and along the way - Allie jumps in with her ( she can't drive yet)

It was a heartwarming story to me of two opposite lives and how we should value the people in our lives

That is my Book Report for June ... I have new books downloaded and purchased for July. You can't get me to go all 100% electronic - haha!!

Now if you do a book post too - leave me a comment so I can go check your post out and get even more books to add to my list!!
