You may remember - I found a pile of fabrics???
Then I went to a sew Day and someone was giving away an American Patchwork Quilting magazine.... and I started flipping thru it.....
and found the perfect project for these Fabrics:
I said to myself - Myself.. Make a block a Day, and I did for 6 days, and then!! I had to re-organize the house again.... Okay not really - but!!
I ( Really husband and 2 kids.. I supervised) moved a huge desk unit that we didn't really utilize other than a place to pile things... and we listed it to sell.... move out.... bless someone else. And that made me sort all the piles that were on it.. Found a pair of sunglasses... But mostly paperwork that I just hadn't filed/shredded yet....
I find it interesting to see the things that we *meant* To put away, but life goes to fast... and its still there. I moved one of the flatter desks we have into that office space and Oh! My! Goodness!!! So far I love it... much cleaner, and !! A place for my computer.... We will see what is next!

I love your new project blocks. Are you cutting 1.5" strips for them or larger?

Very pretty blocks and they are perfect for those "found" fabrics! It's good when you can move things around and make our work spaces more functional. My office was well organized a month ago, and now it needs a good clean-out again.
As times change, we need to keep our homes up to date with what we need NOW and not what we needed back then. Good for you for getting that huge piece OUT.
Surfaces have a way of becoming keepers of piles, don't they? I hope the desk finds a great new home. And your blocks look fantastic. :)
I don't know why I put off doing things sometimes. Maybe it's because My mind is so cluttered with other things I can't concentrate on the clutter in front of me. I've decided to clean out my linen closet and get rid of the things I've been storing in there because they are still too good to throw away. I haven't used them for years - I must not need them. Glad you like your space better now.

Those blocks are very pretty! It is so easy to let the papers stack up on the desk. Happy stitching!
What is the pattern that you are using for these blocks?
I am a world class piler...that is I stack things all over. Well, not all over as the hubby allows me to do what I want in my studio and on my dresser. The rest of the space is kept neat. I just wish I could get the studio neater. Hence my goal to clean off the cutting table this week. I'm not holding my breath!
Those blocks are fantastic, Alycia! I love that pattern. I have a tendency to pile things as well. Since our city no longer recycles boxes get piled until we can break them down and take them to another town for recycling. It doesn't look good but I hate to throw them in the garbage to fill the landfill. One day hopefully I will get organized! Thanks for sharing with us at Monday Musings!
My office has become so cluttered with the papers and documents and all for several summer projects. They'll be moved along in the next month or so...but what will I unearth then? LOL. I participated in the quiltalong with those blocks (Sherri McConnell). I'd like to try them again in a different theme/colorway. Thanks for the reminder!
Very fun new project. I live with someone who just piles things on any flat surface. I've given up cleaning off anything because a blank space invites a new pile. Congrats for making progress on your piles.
I really like those blocks, and I love APQ magazines, old or new. Yay for you on the reorganization, and it can make so much difference in our "feels", right? :D
Those are really pretty blocks! I'm not sure my piles would lead something as neat as those. Keep going!
Getting rid of unused things makes you feel lighter, doesn't it? Great blocks, this will be a wonderful quilt.
Those blocks are perfect for your "found" fabrics! I too have piles . . .I think I will use it sooner than I really do! LOL!!
My favorite start to a quilt story: found (or forgotten) fabrics and a back issue of a magazine (the further back the better). Why does life always get in the way of a burgeoning quilt story? Don't worry the Quilt Muses will see to it that you get back on track!
