Heartbreak

First off, if you don't like sad things, I am so sorry. I have really comtemplated if I should even put this on my blog or not - but I am. Tuesday morning we got a heartbreaking call from our Uncle. And then a follow up with my father in law. No one had very many words... a special part of our family was taken in a horrible accident. One that they say is so very rare...

Alex and Laurel

First off - I married into this family, and it is an awesome family. I got cousins, and aunts and uncles and a father in love and a mother in love, and family that I just adore. But Lori and I had a little special bond - we are both quilters. We both have 3 kids ( although that took some time over our years together). We both have Amazing Moms - that can do anything, and leave a lot to live up to. But best of all we had quilt retreats. And we always shared a room, and giggled the night away.

We compared our kids, husbands, fabric stashes ( I won) and you could NEVER have a bad time with her, or her family. You just couldn't... they were *those* people. Everyone loved them.

And I am sad to say that they are no longer with us on this earth - and my heart breaks over that.

Thank you all for your emails, and for being there. I do appreciate it - I do, and you have no idea how much my heart takes your emails to heart. I felt a lot despondent yesterday - not really knowing what to do or say or how to help or.....

I really appreciate your words .... thank you.

This is so sad! My heart is just aching for you. I know you are grieving your friend/relative, and the promise of what her children could have become. The offer of a prayer sent up for you and your family seems so inadequate, but I offer it anyway. You have my very deepest sympathies.

This was just so awful to hear when it hit the news. I know where it happened because that is where we go camping. I am so sorry to hear of this. Keep strong, Alycia.

Thank you for sharing the link to this horrifying tragedy. My heart aches; for you, for the husband and for those who held all of those little girls dear to their heart. My husband and I hugged each other tight after reading the article and crying; it truly hit home with us because of the ages of the children.

Alycia--my heart goes out to you during this time of sadness and loss.

Oh Alycia, I am so sorry to hear about this loss for your family. What a horrible accident. Alex is going to need so much support, I can't imagine what it will be like for him. He's fortunate to have such a big and loving family around him. You will all provide great support for each other and you know that they will never be forgotten.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Lori sounds like a wonderful warm and loving person, and I'm sure that she and her children will be sorely missed by everyone who knew them, and especially by their family. I believe that they are in a wonderful place and that you will be reunited with them by and by, but it seems they went too soon. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Alycia, take some time for yourself during these days ... spend time remembering and enjoying your memories of Laurel. I've been down this road, it's a long journey, but one day at a time, keep the memories close and lots of hugs to all

Oh Alycia... I'm so sorry for your loss of your family. My heart broke when I read about it. I have put Alex and your family on our church's prayer list. If one prayer seems little, more are mighty. Take things easy until you stop the internal chaos. I've been there, and it just takes time. soo, thinking about you. Peace...

Dear Alycia... I had read about this in the paper and was saddened.... but to know that you have lost members of your family really hit hard. I am sorry about your loss and want you to know that I'm praying for your entire family. Please accept my deepest condolences.

Times like these are so very difficult to get thru day by day and nothing anyone can say will make the hurt and grief go away. Each day will get easier, tho you will never forget what a wonderful person she was, nor will you forget those beautiful little girls. This is such a tragedy. You have our support, as does Dr. Alex. Just take care of yourself thru this, my friend.

Dear Alycia: You and your family are in my prayers, too. Lots of love to you all.

This is my first time to your blog, but I had read the article about the accident earlier. My heart went out to the family and loved ones at that time. You have not only lost a relative, but a best friend in Lori.

Remember they will always be with you and you will always have an empty spot in your heart.

Oh my gosh! Of course I heard about the accident, but you never dream you know someone who's connected. Large hugs to you and the rest of the family. I know it's not enough, but at least know I'm thinking about all of you.
