I have been organizing my stash somewhat - and going through what I think I might use in the next 10 years, and what I know I won't get to in the next 10 years ( I know WHO really thinks that far ahead)
So I have listed a few stash bags on my Etsy site. They are pretty cheap - mostly postage and gas. I thought about just posted them and having you email if you wanted one... but alas... I am also trying to get off of the computer on a daily basis - so .. I listed these in my store - only if you are interested:
Here is a great little stack of florals - it fills a medium sized flat rate box - so don't be surprised - you can probably make 2 quilts from it!!
https://www.etsy.com/listing/200150378/floral-fabrics-great-variety-of-florals?ref=shop_home_active_1
There are two other stash bags too... so if you need some yummies quilt with.... there you go.
My boys thank you .... they are worried I will make them have floral quilts.... sigh

Scrappy Saturday
I headed out to the Rocky Mountain Quilt Festival yesterday for a few hours - what fun! And great inspiration. I picked up a new ruler and came home and started playing in my scraps to see what I could create....
And I am still trying to find the lime green for RSC... I made be out of luck this month - but I'll find something.
Anyways - got home and took a kids to practice, then dug in the scraps and here is what I started with:
Then I went and picked up the kids from practice - and got soaked as a little rain storm came in. Then I kept working......
And then I stopped to feed the kids - dang! how they get hungry!! And this is what I ended up with for the evening. Of course I am not sure if a dent was made in my scraps - but that was fun!
I thought I would just make sure you could see the last two photos in the bucking series... didn't want to leave you hanging!
That is just not a great way to end your ride is it? But what a trooper!!

The Scrappy Book quilt
it is FINALLY FINISHED!! well - It needs its binding, but that is made and my friend said she will put it on for me!! Whoop!!! Whoop!!
So.... if you have followed me for a while - and can remember dates ( which I can not) in 2011 I finished this Carolina Christmas Quilt ( I think that is the name) it was a mystery from Bonnie Hunter:
BUT! I saved every little half square cut off. and I started making these blocks"

And then I put it into a top - and FINALLY I got to get to quilting it!!
Here it is!!!
In each of the pieced blocks I quilted this Circley thing. I thought it quilted it, yet gave it some poof.
This is the back - I pieced 2 different Very Pink fabrics together.
It is called the Scrappy Book quilt as my son thought the side looked like a book binding - and I agreed. So - bam - we named it!

another one bites the dust....
I always love summer and having my kids home, but this summer was just CRAZY!! My college kid was home and we LOVED that - but he brings another level of energy to our house. None of us are real slackers when the sun is shining, but the added energy.... Let's just say - it may be a week or two until I am caught up to normal.
I Quilted this QOV - well my photo says the 7th of July. So that is how behind I am in my photo editing/posting!
This one was put together in one of our sew days - the pattern for the block can be found ( for free)
http://alyciaquilts.blogspot.com/2012/06/block-instructions.html
I think this makes 13 QOV for the year for me. Whoot Whoot - My goal was 12... so I am glad to know I am sticking to something ;-)
Ready for your Photo of the Day?: It is actually a series - so you'll have to keep checking back to see the rest of them lol

This first one is from Marilyn W in Loveland. Marilyn is such a lovely lady - and her quilts - Oh MY!! are fabulous!!
The Next two are from Nancy H in Fort Collins - another Lovely Lady. I have sure enjoyed getting to know these two ladies. It is interesting to me where quilting takes you. I might never have met these two ladies as they are in other towns - but I met them through Quilts of Valor - and now I see them often! I LOVE it!!
This is another of Nancy's> I think this is just a fabulous quilt!!
Surprise!! One of our Combat Veterans with his quilt.
This Quilt was made by Barbara n Ft Collins. Her guild challenge was to make a quilt for either Quilts of Valor or something else - that totally slipped my mind!! She chose QOV
(oops I went out of order) Here is a THIRD quilt that Nancy made!!
Ms Lori in South Dakota is my long lost sister... okay ... my quilting Sister! I have loved getting to know her through blogging and email, and I stalk her blog... yep... I admit it... http://dakotacityquilter.blogspot.com/ Thats' her!
So the next SEVEN quilts are from her. and well - she sent them a bit ago, someone just forgot to move the photos into the QOV folder - cuz I am organized like that... and well.. they are already living with their Veterans ;-)
This one in the Not So Top Secret project #2 http://alyciaquilts.blogspot.com/search/label/Not%20So%20Top%20Secret%20Project%202

These last two from Lori are Atkinson Designs. I love how both of them turned out!! She did fabulous!
So... this picture below. I'll tell you what - this man is blessed with an awesome family. His kids are right in there helping him with all of his recovery work. His wife was fabulous and wow.. with a support system like this. I just had to take the whole family. ( well the wife was shy- but I understand)
The last quilt for today - the blocks were pieced and sent in , in abox of orphan blocks. So if you sent them to us - thank you! Harriett worked them up and put them into this fabulous top. I quilted it. I put an American symbol in each red block - it was so fun.

Design Pile Monday
It is August... time to put away all the July To-do's and Get started again.....
So way back in January ( that was the dark ages lol) I made a lot of little scrappy Crumby blocks with blue and pink. And I promptly put them in a pile.
I got inspired this weekend to drag them out and come up with a plan. What is that plan you ask?
Well.... I am not sure - but this is what it looks like so far:
Yep... this is where I am starting... Wish me luck!

Friday
This is the last Friday that my whole family will be together for a while.... Sniff Sniff.....
So we have been goofing off this week like crazy... Hiking,Movies, Dinner out, Cowboying... and putting them all to work! Seriously I think we moved 10 tons of hay, and fixed all the barns... and ... well everything that you could do to put the boys to work ;-)
I got in the pickup to get the water and look back - and this is what I see. Apparently when they pulled off one of the bales and rattlesnake came out. Or maybe it was a bull snake.. they were trying to decide. And until a decision was made... I stayed in the pick up!! ( I am smart like that!)
We went roping.... Maybe there was a little 4 wheeling in there too. Maybe?
Last night on our way home - this is what we came home to see:
( if you follow me on Face book you have already seen it - sorry)
We are at the end of our road looking towards our house. I kind of thought that maybe it was a superhero cloud - and Captain America was going to come.... but alas..... he did not....

This is called hay surfing ...
It is actually fun to make everyone laugh while we are working!

We went Hiking... up in the gorgeous High Country.
Followed up by a trip to Smokin' Dave's Restaurant.
Yumm!!
