This quilt is called

Pink Lemonade.

It reminds me of Summer - and as cold as it has been - I am missing Summer!

It measures 45 x 61 inches

 100% cotton fabrics, with Warm and Natural Batting inside.

It is machine bound in Lime Green Thread.

It has been a while

One of my goals is to get the under ironing board area all sewed up... and I would like to show my progress:

 Here it is again - the top left is all of my papers/rulers - Organized!!
The Second left.... it now is holding my crumb blocks for the RSC14 challenge. ( I have a head start I found a yellow one!! Whoot Whoot!)

In cleaning that cubby - I found all those 1/2 squares that I used for The Scrappy Book Quilt

and then I found these: ( below)

I was laying them up on the wall and they looked SO familiar - yet none of us could place a quilt with those colors right away... Finally!!! I figured it out - and I am so GLAD I have a blog - cuz there was proof that I was right!!

They are scraps from the 2012 Color Palette Challenge Quilts - specificially this one:January 2012

So now the scraps are up on my design wall - I have a plan - and I don't like the grey.... it's all a process right?

Colorado Quilt Council

Here in Colorado - we have the Colorado Quilt Council - it is a statewide organization that started about 35 years ago. And there are around 1,000 members - of which I am one! They host amazing meetings, the Capitol Quilt show, Quilt a Fair and more.

One of the projects that takes place within CQC is Project Warm Hearts, it is a project that the whole council can participate in. They publish, in the newsletter, a block for members to make, and send in to be made into quilt. The Quilts are assembled and Quilted, all by member of CQC. When a member sends in their blocks they include their charity of choice and then they draw from all the entries for the winner of these great quilts.

The purpose of this project is to give the members of CQC an opportunity to be involved in assisting other organizations with their fund raising activities.

Carol S of Highlands Ranch CO put Quilts of Valor's name in the drawing for this quilt. It was pieced by Martha J, and Quilted by Bonnie K, and Bound by Kathy D - all members of CQC.

I believe a lot of the quilts are used for fundraising - but I believe this one would be loved in a Veterans life -

And quite fitting - Look who came to visit yesterday ( before our horrible winds came) FRED!!! He is back!!

Blue Scrappy Saturday #2

Such an original title - right?

I think... I am addicted to these scraps. I have been using them as my leader enders between another few projects and they are just growing and growing.... and my bucket doesn't look any emptier... how is that?

So this is what I have from last week:  ( plus maybe a few more that didn't make it into the picture - must have been camera shy!)

And then!! I ended up with all these small pieces  - so I started putting them together into a crumb block.....

AND then!!! I had the cut offs from making the binding on my Scrappy Book quilt - I can't let those go to waste - and so ... I am starting some more. I think I have gone nuts .... just sayin'

There are two boys in that snow pile... We took them sledding behnd the 4 wheeler  - they got a little snowy... oops. The little dog wasn't sure who was there!!

Whoot Whoot!!! THIS. may be the fastest finish EVER! for me !!

I am thinking it is because it is cold in the basement, and I can only stand to work down there for so long. My dear sweet husband even turns the heat up in the morning for me.... and I am a wimp!

Here is the top!!  AND - I made the backing for it!! AND!!  Are you sitting down for this one?

I made The Binding....

Yes - yes I did!!! AND!!  I even have it pinned and ready to load on my Long Arm.... as soon as I finish the quilt that is on there!!.... Gasp... I may have it done before 2015.....can you imagine lol


Since I forgot to take pictures of the back and the binding - I will leave you with the ones I did take!

 I feel like they are watching something.... like my every move.. and wondering when I will bring the hay truck to them.... what do you think?

This guy has perched himself on my power-pole. I don't believe it is Fred - he is too small. And Wilma was taller - so I think  he is new. He was a little nervous about his position until he realized he was on the tallest spot - then he relaxed...

My Family

NEVER sits still!! Seriously - I have to bribe them....

We have spent a LOT of time snowshoeing recently - and for every mile I took at least 10 photos.... I have over 400.... just sayin'

 Here is my crew.... our first day out was so blustery. The drive to our favorite spot provided us with whit out conditions, and winds so high, we really didn't think we would be able to be out for long.

 As a matter of fact - we couldn't get up to our favorite spot , and one of us needed a rest stop... so we found a new trail....

Once we got into the trees - it was just gorgeous. The snow was falling all around. It was amazingly quiet.

The trees were just amazing - they curved and bent and went all over the place. I might have taken a TON of pictures ( oops)  - Isn't that one below just crazy?

We drove down a little lower - and look who we found. I decided she had an attitude.... or she wanted to go for Hot Chocolate.... either way - she was pretty!

Proof that the sun was out!!

This little girl didn't understand that we were not her soul mates - she kept coming closer and closer. It was a little unsettling how comfortable she felt - so we kept moving.. and she went back to eating.

Be prepared.... I have hundreds - seriously - more!

2014 Quilts of Valor

I am back at it again.... Quilt of Valor online Shows!!  I just loved all the inspiration from last year - and my bucket list got way too big!! But I was inspired!!

First off - I want to show you two Quilts of Valor that were presented by Connie. Connie has been a Godsend!  She is so full of energy, and such a great person. I so appreciate all of her support and her friendship!!

She met these two Veterans to present them Quilts of Valor and they were SO tickled. One gentleman has just lost his wife, it was an extra blessing to him to receive a quilt for his service.

(ps - these are cell phone pics - but still - I love seeing them with their quilts!)

 This first one is completely made by Linda - and she dedicated it to her mom and dad - both WWII Veterans.

The second one is made by Jenni, Linda, Monika and Teddy. It was quilted by Linda

 The one above was pieced by Monika and Janette and quilted by Linda - and so was the one below!

The next 6 quilts were all pieced by Meredith in AZ, and Quilted by Ron O in New Mexico.
They are just fabulous!!

The one above reminds me of a sunset over the desert. The colors are just amazing.

36 Patch Baby Quilt - Finished!

This quilt was started when Crazy Mom Quilts decided to do a 36 patch quilt a long. I really wanted to join in, and I found these lovely bright fabrics to do so.  The more I pieced - the more I LOVED the bright colors.

I finally got the top made, and then got a little stumped for a backing. I later found a light blue that I thought looked very nice. and a little calming to the quilt.... and now.... I am finished!!

 I was lucky and took it out to photograph BEFORE the storm rolled in! That was great... as there is a LOT of snow on my deck right now!

The fabrics are really fun and bright. I can imagine this being used as an I spy type quilt with a child. It would keep them busy for a LONG time!

Here is the back - a nice light blue.

The Scrappy Book Quilt

I don't know if that is a good name for a Quilt or not - but my son says it looks like a book to him, and I kind of agree....

This is what is up on my design wall right now. I am still hemming and hawing about the Bring Pink. I really like it, but I am letting it speak to me....

Friday there was no snow.... Saturday there was over 6 inches.... Sunday it still came down - so what are kids supposed to do?  A little sledding, and a lot of dripping, when they came inside !

Remember the flooding?

We see the damage all around us, every time we drive over the bridge, see our friends in a trailer, or travel by the river.... but we hadn't made it up the Big Thompson canyon yet. The road has been repaired, but the houses - oh my...

One of our most favorite places to snowshoe is Rocky Mountain National Park - so I let Wrangler Man drive and I took some photos.

 It is really crazy to figure out how the river actually went - some houses are completely washed out, so look just fine - yet are marked with a red X. So obviously, they are not fine - but the damage must be on the inside?

Buildings have just fallen - and the bridge to get over to them is gone...

 This one floored me - the furniture is still there - yet the bottom as fallen out.  Click on the one below - it's crazy!  ( ignore the hand)

There is a lot of work to be done up the canyon. There were lots of people sorting through debris. Pick up starts next week, so I am sure that will change the look as well. Crazy!
