LONE RIDER Finish!!! and Finished or Not Finished Friday!!

Welcome back!!
This week has just flown by to me...

On Wednesday I posted the last clue in the Mystery called LONE RIDER - and I had a top done...

Today... it is QUILTED!! Whoop Whoop

and that is a far as I will get it done, as I will take it to my QOV sew day and one of the most amazing quilters will bind it - and it will be awesome!!!  ( I Love my Sew group!!)

 



It was fun to make!!! Go get your clues now and make one! I think a Veteran will like it!

Ready??

You have a total of 80 blocks now…. So today! It’s the LAYOUT…well and then the stitching of the top!!

But …. It’s the Finale – Whoop Whoop!

If you like to make things by Rows – Which I do – You will make THREE of the Rows above

And TWO of the Rows below

And then!! Because you don’t want another clue!!

Put that baby Together!!!

Here is your final Layout!!

 This clue took me right at 2 hours, BUT! I know that you all can stitch it faster – I might have been making brownies too!

And Surprise! It finished at 64 inches by 80 Inches – YAY!!

Mystery A9 - LONE RIDER - Clue #4

Mystery A9 – Lone Rider

Clue 4

For this clue you will be using your 4 patches that you made in Clue 1, and the 4 ½ inch squares you cut in Clue 3.

You will be making 40 of these 8 ½ inch blocks!

So – First you sew a 4 patch to a solid patch.

 I pressed to the Solid piece – It’s an easy way to press.

After they are pressed – sew the right side to the left side – and voila – you have a solid block!

This clue – including pressing took me 1 hour and 20 minutes …

This is the easiest clue of the whole mystery!!

Are you ready?

You need to cut 80 - 4 ½ inch Light Squares.

Again – you can go totally scrappy –

Or use Yardage:

For Yardage

Cut 9 Wof Strips 4 ½ inches wide.

Subcut into 80 – 4 ½ inch Squares

Catch up on everything else  and enjoy your week!!

Mystery A9 – Lone Rider

Clue 2

For this clue you will be using your Dark #2 (Red in my example) and your Light.

You will be making 40 – 8 ½ inch Half Squares.

So you can go totally scrappy or use width of Fabric. I know there are many ways to make them – this is mine.

1.   Cut 5 strips WOF Dark #2 and subcut them into 9 inch squares – you need 20

2.   Cut 5 Strip WOF Light and subcut them into 9 inch squares – you will need 20

I draw a line diagonally on my light – Some people don’t need this – I get easily distracted when sewing so I do!

Then sew ¼ inch on each side of the line.

Cut on the line

Open the half square up and press.

You will have 40 -  8 ½ inch Half Squares.

Mystery A9 - Lone Rider - Clue #1

Mystery A9 – Lone Rider –Clue #1

For this Clue you will need your Dark 1 and your Light.

You will be making 80 -  4 patches! 

They will measure 4 ½ inches when finished.

If you decide you want to go completely scrappy you will need 160 -  2 ½ inch Dark 1 Squares and 160 - 2 ½ inch Light squares.

I used Width of Fabric

For WOF

Cut 10 Dark 1 strips 2 ½ inches wide

Cut 10 Light Strips 2 ½ inches wide

Pair them together and stitch.  

  Press to the Dark side.

Sub Cut the Strips into 2 ½ inch units – you should have 160 units.

A quick tip for me – I press the strips, then I lay 2 strips sets on top of each other, in opposite colors and cut my sub units. The seams nestle, and they are ready right away for sewing into a 4 patch.

After cutting you should have 160 twosies – as you can see here – I have 80 pairs – as I already have the 4 patches paired up! It’s super easy to chain stitch this way.

This is them all chain pieced and sitting on my Ironing board to be pressed. I leave them stitched in rows as it is so easy to lay them out on the board, press multiples, then clip the strings.

This clue took me under 2 hours –

1 hour and 20 minutes to Cut and sew the Strips and re cut – then 30 minutes to sew the 4 patches and press

YOU SHOULD HAVE 80 -  4 ½ inch FOUR PATCHES

Fabric Requirements

You all know I love Patriotics!!

It is going to work well with 3 colors that play together nicely – Aka Red White and Blue, or you can mix it up and do Blues( 1 light 1 dark)  and White, or Reds and whites, or.. the possibilities are endless.

MY INSTRUCTIONS will show this:

Dark 1 – Navy Plaid in my Case :  7/8 yard

Dark 2 – Red Plaid – 1 ¼ yard

Light 1 – 3 ½ yards

Other Colorways to try or give you ideas:

Dark 1: Cream

Dark 2: Navy Blue

Light: Light Blue

Or:

Dark 1: Hot Pink or Red

Dark 2: Cream

Light:  Navy

Or

Dark 1: Dark Blue

Dark 2: Light Blue

Light:  Light Grey
