Design Wall Labor day edition
This morning started out so very early - with a Legacy run for Kids for Kyla . This was a 5K and 10K run - we met up with Dr Alex, and had some fun!!! It was a great, cool, morning.
But when we got back home - I got to work on my 36 patch blocks and now they are all sewn and laying on the floor and I am comptemplating them....

Apparently I can not count - because I thought I would have 30 blocks when I was finished.... and i had 15. so one of the blocks is made from some of the leftovers.
And then I realized I had a lot of leftovers and made 4 more leftover blocks....
See them on the end of this optically challenging picture?
oh better. So my question to all my great quilty (and non quilty) people... Do I sew the 4 mish mashed blocks into the top? Or put them in the backing?
Here we all are at the Kids for Kyla Run
Finished? or Famished?
Cool Banners!!!
And Since I had finished my Memory Quilt in time I took it to give to the Doc. Jenn took the picture and I was glad - because I hadn't thought of it. It made us happy ;-) And was so good for me.... and you know it is *all about me* right? (grin)

Fitness Challenge
Amy signed up to do a Fitness Challenge... I thought .... Oh I need that!!! Maybe if I feel pressure I will get up and do something. So far so good. The goal is to get 100 miles in before the end of September and I am at 66. But a few of those miles were hard earned this week.
Tuesday Morning ( my day to sleep in) I hear - "keep her walking, I am waking up your mom" . Now just so you know - this is not a good sign. The only *hers* we have on the place, besides my sweet dog ( who was sleeping too) are horses. And if horses have to keep walking - we have a problem!
I got all dressed up - pink shorts, white tee, brown cowboys boots ( can you imagine LOL) and ran outside to see my middle son walking a horse, who kept wanting to lay down, and roll..... which means she was colicking... NOT good!
It was my turn to walk her. And boy - I tell you what - I walked her for over an hour, with her head held high, and every once in a while we had to run, to keep her from going down.
You remember those toys that if you push the bottom, the figure on the top crumples? I had one of those - only she is 1,200 pounds and a LOT taller!
Wrangler Man got back in and he walked her for an hour, and then her tummy ache came out (gross)
She settled down, but about every 15 minutes I kept checking on her. Horses are pretty easy to lose to colic, I guess. I learned a lot more about it after the fact!
All that to say - does running/walking with a horse for a million minutes in boots ( and exercise clothes) count as exercise? Or is it just your every day life, run of the mill walking?
Oh - and because we always need a picture - here is my son, running a cross country race yesterday while I stood and sweated on the sidelines....

Augusts UFO - sort of
The UFO number that Judy picked for August has dissappeared.... well I think I might know where it is, but I was too lazy to get to it.... and I had this quilt top that I had pinned to quilt like 6 months ago.... so I thought I would just switch them out!!! So LOOK a UFO is done!!
Thats all that really matters right?
Thats all that really matters right?
So ta da.... It was my quilt kit that I purchased from High Prairie quilts when I was on a stash enabling trip with Jessica.
It was rescued from my to do list by Denise V. She took it and pieced it for me. ( see somebody does understand me LOL)
I found the PERFECT backing
and quilted it up.
And ta da..... done!!

Design Wall Monday
Oh Ya'll I am so excited - I did some sewing and I finished something - sort of - and Oh man - who ever's husband pick on them for having too much stash - let them know this is SO much cheaper than therapy!!!
The Quilt I have been working on is a sort of Memory Quilt. A lot of you know we lost our Girls a little over a month ago. So I pulled fabrics that reminded me of them and all the fun crazy things they did, and started a memory quilt. I will give it to A when it is all complete, as in quilted and ....sit down...... bound!!!
Working on this thing was so cathartic to me, I could remember thing, and events, and conversations and it made me happy. I will still miss them, but this was good for me.... anyways - want to see it?
And the other good news is - I will have a change in my stash report next week, cuz I forgot to report this as I was cutting it. See how theraputic this was - I forgot lots of things ;-)
Oh ya - and even though I showed you all - this is a surprise for the reciepient - so if you see him - Mums the word!!! - Okay? Okay!!

This one is big, cuz I wanted the center of each star to be 5 inches.... so I did all my measurements off of that. And that is why it is taking my WHOLE floor LOL

Sunday Stash Report
My Stash has not changed ... kind of..... I bought a quilt kit at a show, but I have already cut into the kit- so its a wash ... right?
But.... on the good news side - I think I am getting my quilty back..... it has kind of been missing, due to full schedules and lack of inititive to get to the machine, But I am excited - I will even have a design wall tomorrow! Things are looking up!
Stash report:
Total Fabric Used YTD: 316.84 yards
Fabric in this week: 0
Total Fabric in YRTD: 207.29Yards
Fabric in this week: 0
Total Fabrics Busted: -109.54 yards
I am going to assume that my numbers aren't going to change much this next month - as I have 3 quilts in process, and have recieved a lot of Quilt of Valor tops that need to be quilted. So wish me luck that I can get as many of those quilted as possible.
