The rest of the WWII Quilts

All of these wondeful quilts were made for our WWII Honor Flight Veterans! They come from Brighton MI , sent to me by Ann M, and quilted by Mavis S.

I like that the quilting was different on each quilt. And it really makes the ones that look alike - different!

WWII Honor Flight Quilts

The goal HAS been met!! ( the rest of the quilts will be shown in tomorrows post!)

I am WAY excited, and these are such gorgeous quilts. The WWII Veterans will be SUPER excited, and so grateful to recieve these. I believe that it is a surprise to them!

The first quilt today is from Kim in Colorado. Beautiful and soft!!

The next two were made by Sue S in Colorado. I call her Sister Sue - because her sister is in my guild and I like saying that to her. Some day I will meet Sue, and tease her that she is my sister vicariously. ( I don't have sisters - so I need a few!) Thanks Sue!!

This one is Bari over at http://crossroadsquilts.wordpress.com/

The blocks were made by Various quilters in her group, and she put it together and quilted it. All of the makers even signed the label on the back.

This lovely quilt to the left was made by April W. She has quilted some of the Quilts of Valor for me, and made some as well. This one is just wonderful!! Thanks April!!

The next five quilts came from New York, via a road trip to Arizona, Colorado , Illinois and back. They have traveled quite a distance to get here!! Jackie D from New York brought them out as she and her husband were mountain biking and traveling across the US. It worked out for her to meet me on Friday. Such a great person!!

More Warrior Games Quilts of Valor

Did you ever look at your to do list and go - ugh! I want to DO it all, I just need more time? That was my day today. But the good thing is I did get to the best part- blogging about the wonderful Quilts of Valor for the Warrior Games.

The one on the left came from Wendy M in Painesville OH. I LOVE it!!

You may notice that some groups and peoples names are showing up in one or more posts. That is because I have unloaded boxes in a pile, and just grab the first box to start photographing. If they have sent quilts in more than one box.... they may not be right next to each other in line.

That makes sense right?



`So the Turning Twenty and the one right after it both came from Betty S in Lufkin TX. They are wonderful!!!

There is a wonderful group of Colorado ladies over on the western side of the state. They are the Chaffee CO Quilters in Buena Vista.

A long time ago when I was just getting started quilting for Quilts of Valor, quite a few of the tops I started with came from this group.

Thru those quilts I met Linda L - and I tell ya, the lady has no "stop" to her!!! She and her group do a wonderful job,

Quilters Accountability Week #13

Week 13 - Really??? Nu'uh - it seems like the New Year just started!!!

My week was a little crazy but it totally keeps me out of trouble!
`
First - I only got 1 Quilt of Valor quilted. It is of the wonky log cabin practice blocks that the 5th graders used to figure out how the machine work. We have a special WWII Vet that we will be giving this to at the school.

`


Julia - who does Quilts of Valor in our Neighboring state of Nebraska - where most of my dirt now lives, is doing a block drive for some signature QOV blocks. So I had to try to see if I could make some. I got 4 made - not a lot , but 4 less she will have to worry about!
`










One of my goals was to finish Step 5 - Still NOT done, but at least I have FINALLY Finished part A of it!!! I am calling that progress!

We Also did a little bit of Easter Egg Dying, which I realize has nothing to do with quilts - but it was fun, and messy, and fun!

`

And I just had to show you the stack of boxes from just 2 days ( Tues and Wed) and I have opened A LOT of them!!! You may not believe this - but there is a chair hidden behind that stack. Is that not Cool!!!

`

My guys that I work with at Ft Carson called and asked me if I knew about these games, and who should they contact to see if we could get a Quilt of Valor to each of these Wounded Warriors. I was PROUD to say Quilts of Valor is already on it.... So very very cool!
`

So that is My Quilters Accountability in a nutshell this week. I guess I can't tell you if I succeeded in meeting my goals or not, but I have had fun. And tonite - to me that is all that matters!

Florida, Texas , and Ohio

I bet you are wondering what those three thing in the title have in common right? Well they are the states that these awesome quilts come from.

The first 5 quilts on the left are the last of the quilts that have come from the Indian Creek Quilters in Florida. I tell ya - this is one busy group!!
`



I am thinking that this star one is a Buggy Barn pattern, only because I quilted one very similar for a customer, and that is the pattern she told me it was. I also think there is a similar star pattern on Quiltville. com ... anyone know for sure?

This one I know!! It is a rail fence - beautiful!!






Oops - I guess one got on the right - this log cabin quilt also comes from the Indian Creek Quilters.










The next 3 quilts come from Texas!! I love Texas.... This first one comes from Ricky in Tyler Tx. A guy I went to college with was from Tyler Tx. His dad had a ranch there and brought us T-shirts.... hmm wonder where that T Shirt is? Anywayss - I really like this quilt. The blue fabric has swirlys in it and it is REALLY cool! Thanks Ricky!

These next two were made by Gail in Yorktown TX. Now she says these are her first quilts. I did not clarify if they were her first quilts EVER, or her First Quilts of Valor. Either way - what a wonderful gift!!

And last - but Certianly not least - the quilt from Ohio - it is from Wendy in Painesville. I think the border really adds character to this quilt! Thanks Wendy!!




So thats it for tonite. My Car is healed, now I just need to go pay for it - it was a fuel pump. At least I wasn't out of gas, that is always my first worry!

More 5th grade Quilts of Valor

These are more Quilts of Valor from the 5th grade - and of course I forgot the names to these. The quilt above was made by Group 2.

I have to tell you about my afternoon! The Quilts for the Warrior Games are really coming in now (that is a hint to keep checking the blog). So before swim practice I stopped at the post office, and there were so many packages that I filled the trunk and a seat in the car. The boys occupied the other seats.

`

So we drove into the next town, dropped one child off at his swim practice. Went the the recycle center, dropped off all the empty boxes. Reloaded my trunk so all the packages except one fit in there, headed to the bank, talked with my banker friend, got in the car to take the other 2 boys to there swim practice ( in yet another town)

`

And.... the car went Burble burble burble Floop.... and Died.

`

Called the Tow Truck, Called the Mechanic, Called the Hubby.

He drives a small economy car - I drive a Crn Vic - like the size that you could put 2 people in the trunk. I wondered how all the packages, the children, the swim backpacks and myself would fit in his small car.

`

Surprisingly we got ALL of the packages minus one in his trunk. He took the kids to the other swim practice, I waited for the tow truck.

`

He picked up the oldest child, picked up me, headed back to the other town, picked up the other 2 children, and he bought us Taco Bell for dinner.

`

I think I might keep him!
`

My oldest son ( who thinks he will be able to drive soon) thinks that this is a great reason to get a Camero, or S2000, or some other kind of sports car.

`

He might be sad that the repair bill might possibly be less than a new car. Shall I disappoint him now or later? (giggle)

`
