Dakota Inspired ... through Canada!!!

I got an email that said - I followed your Mystery Quilt Dakota Inspired and I have it finished - I will be traveling through Loveland and I think you aren't too far from there. Could I deliver it?

And I said YES!!! lets meet in town and get ice cream - because - as you know!

There is nothing better than Meeting Quilters, Quilts, and ICE CREAM!!

Kathy and her Husband Dave made the trek to Kersey Pizza and it was so much fun!!

Although. I am not sure Dave is going to let me hang out with Kathy again..

He said - gosh she starts so many projects - to which I said - yes - that is what artists do...let her go.

And he promptly laughed and I think swore me off forever hahahaha!!!

Seriously - two of the nicest people ever!! It was a great time ( for me, she doesn't blog ( yet)  so we won't get to know what she thought )

The actual Quilt delivery!! Note the water on the ground - just as I was headed to meet her the skies opened up and even with my drive to down - I was still drenched when I arrived. Just opening my gates soaked me clear through - it was quite hilarious!

The quilting!! Kathy is also a Longarmer!!! LOOooooove it!!!!

and check out that back - K says - you need some of that fabric - its Cool!!!

I had so much fun talking with them , and learning about Kathy's Quilting Journey. She makes a lot of quilts for donations - and I think that is so cool! She also might have gone on a fabric buying journey here in the states - I loved seeing her car all full!!!  Super good things will come out of it!!

Shameless plug -

Second Shameless plug

One of our Colorado QOV groups is going to do an event with Women Marines - and they need a dew more Quilts of Valor - if you are interested in helping them out let me know !

Dakota Inspired - My Finish!! and.... Finished ( or Not) Friday!!!!

I just hope this was a Stitchy Quilty week for you all!!! We had snow!!! and I will tell you, I must have checked out from the news, because that was a surprise to me!  A good surprise... I like snow... but still...

All right!! Dakota Inspired is now a *finished* Mystery!!!  and here is mine!!

( if you haven't downloaded the latest clue, avert your eyes!!)

Ta-Da!!!  My Finished ( yes un bound!) Dakota Inspired!!!  I think this was a fun one, but I have been sworn to produce a Mystery with not as many half squares - okay they really said no half squares... but I am not sure that is possible... so my brain is off to ponder another quilt design.

And you can tell - I took this photo before the snow.  I actually took it when Little Bit was home and willing to hold quilts... Thank goodness for kids! Middle Bit came over for a Whole Day!! and he helped me rearrange my fabrics and sewing room and I loved it!! I have some space!!

Now it is your turn - Link up your finishes!

Medium Blue ( should be lighter than the Navy and the Red  1 1/4 yard

White – a Light that Highlights the darks -                        2  1/2 yard

Mystery A 12 - Dakota Inspired - Announcement

 Mystery A12

 is in the finishing stages.....

originally I was going to post Fabric requirements in January and start mid February - but since National Sew Day is February 6th....

And a TON of us are stitching someplace, or virtually.....

I am now thinking that I will post Fabric requirements on Wednesday February 17th
The first Clue will be March 3rd - so that gives you two weeks to get your fabrics together!!

I'll give you a few hints:

  • It will be a 4 color quilt....
  • It will finish in the 60 ish x 80ish range
  • The clues will be manageable for a max sewing time of 2 hours each week.  ( And that is MAX - none of them actually take that long)
  • You do not need any specialty rulers - a straight edge is enough.
I design these quilts to be used as Quilts of Valor .  I know that not all of you do QOV, and donate them to another Military outreach. That is awesome. But if you are making them for your own personal use - would you consider making two and giving one as a Quilt of Valor?

Now!! If you don't have all the clues to A11 downloaded - please do - I will be removing that tab at the top of the blog and replacing it with A12....   Gotta stay organized you know?

( I know - who am I kidding - I am creative not organized... haha)
