DWM and CVCU

I feel like the military - acronyms for everything!!

DWM - Design Wall Monday:  My design wall hasn't changed all that much! There are a few things that are sewn together now, so that means some decisions were made.... right?

I am not 100% sure where I am going to end up with this one, but I am proud to say.... I have made a TINY dent in some of my scraps!  ( please note I said small dent!)

We did however.... go someplace!

CVCU:  Combat Veterans Cowboy Up!

CVCU is one of my favorite places! They are an Equine Assisted Therapy program for our Combat Veterans. It is a fantastic programs filled with the best people! This weekend was a fundraiser at 4 mile Historic Park in Denver.  Wrangler Man and the boys and I headed out!

He really wears that hat well doesn't he?!

We took a little tour around the park. It is gorgeous there. This was the last stage stop 4 miles out of Denver - so it is very historical.

Little Bit thought he needed some ice cream

They checked out the corral's - and we so excited they were not on the chore list for the day!

Middle Bit was glad that this was not the only mode of transportation available.
He sort of likes his truck!!
Hope you all had a great weekend!!

All the way to the Finish

This Quilt has made it's way to a Forever Home.

There is a Healing place here in Colorado called Combat Veterans Cowboy Up - CVCU for short.... or for me - Cowboy Up....

It is seriously an amazing place, and A LOT of healing from the wounds of war happen here.

Recently on a cold snowy day, one that made most wimpy people stay inside.... this wimpy  person and her family headed out to "Hang out with the Guys and Girls" and we all froze. But it was SO pretty.

We try really really hard to make sure each and every one of these Veterans know that we care for them - and of course - the way I like best - is with a Quilt of Valor....

Can you guess how you will know it is cold?  We stood outside of the barn - cuz we were cooking steaks in the barn... and you can NOT get in the way of a steak dinner (grin) ..... okay - really the light was better.
He LOVED snuggling up in his quilt, I loved it too - it was much warmer that way!!

You might remember this quilt? We did a block drive here on the blog, using Bonnie Hunters Scrappy Trips pattern ( with her permission)  and then we put the tops together at a sew day.

I actually quilted it... and... sit down for this one... are you ready......   I *bound* it.... I did - truly... and I did not go into anaphylactic shock... although I did require a lot of chocolate.

The best part - we all warmed up by the fire.... after the kids had snowball fights!!

Combat Veterans Cowboy Up is a total Non profit 501(c)3 that serves our Veterans. They currently house 20 horses all used for therapy, and are funded through donations and help s good hearted people.

If you would like to donate to this you can do so through Paypal or sending a check. It is tax - deductible.
http://combatveteranscowboyup.org has a *donate now* button at the bottom of the page. And seriously folks - every $5 helps.  ( can you imagine the feed bills for 20 horses?  I have half that many and its crazy!!)

CVCU

Today is not a design wall for me, Somehow the weekend got away with out any piecing. I did work on a customer quilt - and can't wait to show you that when I am finished!!

My kiddos all wanted to go see the Lorax movie - so Friday night we ventured into town... holy cow - LOTS of people go out on Friday Nights... I must have been hiding out here!

We saw the Lorax in 3D - Middle bit didn't want his picture taken... but I found other volunteers

Aren't they cool!!!   I loved the 3D glasses look - priceless!

Sunday I spent the day at Combat Veterans Cowboy Up!! Go check out their website - I'll wait - http://combatveteranscowboyup.org   .I have been there before, but I so love it each time I go. They have 2 new colts on the ground and a LOT of work to be done...

John ( the owner) was talking about how a bit ago they were out of hay and all of a sudden these $5 donations came in, and there was enough to buy hay to get thru a week - which was a GodSend for them....  Do you all remember that - that was US!!! Many of us gave up our McD or starbucks run and donated it to him!!! How awesome are we!!

I think I am going to do that again. I think that I will pack the boys dinner and donated that McD money to him for more hay or whatever he needs. We have dog training tonite and usually do the drive thru ahead of time.... not tonight!!

Hope you all have a great day - and for cool design walls head over to http://www.patchworktimes.com   I'll have something sewn for next week ( maybe) LOL

Fun in the Sun ( and a little bit of wind)

There is an awesome outfit called Combat Veterans Cowboy Up ( dot org) that is doing wonderful work helping to Heal our veterans, one soldier at a time.

My family and I headed over to see what we could do to help out. We know that running a ranch is a lot of hard work, and a lot of grunt work, So we volunteered to be grunts. There are always fences to tighten, junk to pick up , gate latches to fix. And we are all pretty well trained to do this type of work!

This ranch is just a wonderful place - it is in a beautiful setting. They have 21 horses that they do this Equine Assisted Physchotherapy with. They are amazing horses. We were kind of teasing - cuz my numbers of horses can be right up there with Johns' ( the founder of CVCU).... and mine aren't working as hard for their keep in the winter!!

Anyways - I wanted to share some photos with you about this place - cuz its cool, and I thought you might like to see them. I know I talk about quilts ALL the time - but there is more to us (grin)
First - this guy is not a Vet. - he is my itty bitty sweet bumpkin who fell in love with the Mini Horses. These horses are just the ranch mascots - but they are hilarious. They each have their own personalities. One of them decided he was done with humans and walked right thru the fence and hid behind the round corral! It was too funny!

See the barn in the background. Just built! Whoo hoo - they will have some shelter for the winter.

They do a lot of ground work with both the horses and the therapists.

This guy - awesome guy - has been through the program and has done marvelously. After he went through the ground therapy program, he came back to learn to ride.
( A guy after my own heart LOL)

She looks awesome doesn't she?

The Wrangler Store, one block west of Park Meadows Mall in Highland Ranch Colorado is helping to sponsor CVCU. They have a line of clothing call Patriot Products. For every item that you buy from this store, on that list - $10 goes to CVCU.

So if you are in need of Wrangler products and live near this store - GO!!

I think you could probably call them as well

Just so you know - if you are one of my family members.... You know what coming your way for Christmas *grin* .

If you want to learn more about the ranch you can go to

Hope you enjoyed seeing the pictures.
