Quilt Briefs

Do you read the blog Stitch and Yarn?  Somehow I cam across it and she has a Design Brief idea, and I thought - well this sounds kind of fun!!!

Design Brief Idea

Her idea was to use the Pantone Color of the year - which I can tell you I do not care for. But I pulled up my Graph Paper, and then moved into EQ and came up with a design, that used all the elements that she briefed us on:

Oh - and I used Red - its close to the color of the year..... but seeing Red always makes me think..
QOV - and so....
I started adding Blue... and brought the size up a bit...

And Ta da!!! I looks more Patriotic here... haha!!!

That was a fun challenge - I have no idea if I will ever make this quilt - but that was a fun way to get the juices going...

And I just saw Design Brief Number 2:

Oh dear - this design brief idea is one that I need to follow through on, too. DH bought me EQ8 for Christmas so this is a great way to make myself get into it and learn how to use it! Thanks for sharing (and your design is AWESOME!)

Thanks for sharing Tara's website. Now you've got me going down a whole new rabbit hole in design.... Thanks goodness for EQ8 to play in!
Your RWB version is awesome, but I really like your red and white version, too.

Design constraints are a necessity for me. It's fun when someone else sets the parameters to see what works and what doesn't I love your QOV final design; it's so perfectly you!

This is a fun design, Alycia. It's definitely a keeper. I like the varied blocks. I tend to avoid quilts that are made of all one block.

That is a good design for a patriotic quilt. I will look up the challenge.

Oooh it can't be a mystery (and yes, I'm still slowly working on the last one), but it would make a great QOV QAL!
