Joshua Tree in Black and White

We had the chance to head out to Joshua Tree National Park - and I will be honest - even in Fall... it was HOT!!!  But just gorgeous!!

This time we went in the entrance in 29 Palms - and they had a place you could tour about the history of the Desert. That story will be for later - but! I just wanted you to know those were palm trees ( above)

This ecosystem is so cool and diverse... it is where two deserts come together - the Mojave and the Colorado.

The Joshua tree's leaves were worked in to baskets and sandals by natives, and the seeds can be roasted.
( I thought that was interesting - that they are more than just beautiful)

There are many hikes to take in the park. Some lead into the others, and some are short . ours was about 3 miles... and we started early. The temps still got into the 90's and I wilt at 70...

The landscape is just so rugged, and dry. To me, it is amazing that anything really can grow here.

But the Views are incredible.

And watching the sunsets roll in in Amazing!!

Okay  - One Color photo - and then I will have to make another post with my Color shots:
