Pink Placemats

I had a little stack of Pink placemats and as I was looking at them I really decided they needed Pink stripe binding....  which I don't have......

So I hopped online to my local quilt shop (Sew Downtown) and they had pink stripe fabric - I knew that the postal service would make it to me faster than I would get to town.... so I got mail!!

I might have ordered a Blue stripe too... I mean we will get to blue in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge sometime right?? I am just being pre prepared!  The fabric came wrapped in this old pattern paper and I died laughing when I opened it!

When my Grandma passed - I got ALL of her old patterns and I swear this one was in there - and my Dad and Uncles names and measurements were written on it.... I remember one of the men wearing the garment on the far right.... in denim  ;-)  hahaha!!

Anyways.... I bound.......

And I didn't die.... so I kept binding........

And now I have 5 of them completely done....

I have one more quilted.... but I haven't bound it yet. I had to meet clients to return and pick up quilts.. and you know...I am not good and binding and driving..... yet!

Striped binding is so much fun! Congratulations on your pink progress. Such a great way to use up all your pinks. I'm sure that blue will come out to play at some point.

New, retro banner, eh? The placemats look fun. I can't bear eating on quilted pieces because all I can think of is staining them after all that work.

those are nice looking. I have some old fabric too but I don't think any of it is older than 25 years but most is much newer 10+ lol

Such pretty pink placemats and the striped binding is the perfect touch! What a hoot to find the old pattern pages wrapped around your fabric. It's even funnier to recognize the garment on the pattern! Those were the days when a pattern price was less than $2. I've got many of them. Maybe I need to start using them as wrapping paper!

I love the use of the old pattern sheet to wrap the package. I'm glad you got your family quickly. I have a couple of backing fabrics that have been in the postal system for a week. Ok, it's more like 3/4 of a week as it took several days to move from the store to the Post Office. Maybe it will show up Monday. My fingers are crossed. I love your candy pink stripes. It looks really good on your pink placemats.

I think the stripes really finish these nicely. I've been making placemats for our new kitchen table but pink is not a good choice. I'll have to remember pinwheels for another month in RSC.

What great fabric you chose for your pink binding. Not surprised you ordered some in blue too! Could you please let me know what this fabric is called, I always love using stripes for bindings and there’s a hole in my stash that needs filling! Love your set of placemats, they are very chic.

The pink stripe is the perfect binding for those placements. Love the idea of using an old pattern for packing fabric. I don't have any men's patterns (well maybe an old Ken doll one is still in the stash).

Love the pink binding. The placemats look lovely with it. As for the blue....fabric cannot travel alone! 😉
