Tales from the Pig

Once upon a time I lived in a pen with 8 other little pigs. We were small and white. I was then told that I was to go to a new home - the home of a boy who was participating in the Catch It Pig program through 4-H.

I was scheduled to be picked up on a Wednesday. I really hoped my new owner had a warm place for me.

Especially since the night before my move, a spring blizzard moved in. Although it was fore-casted to snow south of us, someone forgot to tell mother nature, and we had feet!! of snow!!!

I met my new owner on Wednesday afternoon. All the people around him called him Little Bit. I don't think that is what I will call my new owner. And since I weigh almost as much as him - I will totally outrank him!

His new name shall be Farmer Boy!!  Farmer Boy made me a wonderful pen, and a nice corral, there were lots of big animals around, I would have friends..... I was excited.. but wait!!! What was all that white stuff in that pen?

And why were we backing up toward that big brown monstrosity???  Oh my - there is even white stuff there!

As we backed towards this thing - I saw kennels- yes, people - I - The Pig - do know what a dog kennel is - I was totally NOT going in there!!!

When Farmer Boy opened my door, I was shocked at the cold. It was much colder here than at my previous house. I wondered if he knew that pigs like to be about 60 degrees?  He should know this...right???

Farmer Boy soon realized that he would need help. I weighed in at 78 pounds... I think he might weigh in at 80 - on a good day. Could you imagine him carrying me? They could have let me walk - but seeing as how I didn't know where I was going, they probably made a good decision.

Farmer Boy and his dad took me into this place - kind of looked like a tool shed.... maybe if someone put all there stuff away a car could fit in here.... wonder what humans call those?  Anyways - Look!! a box!! with a nice warm heat lamp, and sawdust, and oh man!!! I am gonna love it here.....

I wonder if they know that pigs like to burrow, and root around... and there is all sorts of cool stuff I could get into........

You know, I believe a couple of bunnies would get along well with Mr. Pig and Farmer Blue Jeans. The good news is you won't need to bring the big trailer to pick them up. LOL
