Quilters Accountability Week 6

Meals: First off - I learned to make sushi, and it was edible! And they ate all of it!! My youngest son came home from school and said we had to make sushi and we needed sticky rice. That's all he knew. He had asked his teacher for the recipe and she told him it was a family secret. So we hit the internet searching, and then searched the grocery store... and Sushi!! We even added this to one of our weekly menus for the future.

Strings: I have *surprisingly* been getting in my 15 minutes a day. I haven't made any more complete blocks, but I have put together a quilt top. I normally don't show tops till they are quilted. ( It makes me feel happy) but since this is QA week in review I wanted to prove that I wasn't just laying around eating bon bons! *giggle*

`

Some of the star blocks came from the Houston show QOV booth. They were signed by attendees. The string blocks have all been signed as well at the quilt shows that I attended.

~
I even got in some sewing time on Clue 5 of the Mystery quilt. I haven't done enough to show any progress - but there is a pile growing on the ironing board!!
`
Exercise: Okay - you should sit down for this.... I started a new program, of course I have only done one day of it, but I am mixing it in with the other exercise things I am liking to do. It is called the "Couch to 5K running" program. Can you imagine *me* running. ( ok - get back up off the ground) I made it the full 20 minute program of day 1. Tomorrow is Day 2. I may seriously be on the couch eating bon bons after it......
`
Monday was a holiday - even for Wrangler Man. We all headed out to the Wildlife Sanctuary. I had never been there, but it is a rescue operation for Tiger, Lions, Bears, Wolves, and even a Camel. It was awesome.
`
If any of you come visit me in Colorado and want to go see it - I know how to get there!
http://www.wildlife-conservation.com/ This is the website that tells all about it. They rescue animals from all over the US, and are the largest sanctuary in America.
`
I do not want a Tiger to live at my house, but they looked SO friendly laying around!

I agree, I am glad you all like sushi! And that you made it at home, that is awesome!

I love that string quilt. Talk about GORGEOUS! That will be one that some soldier will surely cherish....

The wildlife sanctuary looks like it was very interesting...I agree with Sherrill though, that last tiger is "a toad" to use a popular expression around here! Isn't it fun to do stuff like that as a family?

When we come out to Colorado, we would love to visit there with you!

It looks great -- I like the combination of string blocks and the friendship stars with the center star.

I love the way you put the strings and the hearts together. Very creative. I've used some birthday blocks I got and added them together to make a quilt--actually I got two as there were two distinct colorways when I got the blocks back. They're both at the quilter's now. Can't wait to get them back.

Strings add so much variety to a quilt--I love them and love all that you do too.

Sushi--not that brave. I got some once thinking it was something else and boy was I surprised. Now, California rolls--that's a whole 'nother story. I love them and the spicy ginger with them!

I did couch to 5K and if I can run then anyone can. Can't wait to hear how you are doing.

Alycia, you can definitely do couch to 5K. I did it at age 43, and lived to tell (and I'm still running several years later). Don't worry about how fast or slow you are, and don't be afraid to repeat a week or two if you need to (I sure did!).
