As you have probably noticed - I LOVE bright Colors!  When I pulled these fabrics from my stash I wanted to focus on each of them - and so I designed this Quilt Pattern.

I had a great time quilting it - with all the open spaces you can really have some fun with it. The back is actually polka dots - but it makes it easy to see the quilting:

 I love having tall sons too - they can sure help me out when taking Quilt Pictures ;-)

Quilts of Valor 2014

Last week was a busy week ( or was it this week?) for presenting Quilts of Valor in Colorado. The awesome Pat R, and Fabulous Laura F, and Amazing Liz TD did some individual presentations. We will get pictures of those to you soon......

and Teresa and I were on post in the Battalion - I hope you can see your quilts here - claim them if you do... I thought I was taking great shots of the quilts... but I think I got distracted by the smiles. Making these folks happy gets me every time ;-)

and I hope your heart is Happy too!!!   Thank you all for your help in honoring our Soldiers on post! you all made this a great Valentines day.... more pics to come ... Promise!!

Oh Boy....

Have I got projects goin' on.....

We spent Saturday at a Memorial Service of one of the Great Cowboys in Wyoming. Our drive was a little scary at times. The wind and the ground blizzards were more than we expected, but the Memorial was so amazing. Wrangler Man and his family all knew this man, stock contracted with him, rodeoed  with him, and were coached by him. It was a great service, and packed.

Sunday - I was motivated. Motivated to cut stuff apparently - my design wall itself is empty - but that's cuz its all over my cutting board:

it has FOUR!!! Count em - FOUR projects on them - and that does not include the backing I am finishing for another quilt. I just have to add borders to it ...

I need a longer weekend... maybe I can finish something up!

Then we got a call in the afternoon - our friends raise pigs - and Farmer Boy is ready to raise another one. Their Mama pig had piglets = OH MY GOSH - they are SO cute. She let us see them, and hold one, and pet them... and I want to make them my own!

Eye Boggle

My son has named this quilt Eye Boggle.... he says it is bright and boggles his eyes... Makes sense to me.

But I LOVE it - ! I love bright colors, and this one has them all!

 I got very brave - taking this photo... it was -9 outside. But oh so sunny! I wanted to take advantage of the light!

And I tried to make sure I didn't step in the front snow - to make it look pretty - I forgot about the deck behind it... oh well.

And of course - laying on the back of the couch.

2014 Quilts of Valor

Good afternoon!! I hope you all are staying warm!! Check out these awesome Quilts of Valor that will be keeping our Veterans warm and hugged real soon.....

Ready ... Set... Go!

This first quilt was pieced bu Jeannie S and Quilted by Liz Taylor Davis.  A lot of us fell in LOVE with this one are our sew day. The quilting just made this quilt pop!!

Here is another one from our Scrappy Trips Block Drive - Mary M pieced it, and Liz quilted it

 This twister quilt was pieced by Connie and Kathy and also Quilted by Liz.  These are cool quilts!

The one on the Left and the Right were block drive quilts pieced by Mary, and the one in the center was Pieced by Jeannie S.... all three were quilted by Liz .... she is wonder woman!

Gail N and the Amelia Island Quilt Guild pieced and quilted these.

This quilt... its cool. There are no curved pieces... we all checked - but wow - what an effect!

                    Sally T in VA made it - the WHOLE thing.

This quilt was made by Sharon E in Greeley. She pieced and quilted it - its really pretty.

And ... the last one for today was pieced by the UN softball team, I forgot to check my lable - but I am pretty sure that Liz quilted it too...

My Story

Today started earlier than most days - I was up and running a 5 am... not up and dragging. I got chores done, kids moving, dogs fed... AND I got dressed up. I was going to be a judge at the Regional FBLA competition - and we had to 'business dress" too.

If you haven't heard or gotten involved in your local High Schools FBLA- do it! They are awesome kids, and they want to learn from you...

I came out to the front room and one of my children said - We need to take a picture to prove you can dress up. *sigh*  But off we went - it was snowing and icy and I needed extra time to get them to school, and then get to the competition.

I had a great time judging, and then headed back. The roads were worse, and the wind was blowing..... and I got to our road - and I gunned it the Whole way. The wind had blown over the road in spots and in spots was Waaaay deep.

Of course, that panicked me a little bit, so I came in - changed into farm clothes and took the dogs out. Then I fed... every animal goes into starvation mode I believe. And I determined that I should probably take a vehicle down the road and leave it, just in case we get more snow.

By the time I got the truck warmed up and ready to go - the tracks from me coming up the road - were blown over..... So I parked the truck , walked up to the house, and texted my tractor friend.

 My tractor friend came and plowed our road, so I could take my car(an SUV - so still 4wd)  to go pick the kids up....

and then we came home - and I realized - I never took a picture of me all dressed up... so you will just have to take my word - that I can do it.  Earrings, dress shoes and all..... *sigh*

Off to sit by the fireplace and read my new book - Fallen Women from Sandra Dallas...I LOVE Sandra Dallas!

Blue Scrappy Saturday #5

Well - technically for me it is #4 blue - but it is the 5th Saturday. I missed posting last week, as Kevin H was here and we were busy prepping for my Quilt of Valor Sew day. I think he is hired!

Here is my final Scrappy Blue Saturday choice. I knew I wanted to do one block that would coordinate into a whole quilt at the end of the Rainbow Scrap challenge, but I am so block challenged myself. I want to make THEM ALL!!    Without further ado:

My RSC block!

I used a small Black on White print for the solids - I hope I like it ;-)

Then... I was inspired - 

My string box was just overflowing.

I bribed Little Bit and he sorted them by color

Now...

Ta da!!!

I have them all organized and sorted into Ziploc bags..

However!

None of them were pink.... for February's color.

I must go dig... I KNOW I have pink scraps
