QOV Online Show

I might have mentioned that I went and spoke to the Columbine Quilt Guild?  I didn't put anyone to sleep!!!  They are a great guild, and this year ( 2012) they made 7 Quilts of Valor.

Ta Da!!! Here they are!!! They were made by various individuals and groups - but all of them say Columbine Quilt guild.

As with all quilts - I am in Love with them. I got some great ideas for my scrap pieces....

I really was intrigued with this one ( above) the strings are cool and in a great placement.
Check out the quilting ( below)

Thank you to the Columbine Quilt Guild in Colorado

Oh Look!!
A Smile!!!  Don't you just love it!!! I do!!!!

This next quilt was made by Sue S and quilted by Donna P ( LtC USAF ret)
of Colorado Springs

This one was handed off.... from someone... to Merrie... to Me... and there is no label. no note, no id... so... I made it in the middle of the night!! I am impressive right?  Just kidding - I am thinking that it came from someone in my Denver group????

These Next Two quilts were made the Miracles group and Quilted by Sue S in Colorado.

They do such a great job, teaching ladies to make quilts... and I just love that they help our QUilts of Valor!!

The Very last one for today was made by Agnes in New Jersey and Quilted by Teneka in Co Spgs..... Her quilting doesn't show much on the front......
But check out this back!!! Click on the pic for better detail - it is amazing!!!

Hope you enjoyed today's show!!! Have a quilty day!!

Christmas

We are a little slow in decorating around here...

But it is all coming together. Wrangler Man had to go overseas for a while, and I forgot where all the Christmas Decorations were. One year they were in the other house, one year the barn, one year the storage room, and I had no clue where he put them last year.

So I decorated my way! I put the Christmas Table cloth on... and brought out the quilts!!

Any one recognize that one ( above?) I think it is the first mystery that Bonnie did on her Quiltville Chat list!

And this one is a snuggle quilt that the kids bought me!
We love it.

Wrangler Man made it home Saturday, and we immediately dragged him out to go ice skating. Then we made him find our Christmas stuff, and then the big son drug him out to go Elk Hunting.
All the time I am here, doing chores, doing laundry, working. so. very. hard..... do you have any sympathy for me yet?  None?  Well then, how about this? I even had to go to a Pig Meeting!!

Little Bit is going to raise a pig thru 4H next year ( remember way back When ?)  Well, now the Catch it program has started. It is a class act. They had a vet come talk to us, and we met with out sponsors, and the Pig Leader. Thank GOODNESS!! She is amazing.

As I asked what sort of tools one might need for pig showing, she said "Call me when your ready and I will go shopping with you." Seriously... I am impressed!!

So - now do you have sympathy?  alright - then... just know that while you are reading this with your warm cup of coffee... I have slugged on Coverall, boots, gloves and a hat, and am probably soooo cold.... nothing? Alright you are hard to break *tee hee*

Design Wall Monday

My Connecting Threadz group had a sew in on Sunday... and I was so glad! I needed a big push to get some things done! And! It worked!!

I got the backing made for a gift quilt. And I would post it here, but I have a feeling this person checks my blog every once in a while. So you know that would probably be the day I post a picture!!

I finished a Quilt top, and the backing for this one:
I still need new light bulbs, so it's very shadowed in the picture. This is a quilt  for an auction coming up in January. Still need to quilt it!

I pulled my fabrics for a pillow project that I found in the premiere issue of Modern Quilting Unlimited. After playing with the fabrics I took the Red out. I think maybe hindsight, I should have left the red in, and taken a cream out. But I still like the results. Plus I have 4 more pillows to go, so I can vary the fabrics a little.

Here is everything all cut out. I was trying to stay organized. I am not sure that it really worked??

And... Here is my final pillow top. I just need to put the backing on it, and stuff the pillow in. That will be my today job.  ( after the pig meeting we have!)

And this little star? I Love it!!! Peggy B sent my some Quilts of Valor for our Soldiers, and tucked in the middle was this gorgeous little star. Her Husband made it!! So I immediately hung it over my ironing board. I LOVE it! It catches the light so nicely!!

A Modern QOV

Whoo Hoo - this is my 12th QOV top this year.   I decided to try a Modern Twist on it, and leave lots of Negative Space... I even have a quilting idea.... I am so excited.

It is really dark here tonite, and some of our lights burned out last night. I am too lazy to drive to town to get new bulbs, so it's sort of weird lighting tonite....

But I took 12 of the Scrappy Trip blocks and made this!!!  I even have a backing ready to go Thanks to Patty, from our Sew Day, she took a ton of fabric and made me 6 backings!!

I also want to tell you about the Quilters Christmas Party going on over at SewCalGal. So go check it out, and come back on Sunday.... for I have a story to tell ( but you knew that right?)

And If you.
WANT TO WIN A PRIZE?

Win a Door Prize by coming to the Quilter's Christmas Party on December 9th.  PR Angels are needed to help spread the word and greatly appreciated.  On December 9th SewCalGal will host the party, with a linky.  Bloggers and non-bloggers will be able to participate.  You can share insights on your favorite Christmas memory, what you are making for gifts and/or household decorations this year, tips, tutorials, just about anything you can think of that is fun and has a Christmas Party theme. And, posts that share insights about anyone in your family (or family history) that has served in the Military is also welcome! But your post needs to be dated December 9th, the party link will be open for 24 hours, and your post needs to show that you are participating in the Quilter's Christmas Party hosted by SewCalGal with a link back to the party.

Oh!!!  And I finished FINALLY the little blanket that I was working on.  I guess the delays weren't all that bad - but I really wanted it done quickly.

I tried to quilt in some things, like his football number, and words. Just some fun things

And this is the back - I think I fell in love with this fleece. I see more of it coming into my house in the future.

I will be linking up with CrazyMomQuilts.blogspot.com and Confessionsofafabricaddict.blogspot.com

Enjoy!! Hope to see you back on Sunday!!

Scraps

I love scraps, I do, really.... and I work with them constantly - I can't stand to see this yummy fabric go to waste.... and sometimes - I really do have to give some Away .... because scraps are really to share.......

You know where I am going with this right????

This is a gift that was bestowed upon me..... not 1......

Not 2.......
But THREE Huge trash bags full of scraps... and I want to play in them right now!!! I mean RIGHT. NOW.  except I have some other things to do first... like chores, client quilts, and cooking dinner for my kiddos who get hungry on a daily basis!!

December QOV Show

Happy December.... I know ... it's been a few days of December - but this is the first Quilt of Valor show in December - so I wanted to wish you a Happy one!!!

And in December Judy L's QOV Challenge comes to an end. I am so excited to see who will win, and how much fabric they can add to their stash!!!

On to Today's Quilts!!

Sister Sue S is another one of my idols!!! She is called Sister Sue, because I have adopted her, and am sure that My Mother would love to have her in the family too.... but it's really because I want to be in her family!! She has a bazillion sisters and THEY.ALL. QUILT.  Seriously - is that cool???

I don't know where Sue gets all this energy - but she brought 6 completed Quilts to our sew day. 4 of them completely hers - start to finish.....

I see so many possibilities with these blocks. I believe they are 2 1/2 inch strips. She says she just cuts them, stacks and sews.....

These two were blocks put together y Mary Jane. She passed away and her husband graciously donated her stash.... Sue put these two tops together and quilted them.

I showed you this quilt being loved on Here - 3rd soldier down  - That M&M guy was popular!!!

Drumroll Please..... this is Adele's 12th of 12 QOV's for 2012!!! Whoo Hoo - Go Adele!!!
I love it!!!

A little bit ago I showed you a quilt very similar to this one..... by Sally T. Can you believe she made another one? I am SO very impressed!!

THis is the backing of Sally's Quilt
It is from Vicki Welsh
Totally appropriate and beautiful!!
 '
This patriotic beauty came from Lynn at http://alamosaquilter.blogspot.com/ - It turned out great! She used the Double Slice Layer Cake Tutorial!!!

This Lovely Lovely QOV comes from Norece - it is her TENTH Quilt in the  12 for 12 challenge... and I know I have another one...... Good job Norece!!

Beautiful Beautiful Quilts Quilters!!! I love them all !!  Hope you found a few to inspire you!

I am glad to be inside this morning..... my kids got me these cute jammies that are Capri length... being the lazy person that I am, I roll out of bed, get into my coveralls and coat and go do chores. With these shorter jammies, there is nothing to tuck into my boots. Which was no big deal, until half way thru feeding.... I couldn't figure out why a small portion of my legs were cold.

I guess I will either have to be unlazy and put jeans on, or wear longer jammies in the winter *sigh*  . Such a conundrum......

Design wall Monday

Well - you know how they say the best laid plans?  ,...... This is one of them!!

Last week I showed you this:  and I said it would be done today... apparently ... I lied....

But I am close!! What it was (or is) is a blank sheet of fabric for kids to sign. And my son was to take it to high school and get it signed, and bring it back for me to quilt. But he locked his keys is his car the first day.... so that delayed us a day.... and then...

The backing I wanted to use ... I washed it  and I didn't like it... so I needed to go to town to get better backing.

So here it is: All signed. With a picture of the new backing... its warm yummy fleece.

And it is all pinned, ready to go on the longarm as soon as I finish the border of the quilt that is one there......
One of the kiddos, who I now look up to, but went to school with my son since kindergarten, suffered a concussion in a football game, and has had a Recovery. He is still in the hospital and will be for a few more weeks, so we thought that maybe we could offer a little more encouragement, and something snuggly for his room.....

and too show you how crazy our week has been - I just accidentally deleted a bunch of comments from the blog... I was trying to delete the spam ones.... ah bummer.... I still love you all!!!

Another Blast from the Past

little bit was so tickled to see himself in his younger days... that Middle Bit wanted in on the action.... so we found a picture of him with his Quilt. This one was not a QOV that we remember - it was a baby quilt. There was someone on post expecting, and daddy was deployed... so this went to her.

As his quilting progressed and he found my computer with EQ6 ( now 7) on it.... he also designed this quilt....Called Star Gazer

You will need to ignore the hanging sleeve laying on it - we were trying to get it ready for fair....
