The rest of the story

9:30 am found us in the parking lot getting dressed up for the parade. 2 of my children were in it - one on the quads in the marching band, and one of the football float.  The other one - sweet child - was responsible for catching candy for his brothers. He succeeded!!

Mine is a quad player - and look at those pants... are they not fitted perfectly? Another Mom and I did the hemming this year - and even got to fix a couple of jackets.... Did I ever mention how much I like to quilt???

Heres the football float - Little bit is pretending to throw candy....

And this got us to 11:30....

Still no quilting .....

Our Weekend

I think I packed a whole week of blog posts into one weekend - it was crazy. All the last minute things you really wanted to do before school starts, the town celebration, visits from family... oh boy.

First things first - 6am Saturday morning found us registering for the Platte Valley Cross Country 5K.  My oldest is running Cross Country this year and they host a 5K as a fundraiser for the team....

Do they look wide awake? Or barely Functioning?

Middle bit is running well - but he is being chase .... by a gorilla, a banana, and a rabbit.... Can you imagine the fright?  (grin)

Little bit coming downt he home stretch - he did awesome.

And then he decided he was never going to move again!!

Here comes middle bit and Wrangler Man. Such a good dad he is - to stay with his kiddos..

Remember the Rabbit? He made is thru the finish line and then went kerplop.. We laughed.

So after the run - we headed over to the firehouse for a hearty pancake breakfast. Which was good timing - all the boys were hungry!!!

Just so you know - this brought us to 9:30 am.... come back for what happened next......

The 5K

first off - let me say - I am NOT the runner......but I am the runners mom - so I can brag!!

My oldest son participated in a 5K today - and did rather well..... we had to be there at 6:30 am tho..... which means we leave here at 6am... which means we are up at 5:15am, and therefore I am now lazy!!!

While this one got ready ( above) the other one was napping ( below)

This is the team.  They did quite well, got a 2nd, 3rd and 8th, for the guys.  I was impressed and was so glad to have the camera as a great excuse not to run .....tee hee

around the place

Every once in a while I get a bug that things should look different. So 2 years ago we decided we should paint our *other house*. Its not really another house, but back in the day was attached to our mobile home.  We live in that while we saved money to build our house, and of course out grew the 780 square feet rather quickly.  Wrangler Man calls it the shed.

But I figured we could call it a barn if it was the right color. So we have kind of argued for a while ( 2 years) over what color it should be. This summer the boys and I went to buy paint - without mentioning it to Wrangler man and this is what he came home to:

Well - first - this is it - all grey like and primer colored, and weathering.....

Here we got started - I  got the job of painting around the windows first - so if there was a boo boo it was my fault!

This was the shady wall - it was done FIRST!

I loved making the kids climb up and down the ladder!
And the spots were pretty much the end of the first day.

And Ta Da.....

I think it needs a quilt block next. So we have been submitting our designs. The made at Home Depot said he could cut me a 4ft by 4ft square and we could paint it.  What kind of block do you think would look the best? I am thinking a star or spinny type block .....

Blindigo Monochromatic Challenge

Blindigo  = Indigo + Blue

So this is my Two-fer
June was Indigo - July was Blue
Ta-da

Info on the quilt:
Pattern: Designed by Cherri House
Name: City Tracks
In the Book:  City Quilts
Block Size 6 x 6
Total size of my quilt: 42 x 57

And here are two loves in my life:

Little bit and his puppy had a dog show and he did a great job. The only problem with small dogs is that they are closer to the ground, and the ground just has the most interesting smells on it, and the big dogs look more towards the judge, cuz they are farther from all the interesting smells.

But is was fun to watch him - they did great!

Design Wall Monday

Well I don't really have a design wall persay - as I have *stuff* all over the place.... the floor, the ironing board, my desk, the cutting board - its awesome!!!

These are my strips ( duh) I decided that I wanted to join in over at crazy mom Quilts and make 36 patches - so I did.

I now have 6 of them done - I think I am supposed to have more done to keep up - but Oh well.... it will keep me out of trouble!

I have all the blocks done for
and I started sewing the rows together - but forgot a pic of that.

And last but not least - I learned how to make a Wonder Wallet -   and I think I may be addicted. They are so adorable and cute - Thanks Janet for teaching us!
