Some Cool Quilts!

Nancy L in Washington has been keeping very busy!! THis beautiful Quilt of Valor came from her! And I took a picture of the back. I really like the way she pieced it!

Thanks Nancy for your hard work - this will be a well loved quilt.!

These next two quilts came from April in IA. The first is a Chunky Churndash quilt. The pattern was designed by Bonnie Hunter of Quiltville.com and she graciously let me use it as a mystery QOV on my blog.
April also made this quilt. In my mind it is the boxes pattern called Peaches and Dreams from Judy L at Patchworktimes.com . Beautiful!!!   April - you are wonderful!!
The next three quilts come from Beryl of Utah. Beryl - these are just beautiful!!! The detail on this first quilt just blew me away!! I was in awe!
This one was Judy L ( http://www.patchworktimes.com/) summer mystery quilt.
And I am guessing that this quilt was a mystery quilt from QOVmystery yahoo groups.

Beryl - Thank you so much!

I thank you all from the bottom of my heart!!!

Columbine Quilt Guild

I was invited to come to the Columbine Quilt Guild in Arvada to pick up some Quilts of Valor, and give a little speech. About 2 years ago, they decided to take on Quilts of Valor as one of their charity projects... and boy , have they done an awesome job.

This first picture shows the guild president, the  middle is Zoe Ann - she is the coordinator of the QOV Charity, and the far right is the gal who did the majority of the Long Arm Quilting. Sweet lady!!

They did a little show and tell of a few of the quilts.
Then they sent me home with 26Quilts of Valor. They had finishe 3 more, but they were going to take them home to wash, and I will get those later. These 26 are completely washed, labeled, pillowcased... wow! What a sweet Surprise!!
I will be getting photos of these quilts to show them to you, but these two in the post are already on their way to wounded soldiers....

Thanks ladies and gentlemen - you ROCK!!!

A Quilt of Valor Quilt show

here are some more awesome Quilts of Valor! Soldiers will just LOVE these too!!

This first one was made by Jessica and her *girls* in Denver. Jess sews with many sew groups and all of them help make QOV's in some way or another.

The quilt to the right is another one she and her groups made. They did a lovely job!!

This beautiful Animal Print quilt of valor came from Anna in OK. I think that I would love to justsit in her fabric stash. We all had the best time looking at this quilt and trying to identify each type of animal print! It is wonderful!!
Next - Nancy from Wyoming ( http://wyomingbreezes.blogspot.com/ ) made this lovely pinwheel quilt.  It is really cool! The blocks give the quilt a feel of movement. I love it!!
The last Quilt of Valor for today was made by Cathy O in Pueblo. Her husband is retired military and has 2 Bronze Stars and 2 Purple hearts. Very impressive. And the quilt is perfect!!

Thank you ladies for all your help in this endeavor!! The soldiers in Colorado/Wyoming are so appreciative!!

You all have a wonderful day!

Quilters Accountability 12/8/10

Probably you all already know this - but I am a day late. And I have no clue how I did that.... but about noon I realized that today is NOT Wednesday. Oh well, I think I was trying to create time ....

One of my goals last week was to get this Red Bricks top put together. Well, it is not put together, but I have about 5 rows done now. I am kind of liking it!! The pattern came from http://www.maryquilts.com/ and her pattern is called Forest Bricks.

Mine will be a Quilt of Valor when it is all done.
And this is the gift quilt that was supposed to be quilted. I totally one upped myself and BOUND it - all by my lonesome, and with 8 pieces of chocolate. All dark - by the way - so I was being healthy!!

On my list last week I had wanted to quilt another gift quilt, but it didn't happen.I am kind of stuck as to how I want to quilt it, so I just didn't.....

Tuesday Night at our guild meeting we had a silent auction - and I won two items!!  This first one now resides on my dining room table, under the vase of roses that Wrangler Man gave me, before leaving me to do ALL the chores for 3 days.

The roses were beautiful... they are starting to dry out, and I would love more, but I don't want him to leave again... its too much work *grin*

This is the second little runner I won. I put it on top of my piano, underneath my parents High school graduation pictures.
I am pretty sure I got a great deal! And they are really my style of quilts!

So - Quilters accountability for next week?

I will probably bow out, it is the last week of school, and I have a few presentations that I need to do. One of them will be at the Columbine Quilters Quilt Guild in Arvada. I am excited to meet all of them.

If you want to see what everyone else is up to, or are thinking about joining in head on over to Baris - http://crossroadsquilts.wordpress.com/

And wish me luck - tomorrow is an ice skating party that I think I knew about, but didn't realize that *I* would be ice skating.....

Quilts from Nancy

Nancy in Fort Collins quilts with a group of ladies every week, and they have made quite a few quilts to donate to Quilts of Valor. I am SO appreciative of their efforts!!

These are the ten that Wrangler Man picked up for me. And yes, I am keeping him!

I Love these quilts! The colors and the designs are perfect.

Nancy - Thank you and your quilters for all of your hard work!!! These will be defineatly loved!

I still have not figured out how to move pictures around in these posts. You would think that I could figure something as simple as that out, but somehow I end up deleting them!

So I hope you kept going to the end, to see all of these wonderful quilts!

Hope you all have a great evening!

A New Member in the family

Last week a new member of our family came to live with us. Her name is Emma, and she is trying to help balance out the hormone levels for me!

I am not sure that she and I are a match for the 4 men and boy dog we have, but we are certainly trying!

Today we decided to take her pheasant hunting. It was the first time I worked her all by myself, and we flushed up one bird, but it didn't fly high enough.

We didn't work too long, as we had to wait till school was over. There is not much light left after 3pm. My oldest son was laughing, he said that most moms ask their kids if their homework is done, but his mom asks if he has his longjohns on....and then loads everyone in the pickup!

Priorities right?

She is really fun, and joining in the family quite well!

It is quiet around here right now - the brush was pretty tall, and it took a lot of energy to keep walking. So we are all bushed.... ( love it!)

Hope you all are having a great evening!

Judy V in Broomfield

Judy is another prolific quilter. There is not a piece of fabric that is safe around that girl!! She sees quilts out of everything!  I had her Grandson in our QOV quilting 2 years ago. great kid!!

Judy gave some quilts to her daughter for me to pick up, and lucky me, her daughter was willing to let me see all the quilts Judy had made for the daughters house. It was awesome!!! Judy is very talented.

Here are 4 more Quilts of Valor that she has made to contribute to our warriors!!! Thanks so much Judy!! I know these will be appreciated!

Enjoy!!

Linda Sue in Denver

Every once in a while they let me off the ranch to go to the big town... of Denver. The last time I headed down that way I met up with a very prolific quilter - Linda Sue. We had to meet outside the Tokyo Joes, because I bribed my kids to go with me....

She had said she had a Quilt of Valor or two for me, and she actually had 6!!! Apparently she quilts more than she thinks she does!!!

Here they are!

Thank you Linda!! it was great to meet you! These quilts are awesome!!
Enjoy your evening!

Quilters Accountability 12-1-10

Lucky Me - I did not have any goals to accomplish over the last week - except to goof off - and I Succeeded!!!

I started a new quilt. The pattern is from http://www.maryquilts.com/ and is called Forest Bricks, but of course, my needs to be called Red Bricks... ohhh maybe it could be called the Red Brick House?
Anyways, I did it a little different because I had a bunch of left over 1 1/2 inch red strips. I sewed all of them together, and then cut them into the 3.5 x 6.5 bricks.

Sewing them to the strips

When I ran out of string bricks, I cut up some reds. All the blocks are now made, and even trimmed up.... so just need to put them into a top!! - what is the holdup lady.....
My goals for this next week
  • Finish Gift quilt borders. The top is made, but it needs borders.
  • Quilt a gift quilt (not the same one that needs borders)
  • Work on the Red Brick quilt top
  • Survive!!!
Go on over to Bari's to see what others are up to!

Have a great week!
