I need a Plaid Intervention

It all started with Pulling out My Jacobs Ladder plaid quilt.... this was started in October of 2011 - Impera Magna says so.... she did this as a quilt a long, and I had to join in! But I am going to sort of blame her, she didn't put a due date on it....  ( just kidding...sort of)

When I pulled it out, I found a whole bucket load of plaids under the original blocks...

And then! Judy had a Quilt a Long  and I thought PLAIDS!!! I can do this in plaid.... I have half the blocks done.

And then!!! My Heartstrings group decided to do a brown centered block and I though PLAIDS!!   I have 24 blocks completely finished, and 24 are 1/2 way done.

And then!!  I was cutting 2 inch strips for my idea for a border for the Jacobs Ladder, and I read about Amy wanting to do another pineapple blossom quilt  ( a Bonnie Hunter design).... and I thought PLAIDS!!!  I now have all my centers cut, and a pile of plaid string.... oh boy

Does it sort of look like a plaid fabric store threw up on my cutting table?  Seriously.... A Plaid Intervention may be necessary... because this morning - after I was done Long-Arming for the morning... I found....

ANOTHER BAG OF PLAID FABRICS  .... and they are yummy!!!

Step 4 in the PatchworkTimes Quilt a long

I do realize that Judy has posted 8 steps so far... but I am tickled that I just!!  finished Step 4....

I have the other steps printed, and as soon as I can I will start on Step 5 ! Whoot Whoot


AND.... we have casts off!!!  Is that not awesome! My child can now open the doors again, he is excited!

The tools they use were a little intimidating... but the end results - worth it!

Alright - back to sewing... you might notice there were some string blocks there too - they are from This sew along  , even though it doesn't really start until the weekend, we all know that I am the turtle, so I needed a head start LOL!!

A Quilt a Long!!!

Remembering George Part 2 and 3

I have decided to name my Quilt of Valor designed by Judy - "Remembering George" for my Great Uncle. I have been reading some blogs that say they wish that people would post progress of their quilts rather than just the finished product. If they read my blog - they may be sad. They may realize that I may just possibly be the SLOWEST quilt putter together-er in the world!

Today was our Quilt of Valor Sew Day. I assumed that since it was Memorial Day weekend maybe no one would want to come, but apparently we all needed some sewing time!. So while Ethel put the binding and label on this quilt. ( right)

And we all marveled at how the internet can bring quilters together. And how much more fun it is to quilt than to do chores - especially ones that involve tractors and shovels.... which is totally why I had children!

Wind

I despise the wind! It blew yesterday and was annoying, today it is gusting between 30 and 70 mph, it is AWFUL!!

We are all inside as the blowing sand just hurts. And we are not 100% inside people - we need our outside!! All the dogs are in their kennels and refusing to come out.

But on the good side of being inside - I am sewing!! Whoo Hoo. I needed to sew - as I am sewing I can just feel the crabbies, and stresses, and all that cranky stuff go away!!

Over on Judy L's Blog ( http://www.patchworktimes.com ) she started a sew along with a great quilt that would make an awesome Quilt of Valor. So of course, I pulled fabrics for it - because I might possibly have a few patriotic fabrics laying around the house. I already have the pieced cut for todays sewing step. As soon as I get dinner on the stove I am going to sit and sew.

All three of these Quilts of Valor were quilted by Loretta in LA. The top quilt was made by Jo D of the Livermore Quilters. This was her first or second quilt she ever made. And of course she has now made them for all the grandkids!!

The second quilt was made by Gerrie D. Her Brother in Law is a Vietnam Vet and a recipient of one of the first Quilts of Valor I ever made. I might have already told you, but every time I see the man I get the biggest bear hug, and am automatically considered family.

The last Quilt of Valor was made by Loretta's neighbor Doyleen . I love it!
