UFO #9

Oh lawsy mercy me - how does time go so fast!!! We had a swim meet this afternoon, that should have been over by 7, but it was over at 8:30 - then we stopped by some friends and got to see a bunch of alpacas....left there house about 10pm, and just got home ( its 11pm now) And I still feel like its morning - I have much more to do!!!!!

But I did finish my UFO for the month - Judy chose UFO #9 and all mine required was binding - so you all know what I was FINALLY finishing last night ( um after the red challenge quilt) but it was done before midnight - so that counts!!!

And here it is:

I thought I would put it on my bed like Judy does - but I forgot that our room is probably not as clean as hers! In my mind it is, but when the pictures come out..... there is mysterious clothing and boots and such around there!!

Aprils UFO #4

I have to Thank Judy for hosting this UFO challenge. I did not ( okay I really did, but I don't want to admit it) realize how competitive I am.... sometimes.... and it is all with myself!! My dear sweet family kept saying - Mom - give it up, its okay if it's not done. Well! Fine! I showed them!!

Sort of - the binding is not done, but because it is a Quilt of Valor I have this group of lovely lovely ladies who bind QOV's... and well - what is one more right?

Heres the full quilt picture.

Here's a closer up one. And I think I know (remember)why this became a UFO! I think these were the reject blocks that didn't come out perfect. Or at least square enough that I didn't have to majorly trim them. and of course I kind of forgot that until I was sewing them into rows.

And the back - just a solid piece of a plaid fabric. I like it!

And there you go - UFO #4
4 UFO's in 4 months - that deserves some kind of treat right?

UFO #1 - The Betty Quilt

UFO #1 was chosen as our challenge for March, my goal was to get this quilt into Top form, with a backing ready to go. Can't put too much pressure on a girl you know!

First - I realized that I hadn't finished all the blocks needed to put the top together - so I buckled down and finished those.
The last batch.

Then as you saw on MANY design wall posts I struggled, and whined, and procrastinated my way thru getting the rows done, and finally ...much to the happiness of my children.... got the top done!

I also have abacking ready - so some day in the near future ( I hope) I will get it quilted!
Now I hope the choice for April is an easy one - Please Judy???

UFO #10

UFO #10 is Finished

This is my UFO Number 10 and I can not tell you how old it is, but I think it has to be 5 years old at least, because I can remember that I  bought it in Golden CO when I went to the Rocky Mounrtain Quilt museum for my birthday .....and I had to drive my Truck. Which means that this was before I got my Grandpa's car, and I got his car about 4 years ago. See how my brain works? ( there are some that say it doesn't!)

When I showed it to my family they weren't sure it was mine, becasue the colors were not something I like ( snort) so they put it next to a flannel quilt that I had made for me.... hmm I think we should change our decorating scheme!

Oh look! Its a cute horse with a rider! So - this morning when I went to turn my laptop on it told me I had a virus - so I am waiting on Wrangler man to save me. In the meantime I took my camera to my desktop and downloaded the pics I needed for today - but LOOK what I found in my camera!

And look at this cutie - So you know - that's a sorting stick - it is un-electrified because I feel that young children should not be electrified early in life - okay Just kiddin' .. we also use it to train horses - kind of like a third arm so its jut a soft plastic stick - but fun!!

Oh the memories - this was our fishing trip last year I think - now two of those kids are looking me in the eye.... and (hold on a minute I need to sipe my tears) and and and one of them is *gulp* learning to *gulp* drive.......

January's UFO #6

The UFO chosen over at http://www.patchworktimes.com/ this month was UFO #6 from our UFO lists. Well at first my list only had 6 UFO's on it - so I thought that was cool. The list has grown to *gulp* 10!!!  And who knows, with my great ability to hide things from myself I might find 2 more!!

Anyways UFO #6 is all done - I put the borders on it, and quilted it, and Chryl S Bound it for me!! Whoo hoo - off to the Quilt of Valor land it goes!!

Here it is all bordered.

Here is a close up of the quilting. It is a panto called Starburst by Jodi Beamish.

Here is a picture of it with its backing - all flag -ish!

And this is the lowly little block that started it all.
Directions can be found here:

And Now I will very very patiently await Vince's ( I am assuming that Judy will let Vince draw again) Draw of the next UFO to work on for February!

Enjoy!

Quilters Accountability 1/19/11

These were my goals for last week:
 1. Finish Yellow String Blocks :  Done! They are set in a top and now I am working on the borders.

2. Finish the Yellow MC Top and choose a backing  Nope - the top is done, and then I decided it needed more so I am still working on it. You can see it here:
http://alyciaquilts.blogspot.com/2011/01/design-wall-116.html

3. Cut borders for UFO #6 Done - put on... and are you ready for this? It is quilted, and Chryl took it last night at guild meeting to BIND it for me!!! Whoo Hooo ( it is going to be a Quilt of Valor!)

This is a close up of the panto I used - it was kind of starry.

4.  Quilt Customer quilt - its a food themed quilt - I get hungry easy, so wish me luck!! Done - here is a little clip of it - and yep - it made us all hungry!!

5. Finish cutting the lights for the 3rd QOV kit.   Done with this too.
Which is good our sew day is Jan 30th - so its coming up sooner that I will imagine!
All in all I think I did okay.... we seem to have something every night to attend, and that really slows me down. So I think this next week is the same. Who ever said that when the kids got older it was easier was not remembering all the drive time!!!

Next week's goals:
1. Keep working on the Yellow Quilts, putting on the borders, and choosing backing fabrics:
Sadly enough that is probably all I will get done , So if I have no other goals everything else will be icing on the cake right?

2011 UFO List

I am not sure that I can keep up with JudyL's ( http://www.patchworktimes.com ) UFO challenge - but I am going to try!. I am listing my UFO's at the moment and am going to try to finish these this year.

1, This quilts seems to be taking years. I have been working on it for this last year, but I won't tell you how long I have had the fabrics! Anyways - Betty Quilt is UFO #1

To be finished to me - I want it into a Top with a backing ready this year!
The Top is DONE

2. Lime Green and Black quilt.
All it needs is a back - I have 3 different ideas - so need to CHOOSE one, and Quilt it AND.... sit down - BIND it!
3. Twisty strippy QOV. I printed out the pattern, and have cut a lot of strips. I am not sure it is all I need, but I want to start working on it and get it to the Top and Backing stage.
4. Another Chunky Churndash top. We did this as a mystery quilt on this blog - courtesy of Bonnie H. at http://www.quiltville.com/

I made enough blocks for 3 tops - and then got sidetracked. So need to put this into a top and get a backing and QUILT it for a soldier.
5. A wonky Rail Fence quilt. Little bit and I started sewing on this summer of 2010, and then school started and we put it in a bucket and there it has sat. I know I have enough strips and fabric for us to finish it.....

6. QOV Flag quilt. It needs Borders and Quilting. I have auditioned some border fabrics - but can't seem to choose. So when its number is called - I guess I will MAKE a DECISION !! Right?
(DONE January 18th, 2011)

http://alyciaquilts.blogspot.com/2011/01/quilters-accountability-11911.html

Hunh - as I was cleaning on New Years day I found two more UFO's - imagine that! (note to self - stop cleaning!!)

7. These are all my bright strings that I have saved to put into a Bright String quilt. I am pretty sure there are enough strings for a lap sized quilt..
8. Lasagna Patriotic Quilt.
This is a pattern from Atkinson Designs, and about 2 months ago I felt the need to cut fabrics - so I did, and then I pulled some more to cut, and then I put them aside, next to the book shelf.... hunh.

Well this is kind of embarrasing - but (1/18) I have found two more UFOS!

9. Carolina Christmas - needs Binding
10. Pink Lemonade Top - needs a Back, quilting and binding....

DONE 2/28/11
http://alyciaquilts.blogspot.com/2011/03/ufo-10.html
If I keep this up I will have more that the 12 that we were supposed to start with!!!

So there you go - there is my UFO list at the moment. I am going to join in and HOPE that it motivates me to not start too many more things until these are done!!!  ( notice I didn't say to start nothing.... I KNOW my limits LOL)
