The Wild Wild West... ish

We had one of our competitions - and it was a Blast!! for real haha!

It was the end of the winter series. When we started this sport I started on my ol' Man Ro

Ro is 28 years old, and I love him to pieces - he was my husbands Calf Roping horse, then moved to Team Roping, then he had a hip Injury so I rehabbed him and we got him all healthy and I used him for Mounted Shooting.

Ro - calf Roping - in his Hey Day

The best thing about him, he was consistent and not fast. I mean - he was fast, just not as fast as top competitors. Which Is JUST what I needed. Not only to learn the sport but to build confidence.

One day I read my Chocolate Fortune and it said to try something new. So I decided to try to compete on my mare Croppy. K had been competing on her, but he had switched to our Blue Roan, so Croppy was kind of missing out. I decided one weekend to let Ro Rest and take Croppy - that was 10 months ago  ( photo is our first competiton together)

Fast forward to Saturday - she and I won our series and we got a belt buckle!!

K won too!! so it was a great day all around. Its funny - he winning doesn't surprise me - he's such an all around cowboy, I haven't seen him be bad at anything yet.

Well - at maybe folding the laundry - but we both suck at that!!

This is us posing after we got home, so pardon the sunburn, the stink, and the dust... haha!  Roanie Mare ( left) had to get in it too, because!! I have one competition on her now.

I took her Saturday , and decided to try her. Oh! My! Gosh!! She is way too fast, I am way not able to keep up with her speed yet - but it was sure fun to try and see what we could do.

I have a list of improvements to work on now!!
