We are pretty lucky that we live just over an hour away from a really cool Museum - called the
Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum.... Its in Golden Colorado -
and was started by Eugenia Mitchell. I think its patron saint now is Sandra Dallas. ( go read her books - they are AWESOME)
Last weekend I went to a Gun Show with my Husband - so this weekend, I decided it was only fair for him to go to a Quilt Museum with me!
it was Quilts Made by Men Exhibit.
If you have known me for a while - you might remember that Little Bit, at 6 years old was in the Quilts by the Hands of Men exhibit....
so I am partial to this one.
and this one did not disappoint!! There was also a special exhibit by David Taylor...
Just because I know you want to see my baby from 2007...
I took a lot of Photos
But thought I would share this one today
Its a Boxer shorts quilt
and I loved it!!
At first glance I thought - wow - those are some amazing Feedsacks!!
H aha!
I think this Oscar Meyer might have made me choke on a laugh
Here is the amazing Quilt maker and his story!!and I found one more I fell in love with!!
my design wall is a little stagnant lately - I might have started working on some T Shirt Quilts for Graduation - so.... hopefully you will enjoy this manly boxer quilt!

I was at the Rocky Mountain quilt museum some years ago - I don't even remember what year it was but probably 12+ years? I am lucky that Paducah Kentucky is about 6 hours from me I go there every couple years and see the museum and the show.
Lots of great male quilters out there.
I find that it is fun to shop Target's men's dept after a "holiday". I buy the largest size of "100% cotton" boxers. They have the coolest prints--novelties you wouldn't find in any quilt store. They make me giggle :-)
Those are some funky boxers!! HA And little bit was so cute!
Thanks for the laugh of the day.
What a hoot! Thanks for sharing! I would never have thought to save underwear for the fabric stash!
What a fun exhibit! I'd love to see more pictures if your in the mood. David Taylor is one of my favorite quilt artists.
Several years ago my son, who lives in Denver, took me to the museum. It just happened to be the Men Quilters Exhibit. One of the museum helpers took a group of us around explaining things he knew about the quilts. It was an enjoyable time. Maybe we can do it again this summer.

LOVE that boxer quilt! You said several things that made me sit up and take notice. I have recently developed a keen interest in learning more about fabric history and learning how to date quilts and fabric. I have not heard of Sandra Dallas. Does she write about quilt history? Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum is going on my bucket list of places to visit and if you have a favorite quilt history book you love please share the name! :)
LOLOLOLOL....Bwahahaha....I'm STILL laughing at the "weinermobile"!!!
I thought about using my dad's boxers after he is through with them, but the fabric is so thin, it is more like tissue!! What a great quilt - totally fun with the fabrics he had to work with!!
BOXERS??? Seriously, I had no idea. I thought quilts made out of men's shirts was a stretch but this... up cycling (?) underwear??? I am a bit aghast. How many of us would be fine snuggling with it :-D
On the plus side, I do like the pattern.
Oh that's too fun! Thanks for sharing, I needed the giggle.
