This is the beginning of my lime center strings quilt. I have all the blocks made now - just need to trim the rest of them up.
But then - did you know its almost the middle of the month? And I have to finish UFO #1 ( cuz Judy said so!) So I got that out and started on it too.
I call this my Betty Quilt.
My Great Aunt and her mother and sisters were quilters - a long time ago. She gave me a appliqued quilt prior to her passing, and I got really interested in what else they had later in life. So my mom and I did some research and found that they had donated their quilts to the Michigan State Quilt Study.
And then we found the pictures on line - and this one just popped out at me - so I decided to reproduce it.

All great projects. Your string quilt is wonderful. It is so bright and cheerful.
You have been busy thats for sure. I like the planned colors in the string quilt though I always like the scrappy ones also. UFO #1 is great. I have been slow on that. I only need to quilt and bind this one so didn't jump right in. You are right the month is half gone, I better get that on the frame this week.
I've made string quilts before, but never one with a controlled pattern. I really like the look with the lime.

The string quilt is very cool. I love old quilts too and like to make ones with the same "feel." Are these quilts in a the Michigan Museum? I have been there many times and saw several quilts. I would love to see this quilt again in person!!
