Pictures from a soldier

Every once in a while a soldier sends some pictures my way of them with their quilt. These just make my heart happy. This soldier was in the transitional housing while deciding his best route of medical care. His wife is able to be with him, and he was so surprised to recieve a quilt.

This quilt was actually given away almost two years ago, so you have to know how important these are to these soldiers - the pictures were just sent at the beginning of the month. They are defineatly a great source of comfort, and seem to rarely leave their side!

Quilts from Meredith in CA

My dear sweet Meredith has been at it again! She has been quilting up a storm, and Ron Olsen has been longarming right along with her - for some Awesome Quilts of Valor!!!

I can NEVER choose a favorite - which makes me wonder how I am going to choose a winner at the Firehouse Quilt show on Friday.
If anyone is going to be in Highlands Ranch - I will be struggling to choose my favorite quilt at the Quilt show there - http://www.firehousequilts.org/

Thanks Meredith and Ron! You are awesome!

*PS : Just an FYI, there are two quilts made by Linda and one by Sandy. We are a group of ladies that meet once a week. Meredith, is by far, the most prolific.**

** I love that people are willing to help me out is recognizing which quilts they made ;-) Makes my heart SO happy to know that you are watching for you quilts!!! THANK YOU!!

Design Floor Monday

Actually today it is still on the ironing board.....

This is still my indigo challenge quilt from June.... I am so behind. But since July is Blue -and there is some blue here too - it can be a twofer?

I hope to get it finished this week, cuz I have another quilt I really want/need to start!

And this is WHY I am so behind. My oldest son had a conference in Florida - so we all decided to tag along! We spent 10 days on vacation, and got to hit some fun places - like Universal Studios, Epcot, Islands of Adventure and Hollywood Studios.  I think that we are theme parked out for a good 5 years!!  We also got to spend a couple of days on the beach. It was a great time, but oh man -did we wear ourselves out!

Sunday Stash report

I think I got a little behind in doing my stash reports. Probably cuz I haven't been tempted to buy anything, as no one will let me near a quilt shop!! We need to have a family talk - ya know!

So from June 12 to today this report will catch me up;

Fabric Used:   6.5 yards  ( the fabric for my Indigo challenge quilt and backing for my UFO #8)
Fabric Used YTD:   278.224 yards

Fabric in:     O Yards
Fabric in YTD:   183.045

Total Fabric BUSTED YTD : 95.179 yards!!!

And because you really really want to know the reasons we haven't been to a quilt shop:

Dixie doesn't know how to parallel park yet - so she has to stay on the ranch.

Rojo is not equipped with the appropriate blinkers - and he doesn't qualify as a farm vehicle.

And Butter - well Butter is not real fond of people. He like Middle bit - and thats about it. If I go to catch him I swear he is planning 42 ways to bite me, but if the kiddo goes to catch him, he saunters right up and actually is NICE!1

More QOV's delivered

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the smiles on the reciepients faces when they recieve a Quilt of Valor. It is just so awesome!!!!  And the tears of gratitude, of amazement that anyone would want to do this for them.... so cool.

I love it when the families are able to see their veteran recieve a Quilt of Valor. This little girl was precious. I kinda wanted another little one after hanging out with her!

This dear sweet man - oh boy - he was just too sweet for words, and when I handed him his quilt - the last thing I said was "Welcome Home" and he lost it. No one had told him that yet.

Thank you all for your help in covering these Veterans. I swear each one of you that participate in this endeavor is totally AWESOME!!!

Quilts from PatchworkTimes.com

Last Memorial Day Judy L over at http://www.patchworktimes.com/ hosted a Quilt A long with a really cool pattern. Apparently I wasn't the only one who fell in love with the pattern. Many others made tops and Judt quilted them, and now I have them and am getting them ready for delivery.

So - would you like to see them?

This one ( above) was made by Kathy R

This one was made by Dee at Bittenbythequiltingbug.blogspot.com

a close up of the quilting.

I love these quilts. I am amazed at the different looks just by using different fabrics.
Thanks Judy for hosting this and for quilting all of these Quilts of Valor!!
