Quilted by Gail

I met Gail thru a friend in Denver. Turns out she has a longarm machine, and she likes to quilt! She is from a warmer place ( Hawaii I think) but married a guy from Colorado, and so she is learning to adapt to the cold weather. Instead of trekking out in the winter - she quilts!! And Quilts of Valor was the reciepient of this quilting!!
~
This first quilt was made by my Mom - Sue.
~
The next quilt is a Not So Top Secret Project. It was a group project. I did the cutting, Rubydell made the blocks, Sue ( not my mom, another Sue in my guild) put the blocks together. Daisy put the borders on , and Gail quilted it!
~
And the last quilt was made by Shari - one of the teachers from the school.
~
Thanks Gail for quilting these for us!!
~
I apologize for not posting more, but between the tornados, thunderstorms and childrens events - the computer has been lonely. I unplug everything as soon as I hear thunder, and some of these storms have lasted for hours.
~
They are playing havoc on our fun!
See ya tomorrow for step 3 of the NSTSP2... my mom has even asked for the next step - gotta do what Mom says right??

Quilts for a Sunday

These first three quilts on the right were all Made by Kathy in WI. They are gorgeous!!! And the two of them are string quilts, but the top on doesn't look like it at first. Took me a moment!
~
Kathy - Thank you SO much for your hard work. I sure appreciate it!!!
~

This Not So Top Secret project quilt on the left was made by Cindy P in ME. I gotta tell you, it just tickles me to see the way they can all be so different. Cindy - Thank You!!

~
Next is a Friendship Star type quilt from Kathryn in MA. I like the way she used the color and the white - it is quite striking! Thank you Kathi for contributing this quilt!!

~
And last - a string quilt from Sue, quilted by Janet - both in Heartstrings. Sue has her own blog over at http://susan-my2cents.blogspot.com/ if you feel like checking it out. She is up to a new project.
~
Today has been a long but lazy day. We taught in the 4th grade at church, and I think all the kids came sugared up. They were great - but the don't stop.... The 4th graders move up to the 5th grade class next week, so we got to go check it out, and they had JUST AS MUCH ENERGY..... need more caffiene if we make that a regular thing!
~
Hope you all have a great rest of the weekend. Ladies - Thank you for your Quilts of Valor!!

Beth and the HunnyBees

I just love hearing about the names of peoples sewing groups - this group comes from Idaho, and is called the Hunny Bees. I love it!!! And I wonder how they got that name?
~
They sent in 6 quilts!! Two of them are the Not So Top Secret quilt - I think it is so cool to see all the versions of this, and it makes my oldest son feel so good. He had quite a hand in pushing that quilt pattern along!!
~
Thanks Beth and the HunnyBees! You all are awesome!!

~
On another note.... Schools Out for Summer.... Yay!! Hands are clapping and kids are screaming!!! Yesterday was the last day till August and boy were my kids ready!
~
And then it rained and lightening'ed last nite....
~
So with that - the kids at school were able to graph the first 725 quilts that came in for our soldiers. They kept track of which state they came from. Take a guess and see if you know which state the most quilts came from, the second most and the third most. Make your guess by Monday the 25th at 7pm. I'll have a surprise gift for the person that gets the (or closest to) three states)
~
And with that - we are off to play!!! See ya tomorrow.

More from the Pieceable Friends

The Pieceable Friends Quilt Guild is the Guild I belong to in Greeley. We had sew days, and binding days and these are some of the quilts that the ladies made.
~
The first two are from Deb S. I love the star blocks! They were quilted by Ann Marie on her Statler. Thanks Ladies!!
~
The String quilt is from Ethel. Ethel has great patience because those were some small strings - but the quilt is gorgeuos. And she quilted it herself! Thanks Ethel.
~
Next is a quilt from Charolottes next door neighbor ( I forgot to get her name.) But she heard what Charolotte was up to ... she made tops and bound a thousande bazillion gatrillon, and the neighbor wanted to contribute this quilt. Each block has different Birds in it.

~
This Not So Top Secret quilt was made by Pam. Pam is a dedicated Hawaiian Quilter and makes gorgeous hand appliqued Hawaiian quilts. But she put those aside for a bit and made this Quilt of Valor - I think it was a wise decision ( grin). Thanks Pam!!
~
Last but not least we have two quilts from Judy W. I love the colors and the blend in these two. Judy cut fabric - for one quilt - and ended up having enough for Three. One has already been shown. And I can totally identify with that. Its kind of like I buy fabric... which might explain the overload of Hot Pink!

If we could just convince men that Hot Pink is a manly color.....
~
Ladies - Thank you SO much for all your hard work on these quilts. They are wonderful!!

Wednesday's Quilts

Bari over at http://crossroadsquilts.wordpress.com made this Green Not So Top Secret Project for our Quilts of Valor delivery. And she used the extra blocks to make a little kiddo quilt. Isn't that cool? Her twins wrote some letters and drew some pictures - that makes me smile!!
~
And here's a small world thing for you - Bari and I went to the same college - and we think we might have overlapped a few years in our time there. Although she is in MO, and I am not. Thanks Bari!!
~

The Next two quilts are from Marcia in IL. She is part of the Northwest Surburban Quilt guild. Marcia - these are lovely! The star one is very carefully planned, but has such a random look about it. Thanks SO much Marcia!!'
~

Here's how you know the weather is going to be windy - I have to do the chores! And I have a list of outside things to do. Needless to say - I have had a sand facial today and have sandblasted my teeth!
~
I drug the kids out with me too - so now their faces are all fresh. We had a bunch of new trees to water, and dirt to move. Today we had 8 1/4 tons of topsoil delivered. I thought that sounded like a lot, but when I look at it, I am not sure it is enough to fill what we wanted to fill. We may need to add compost ( and you all know where that came from!)

Good Morning

We are up and at them this morning! Are you?
~
This first quilt is from Judy V in Colorado. She helped her school make 2 QOV's http://alyciaquilts.blogspot.com/2009/04/two-quilts.html
And just couldn't stop! I love her version of the Not So Top Secret Project.
~

Next are Two more quilts from Sue S in Colorado. Her sister is in my guild and has bound a bazillion Quilts for us. Sue has the best taste in fabrics - I love how she puts it all together!

The Last two quilts were pieced by Richard, and Quilted by Arlene M in Michigan. They make a great team don't they?
~
Thanks all you wonderful quilters. These quilts are sure to make a soldier happy!
~
Have a great Day!!

And there's more!

Way back in September I was invited to go visit Rosalie's sewing group. Her group sews on Thursday Mornings in a small corner room at her church in Greeley.
~
I went and told them about Quilts of Valor and our challenge. I also took a couple of Stars and Bars patterns and the fabric half way cut for one. I had thought I would sew it, but they volunteered - and you CAN NOT say no to that! Plus I knew I had more fabric to cut.... (hmmmm? Really? )
~
I had also passed out the Not So Top Secret Project pattern to bribe folks to sew.
~
Last night Rosalies group showed up with EIGHT! ... count 'em eight quilts! All of them are wonderful. But I have to tell you - I was really drawn to the scrappy Not So Top Secret quilt. I really think I should make one that scrappy. I took them all home, and layed that one out and just stared.
~
Ladies - Thank you SO much!!

But Wait!!! There are EVEN more..... and yesterday my UPS man showed up with a Dolly full of boxes.... so there are more that one can imagine - and you HAVE to come back to see them all.
~
My one observation? We quilters work great under pressure.... come back tonite!
~
We are at 709 now......

The Quilts are Coming!!

We were reading about Paul Revere - and I get his sentiments... the Quilts are coming ;-) My UPS man, he had to use a dolly yesterday. He NEVER uses a dolly out here.
~
This first quilt is a Not So Top Secret project quilt - and it is adorable. Click on the picture to see the cool prints! It came from Kara in Lincoln, NE. She worked on it with her daughter. Love that!!

~
Next is a Heartstring quilts made by Mary H in Seattle, WA. I love the placement of the blocks - it s really a striking quilt! Thanks Mary!
~

The next 5 quilts come from Dawn R in Idaho ( http://www.pajamaquilter.com ) One of them is a Virtual MQX quilt. MQX is a quilt show/ classes in New Hampshire ( http://www.MQXshow.com ) and a lot of us were lamenting that we hadn't gone. So the group decided to make blocks for QOV's, and send them in to make a quilt. I think 6 quilts were made.
~
The rest of Dawns quilts were from a group of students that she taught to make quilts - all newbies ( her words!) I think they just graduated to not so newbies!!

Have a great day!!

Peg in Ohio

Good Morning Everyone. ( I was going to say Y'all but I thought I might get picked on this early in the morning)
~
Hope you are ready for an awesome day of quilts!!!
~
These Three came in from Peg B in Ohio. The first is a Carolina Crossroads - It is wonderful. Its cool to see the different quilting people have done, as you may know - mine still needs to be quilted!
~
The next two are Not So Top Secret Projects - Love the colors used!!
~
Thanks Peg for sending these in - they are Awesome!!

~
The Cemetary Picture: I volunteered my oldest son to go see what it was while I guarded the cooler. He had to get directly in front of it - but it was a ceramic white dog, curled up in a ball, looking up at the headstone. The black was little spots. Can you believe it?
