Veterans Day ( and Veterans Day Weekend)

It's amazing how many organizations come out to support Veterans over the Veteran Day holiday!

We Get to award Quilts of Valor at a really cool Veterans Breakfast. The Breakfast happens every weekend, and we go to award quilts very often - so when they asked us to make sure we could award them over Veterans day Weekend - I said sure!!

And then was shocked at how many organizations came that day to thank them. It was a lot - but was really cool..

The Loveland Lions Club bought breakfast for all 188 Veterans that showed up ( that's a lot of food) we usually have about 200 Veterans, but there were some other celebrations going on that day.

They posed - I told them they would be on my blog...

Here are my awesome Veterans that we were able to award quilts too. It was pretty crowded, so my pictures are kind of at a weird angle....

I really love telling them about the quilts, who made them, what the pattern is, how many people touched their quilts, and that they are meant to be used.... right away.

The gentleman in the top right corner of ^ photo - he looked at his label and read that it was made by Karen... he was overjoyed - that is his wife's name!!!

The gentleman on the far left  ^- he got my Plaid Diamond chain. After wards he told me that his late wife was a huge fan of plaid, so he felt it was a hug from heaven ;-)   I love plaid - and I was pretty happy with that story!!

The gentleman in the Bottom left of this photo - he ate his breakfast wrapped in his quilt.

I loved talking with each and every one of these Vets and learning more about them.

Happy Veterans Day!

Wonderful QOV presentation! It’s amazing how a veteran just gets the right quilt. Love the story of the plaid quilt going to the right veteran.

What a touching post, I have a big lump in my throat. I'm so glad those quilts are SO beautiful, they certainly deserve that. And their faces are just so precious.

Eating breakfast wrapped in a quilt. . .that means the quilt was needed! Isn't it interesting how the "right" quilt pairs up with the "right" recipient? The man whose wife loved plaid and the man whose wife was named Karen. What a great celebration!

Awesome group! I love when I get a chance to talk to the veterans afterwards. That didn't happen on Sunday with the 3 we awarded, but usually it does.
