Jelly Roll 18 and Stars is a Top!! and!! Finished (or not) Friday!

Happy Friday!!!

Are you ready for a time change? I don't know if I like it darker in the morning, or getting darker earlier in the evening. Either way  - I don't like dark, and I can't convince the sun to stay out longer!! I wish I could - but we are getting shorter days of light each day....

So it was time to bring out a BRIGHT quilt and get it topped!! Bright colors sure do make dark better - right?

I just love this one - its the Jelly Roll 18 (google it , its a free pattern) and my Happy Half Square project block 3 (under the tab above)  .

I loved it so much - we have made these blocks for our QOV's - and I HAVE to get them finished!! I got one QOV top done... Must....... keep....... Quilting.....

And of course - the obligatory Dog Photos - Pound puppy there ( in the middle) Loves to get in on the action too!! She is just a little sweetheart... and loves to do what her big Sisters are doing...

Bella... oh Bella - she sees the camera come out, and she gets all demure ... has to look away haha!!

That is my Finish for this week!! Who is all Dressed up for Halloween - which is also today?  We have a Trick or treat thing in town that we are going to to hand out candy. No one comes to us. Which is probably good - I don't have to worry about gates being left open!!!

Share your Finished ( or not) Blog post with us!!! I love seeing what you are all up to.

and if anyone can help me find more time in the day... give me the *How tos!!*

I just realized the graphic I am using says 2024.... and 2026 is breathing down my back... Oops haha!!

Quilts of Valor

I had the privilege of meeting two amazing Veterans on Saturday!!!
One is a Marine who served during Vietnam - take a moment and google Operation Buffalo . This veteran was a part of the 1st battalion , 9th Marines .
The other served during Korea, in the Army and is the sweetest soul ever .
The quilt on the left (in the top left photo ) went to the Weld County Fair and won Champion in its class . I told him it was a champion quilt for a champion of a man .
The quilt on the right ( in the top left photo ) is called "stars like spaghetti " and was a mystery quilt made by Sandi H ... ( and designed by me )
I told him the story - and said if he got hungry while using it - it wasn't my fault 🤣🤣
Such an honor to award Quilts of Valor to these amazing Veterans .

Sunday found us at our Quilt of Valor sew day - I have a LOT of photos to share - but!!
Check out the blocks we made!!!

This is the leader/ender project from Bonnie at Quiltville = and we used 2 1/2 inch strips!

I do have to tell you though - I cut enough strips for 80 blocks.... and somehow came home with 95....

Magic???? Hmmmmm

A lot of Little things

I never know if I feel more productive doing the *big* things, or getting a lot of *Little* things done? What about you? What makes you happy when you look at that to do list?

I got to finish the quilting on one of my own.....

it has come on and off the frame a lot haha

We had a block exchange for one of my groups - it was Hot August Nights. I actually did finish them in time, I just didn't get them documented...

I kind of love these blocks - and wonder what a whole quilt would look like?
The Block Round Robin for my guild has ended - these were the blocks I made for one of the ladies ( the very last blocks)

Of course - now I want to make more and make a table runner for my kitchen....
I have been blessed to be very busy with Client quilts this month - it could not have come at a better time, so I am so tickled!!

Machine Quilting can be a fickle business - it all depends on when people want to piece, or if they want to use machine quilters.

I am so appreciative they came my way!!

we harvested the very last of the garden - and that was good timing. The day after we harvested we had freeze number 1, and all the tomatoes that he missed, turned into ice balls !
Another Quilt I quilted - this one was such a simple fun quilt - she just chose a lot of fabrics that blended well together and did rows... So cute!!

And each day that I tire these girls out... I call it a WIN!!!  I still have the third puppy - but she really prefers her bed with all her blankies  haha!

Eeking out a finish!! and Finished! ( OR NOT) Friday!!

Did you see the Capital OR NOT.... that's cuz I have a lot of OR NOT's going on right now. And we all know - its ALL about me 😊😃

Last week (or maybe longer) I showed you my little Ice Cream Cozy ... then I went a little crazy - and thought - I need a Bowl cozy to match, and then.... (it's always the "and thens" isn't it) K wanted one.

So now we have matching Ice Cream Cozies - and one bowl cozy... another bowl is in process!

My Friend L said - Oh I want some for my kids - and so!!

I got 2 more done, and have 2 in progress for her.... Do you see how all the OR NOT'S added up? At least I am having fun right? AND!!! In order to find that blue.. I had to sort thru a bucket of fabrics and now I have a plan to keep using what's in the bucket... so that is A LOT more starts (If I do it)

Oh Boy!!!

Also - A challenge???

Tell us what you have been up to!!
Did you get anything to the FINISH stage, or are you like me - and a lot of OR NOTS? haha

Its that HAT time of year!!

Its that time of year where we start getting all the little knitted (or loomed) hats together for Operation Christmas Child boxes!!!

Believe it or not - I actually got some loomed!!

I have a group of friends that have started knitting for my OCC project - ( okay actually M's) and we made 150 hats for her.

Then!!! There is a Veterans Resource Center in Greeley that is awesome!! I had about 20 hats extra and they said they would LOVE them!!! So they went there.

Now it is time to start Looming again!

I got some really pretty Dark Brown yarn and thought I would start with that color - especially since it is the RSC color for October - I haven't gotten very far as I have help - and when the dogs take off with my yarn - its sort of a Mess!!

aren't they so cute tho? Oh!! My sons Three day project - it got extended because of the weather - so Poor baby is stuck with me... I think she loves me, but holee cow - she keeps looking for her boy every morning!

Everytime I post about looming - someone asks what I use - so here you go:

The Amazon Link is HERE ; Loom kit

They are fun and easy, and actually - Quite therapeutic after a crazy day.. if you can get the girls to nap.... IF!!

I love pumpkins - they are so cute - so imagine my dismay when I didn't have any in quilt form! It was time to remedy that...

Aren't they so cute!!! Its little string Pumpkins!! the pumpkins are in one of Bonnie Hunters books - and I wanted to make them - so!! I did!!  I don't expect you to remember, but when Green was the RSC color this year - I made these little green 4 1/2 ish rail (ISH) Blocks.... and I saw them sitting on the table

A light went on! What a grear way to use them AS THE BORDER!!! so I did!!

Then we added some pumpkin quilting, some green and white striped binding!!

and now!! it is on the top of my Dining room table!!

I have decorated ;-)

Wrapping them in Love

I was lucky enough to spend some time with some of my FAVORITE Veterans this weekend... 205 of them to be exact!!!

and we were able to award 10 Quilts to some amazing Folks!!

This was a super fun bunch!! the Two that are sitting - One is a Brigadier General, and one was in the Korean war.  So the Gentleman that was in Korea - he is a HOOT!!!

He is a huge country music fan, but he not only knows the singers of old - he's up on the popular ones too! and he wants you to play them from your phone for him. He just cracks me up!!

We had a couple - both Air Force, and she outranked him. She was hilarious - when I tell them about how the quilts are specifically for them and they don't have to share - she looked at him and said - not only can I boss you around, but now you can't touch my quilt.... I died... they were the best!!

Oh!! And on one Quilt - there were some lighthouses in the backing fabric, he came to me with tears and asked How I knew him so well?  He (Navy) told me he had a cabin and the whole thing was decorated in lighthouses - they were his Favorite thing - so go me ( okay - if you know me, its really God, but I am taking the credit! ha)

Such a fun day!!

My Leader Ender Project is growing...

Last year one of my Quilting groups wanted to make these little scrappy Stars - and I fell in love after making one... so I trimmed up some scraps and made a pile, and figured as soon as I finished my current leader ender I would start on these...

I decided it was time to lay them out and see how many I had... and what colors I should keep making - Imagine my surprise when I was pretty even on the colors!! and! I have 23 blocks!!

I think I made 4 Blue ones for the Group quilt - and then I think I started on these in May of this year. That is not too bad for just using them as leader/enders - I bet by the end of the year I should have enough for a Quilt.

We also headed up to Wyoming this weekend - My family I married into has a very rich history around Douglas - and the Ayres Natural Bridge - I am sure I have blogged about it before. But we went up and met the family for a picnic at the bridge. Surprisingly - I took one photo!

It sure was pretty up there tho!!

Ice Cream Cozies!!! and! Finished! ( or not) Friday

 Happy Friday!!!

Today my finish is all about the ice cream!!! I love those little buckets of ice cream, but I do not like how cold my hands get. At one of our Guild meeting Ms Deb demo'ed how to make these... and I had to come home and try!!

Is that not cute!!!! I need to get better at them - but at least now I have ONE!! I have an excuse to eat ice cream!!!

My son got sent on a high security job for a few days and he can't take his dog... so I get her 💗💕💗

We are having so much fun - she and the other girls are playing all day!! They wear each other ( and me) out!!

What have you been up to this week?
Anything good, or did you go down a rabbit hole????

Share away ( PLEASE use the direct link to the post!!)

Ranchin' around

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale...A tale of a Happy girl ( Sung to the tune of Gilligans Island)

I love this time of year - to be honest - I kind of love all times of the year... but this one... might be my favorite

i'm not 100% sure where I am in my pasture - I'm thinking the south end - but heck fire - what a clear view of the mountains!!  ( that's Longs Peak if you want to know)

And this !! this is Mr Reno Man... He is just gorgeous!! He's getting a little darker and kind of Blueish - and he is so well mannered. My Husband has really been working with him - he's not old enough to ride, but we have put the saddle pads and bareback pads on him - so he is getting used to the cinch feeling...

Doesn't phase him!

This is my ICE!! man and Rowdy Mare...

Ice is a fairly new addition and I love him too. He is just so cool...

My Sister in law likes to look at clouds too - So I have been searching for unique clouds... now!!

Do you see it? The Thread spool?

I believe that is the sign that a Quilter lives here.  It was just over the house!!!

The sunset was so pretty over Longs and I tried to take the photo from the deck - but it wasn't working the way I wanted it to...

So I headed west and climbed my fence - precariously balancing to shoot it!

I love those colors - and may... just may have to see if I can make a quilt out of those colors!

This is us - Quilt a Fair was at the Boulder county fair grounds - so I got to go to the Quilt show - and then Compete !!
These are screen shots from our videos - but it was so fun!!

This was my last day competing as a 1 - I Won my class - and finally had enough qualified wins to move up to the 2's

Which *pretty excitedly* I competed the next day as a 2 - and got my first qualified win as a 2 - so yay!!!

I'll be in the 2's for a while - and that is good - I learn SO  much each time we go!

K!! was a flying flash - he went SO fast on this Brown mare - it was crazy!!! Some of the fastest times he has run as of yet - it was pretty cool to watch.
This is us in Estes. I am not sure I said - but in March K's company shut down. Lots of reasons - but sad... so he has been home for a bit.

It's a litte scary and a lot of fun - he's around with me a lot - so we have got a LOT of ranch work done and he planted a HUGE garden... but the best??

I don't have to wait for him to go ride... we can just go when I can fit it in my schedule.  I tease...

because its all around my quilting schedule now, so I tell him that makes me important hahahah!!

Good thing my Machine Quilting business is going strong right now
That's is ( right) at the Weld County Fair...Check out Rowdy ( K's Horse) ears - she is such a competitor!!!

My mare is too, but I hold her back a little. I'm not ready to go that fast ha!!

Hope you enjoyed our little tour around  ;-)

It wouldn't be the same with out a puppy picture though!

Ms Bella took a minute from her running to pose for you...
