Saturday Night We were privileged to attend the Northern Colorado Veterans resource Center *Battle Buddies* Gala.
It was a great event! I was invited to come to present 3 Quilts of Valor. It was quite the night. We learned all about the resource center.
No Co Vet Resource Center – they are here to help and make this stuff easier. They also help our Veterans in many other ways.
We were able to honor Three Veterans Saturday night, 1 Vietnam (Army) 1 OIF (Army) and 1 OIF (Marine) It was super fun to tell them all about Quilts of Valor, but!!!
Sometimes I am told I only have *so* much time. The MC didn’t give me a time limit. Good thing he likes me – I went off script a bit. But!! I think they forgave me.
Most of the time my presentations are all about the Veterans. This time, I might have talked about me a bit. I shared about my Dad and his service after the Attack on America at the Twin Towers (9/11). I only got a little choked up. Man I miss that guy!!
I shared a bit about how he was the one that got me into Quilting(accidentally).
I shared about how Quilts of Valor got started, and my part in it. Good thing they didn’t have the buzzer or music like they do at the Oscars…. I got all my words out.
I also got to tell about each of these Veterans service, where they served, and for how long. The thing that amazes me the most – our Veterans are some of the most service oriented people I know.
As if serving our country wasn’t enough – they still have that desire to help folks in all situations.
I think that is what makes me so impressed with the No Co Vet Resource Center – they are Veterans taking care of Veterans. And I get to be a small part of helping.
